Lori Harvey in Vintage Alaïa

Always the Belle of the ball, Lori Harvey styled by Elly Karamoh wore vintage Alaïa from Spring 1984. Claire’s Life: Attending Paris Fashion Week Wearing Wear Niki Black Beret and Mini Skirt + Reflections on Moving to Paris in 2008 and My Full Circle Moment

Happy Sunday!

Visit TheBombLife.com for my reflections on this past Paris Fashion Week:

I was only in town for a few days (I had to accept my Triumph award, hello!), but had a great time attending shows like Elie Saab, Stella McCartney, and Christian Wijnants wearing looks by WearNiki.com, Kaasa Clothing, I Style by Sonia, and more.

Get some of my looks here, here, and here.

Some of you OG readers may remember when I first moved to Paris in 2008 (read the post here). I was frustrated at my full time job, and poured my passion for fashion into this here blog on the side. I decided to move to Paris because I had an underused French degree and always had a love for the city. I also felt that I would be able to ‘start from the bottom’ at a fashion magazine in a foreign country–what better choice than the City of lights, love, and style!

I remember sitting in Place de la Concorde (above) with no plan in mind, just a feeling that I needed to move there and make it happen. I struggled and strived until I got my internship at Paris Vogue, followed by a job at Italian Vogue, which all led me to strike out on my own with Fashion Bomb Daily.

Being able to return to Paris, on my own terms, and experience Fashion Week as the owner of my own company continues to be a full circle moment.

I am continuously and endlessly grateful for every moment because we all know it was not easy to get here. I feel blessed to continue to do what I love for a living and take you guys along for the ride:)

And as I said in my post from 2008, “You live but once, you might as well be amusing…”–Coco Chanel

Tips for Developing a Healthier Relationship

Relationships go through hell and find their way back to some normalcy after immense struggles. Most couples with a few years of dating felt like running away at some point. This is true across the board, be it in same-sex or heterosexual unions. The idea of a perfect relationship is based on relativity. It all boils down to age, gender, preferences, situations, and circumstances as well as surroundings. However, when relationships need to maintain that spark, there are guaranteed ways of ensuring that happens.

Maintain the Spark

Remember what brought you together in the first place and keep that spark glowing. Many couples forget the intimate times from days past; when flirting was a daily thing. Maintaining this is not always easy even as you find brides from Ukraine in hopes of a future. Keeping appearances and ensuring that your partner is happy can be tough. However, it is worthwhile in the end. Keep things spiced up using the methods below and watch sparks fly like you always wished they would.

1. Family

Keep friends close and family even closer when in a relationship. The quickest way to end a relationship is to keep family at bay. Worse yet is speaking ill of family members. If your partner’s brother has an addiction or social problems, for example, try to be helpful. Condemning the behaviors of family and friends close to your partner is ill-advised. It will almost inevitably lead to breaking up.

2. Compliments

Keep in mind these should also involve jobs well done. It refers to complimenting her/his new look, perhaps new clothes or grooming styles. Additionally, always pay attention to their career or personal growth. Everyone wants their growth in different areas to be noticed, especially when the attention is from a partner. Keep this in mind when she shows up with a new weave or talks about a recent promotion or job opportunity.

3. Listening

Be the caring listening partner she or he wishes they always had. It involves actively paying attention to what one says, especially concerning likes and dislikes. Active listening after you find brides from Ukraine will help secure more dates moving forward, and longer-lasting relationships. Part of this listening process involves connecting the dots. She might be implying you don’t pay attention to certain things and would like it to stop. Simply nodding or shaking your head doesn’t cut it. And she will know at some point that you never pay attention.

4. Traditions

Some might call them rituals but we can stick with traditions. These are homemade traditions and cultures. They involve creating space for quality time together and a schedule of must-do activities. When couples decide to be random that works too, but some traditions keep things alive. These are not always linked to eating out, buying gifts, or visiting family. Some rituals involve discussing relationship matters. It is all about knowing what is keeping people unhappy and what makes them happy. Rituals are important in keeping a balance between social life, personal life, and family and friends.

In a nutshell, keeping things positive works wonders but working on the self is great too. If you are not of a healthy mind, you cannot help your partner in any way. Also, keeping in mind health, be mindful of your partner’s mental and physical health moving forward.

Bottom Line

Keeping things positive in any relationship can be challenging, but that is where the fun begins. If you love someone and hope to be with them forever, it is important to practice the aforementioned. To flirt with and find brides from Ukraine is easy and only the beginning. It is more important to learn how to sustain these relationships to remain happier and healthier.

These 1880s Levi’s Jeans Just Sold for $76,000

Denim is a wardrobe essential and a good pair of jeans is an investment worth making. At the Durango Vintage Festivus denim auction, over a thousand pounds of denim were showcased and sent home to the highest bidders. Yet, in those mountain high piles of cool and unique pieces, a pair of 1880s Levi’s buckle back jeans made the auction memorable.

