Rip The Runway: Rodarte vs Bebe

Bebe is at it again, this time going after a Spring 2009 look from Rodarte’s collection:

Bebe-vs-Rodarte

I’m pretty sure Rodarte duo Kate and Laura Mulleavy wouldn’t be too pleased with the way Bebe’s turned out, and neither am I.  The ombre in Bebe’s dress looks unfinished, the textures seem to have cheapened the look, and there isn’t as much volume in the tulle.

Needless to say, at $229 Bebe’s Shred Party Dress is significantly less expensive than Rodarte’s–great for any recessionista. Then again maybe this look shouldn’t have been “duplicated” to begin with.

You Should Know: Kimanee Wilson

So I was randomly on the website for Next Models, and came across the profile of Bombshell Kimanee Wilson:

Model-Kimanee-Wilson

She may not be quite as well known as runway stompers Chanel, Arlenis, and Jourdan, but she has a pretty, chic look, perfect for editorials:

Kimanee Wilson

According to this article in the Jamaica Gleaner, the Caribbean queen was a covergirl for Trace Magazine, and secured a Ralph Lauren campaign in 2006:

In addition to rocking for RL, she has also worked with Levi’s, Sephora, and Target, and has scored editorials in Cosmopolitan, Essence, Allure, and L’Officiel:

Get the Look: Rihanna’s Philippe Chow Restaurant Style

Rihanna was spotted leaving Manhattan’s swank Philippe Chow restaurant on Monday after having lunch with singer/songwriter Santigold:

Rihanna Phillipe Restaurant

The BET Awards winner rocked cute cut off shorts, sunglasses, and a bright orange bra worn under a sheer button down Helmut Lang top:

The peek-a-boo bra style didn’t quite work for Teairra Marie, but does it work for Rih Rih?

If you think it does, intern Sean Garrette found you these options:

Fly Question of the Week: What Childhood Trend is Hot Again?

Today our boys over at Stuff Fly People Like are hitting us with a bit of nostalgia for the great eighties and its singular fashions:

Old School Fashion

While Rae reminisced on his dope slope haircut, all I can think of are those stone washed jeans I used to rock that are mildly reminiscent of the tie dyed joints of today.

What about you? What childhood trends are you wearing now?

Chanel Iman Moonlights as an Intern for Teen Vogue

Last week model Chanel Iman turned up super early for a cover shoot at Teen Vogue. Instead of wait around or go sip on a latté, she asked if she could help out in the fashion closet, and help she did:

Chanel Iman Teen Vogue Intern

A tickled Teen Vogue staffer said, “To our surprise, she was in such awe over the closet, [her] quick drive-by turned into a day interning with us! While clothing and accessory returns were being made around her, Chanel helped reorganize our closet and proved to be a major asset–there’s nothing like having a tall model around to help restock those high shoe shelves!”

Sounds cute!