Like a few of the jeans sourced for the auction, these Levi’s buckle back was discovered in an abandoned mine. Its humble beginnings did not alter the opening bidding price of $28,000 nor the final selling price of $76,000. A hefty price tag split by Golden State Vintage for 90%, with the remaining 10% going to Zip Stevenson of Hollywood Trading Company.

It’s unknown just how long the jeans had been neglected in that abandoned mine, nor who the original owner was, but the jeans arrived in pretty good condition despite being over 140 years old. These may be the oldest pair of Levi’s jeans to ever sell at a live auction.

The Tips And Tricks To Finding The Best Style Picks For Your Next Holiday

  1. Respect Local Dress Codes

First and foremost, it is paramount that you look into the local dress codes of your holiday destination prior to embarking on your jetsetting journey. While the majority of countries around the world don’t have any particular dress code for tourists, there are still a select few countries such as the UAE, Sudan, Uganda and France that have special (and sometimes considered strict) dress codes that every visitor must adhere to. Doing this is not only a way to show respect to the country you are visiting, but will also help to ensure that you don’t run into any trouble that may disrupt your trip.

Top Tip: If you’re looking for local dress-code friendly items such as head scarves or long trousers, we highly recommend browsing through eBay where you’ll find thousands of options for your travels. As an added bonus, you can even earn Qantas Points when you shop on eBay, so head on over now!

  1. Be Sure To Check The Weather

Now that we’ve gotten the nitty-gritty out of the way, it’s time to focus on building a holiday wardrobe that will turn heads wherever you go. One of the most important criteria to focus on when looking for the best style picks is, of course, the weather. Nothing ruins a perfectly planned holiday more than unexpected weather changes, so be sure to do your research on what to expect at your destination in terms of climate. For example, if you are planning a trip to Melbourne which is notorious for its 4 seasons in a day, it is always wise to pack a jacket, scarf, weather-proof footwear and anything else you may need to ensure you’re ready for whatever is thrown your way. And yes, this applies even if you’re planning a trip right smack in the middle of Summer!

  1. Work Within Your Budget

There is no point in blowing your money on a killer wardrobe, only to realise there is nothing left to spend on your holiday. This is why working within your budget when picking the best outfits for your upcoming holiday is key. For example, if you’re travelling to a winter destination such as Canada or Switzerland, the last thing you should want is to waste a bunch of money on costly winter clothing and not have enough to indulge in good food, tourist attractions and anything else your heart desires. When it comes to single-use pieces (that is, items of clothing that you probably won’t wear in your daily life), we highly recommend shopping around your local op-shops or second hand vintage stores where you will be able to find stylish outfits at a heavily discounted price.

  1. Comfort Is Key

Chances are you’ll be spending a lot of time on your feet when you are on holiday and the last thing you want is to be stuck in uncomfortable clothing or shoes that do more harm than good to your overall comfort and wellbeing. This is why prioritising comfort is always our top suggestion when picking your holiday outfits. If you’ll be walking a lot, opt for a comfortable pair or two of sneakers that will provide adequate cushioning and help to prevent blisters from forming on your feet. Similarly, depending on the activities you have planned, choosing outfits that keep you comfortable and don’t constrict your movement are key. However, with all that said, comfy clothing doesn’t have to look frumpy or boring. In fact, there are dozens of stylish activewear brands to pick from in 2022, so you can guarantee that you’ll look stylish even when you’re hiking up Machu Picchu.

  1. Focus On Functionality

Similar to the pointer above, focusing on functionality is another important aspect when choosing the best style picks for your next holiday. For extra ease and comfort during your vacation, we highly suggest opting for low maintenance fabrics that you can grab, pack and go. You’ll also want to choose clothing that is lightweight and easy to lug around in your suitcase, because the last thing you want is to have to deal with excess baggage fees at the airport. Whenever possible, we also suggest choosing pieces that can be used more than once to reduce the overall amount of packing you need to do.

  1. Consider A Capsule Wardrobe

Last but not least, if all else fails, it may be time to consider a capsule wardrobe for your holiday. For those who don’t know what a capsule wardrobe is, it simply is a limited selection of interchangeable clothing pieces that complement each other. Sounds perfect for a holiday, right? If you’re looking to travel light, hate packing or simply don’t want to spend too much time thinking about your vacation attire, a holiday capsule wardrobe is something that you will find incredibly practical and useful. Most capsule wardrobes resemble and include the following items:

  • A basic white T-shirt;
  • A dress shirt;
  • A comfortable pair of jeans;
  • A pair of trousers;
  • A simple evening dress;
  • A lightweight cover-up or jacket;
  • A swimsuit;
  • A scarf; and
  • A pair or two of comfortable shoes.

All you have to do is to mix and match these items and you’ll be able to come up with a variety of unique outfits that will see you through your whole getaway in style.

Latest fashion trends for fall 2022

Fall is quite a fashionable season. It is time to slowly get our leather jackets out and prepare for romantic, gloomy days. Some people quite enjoy fall as it is not as hot as summer, yet not as cold as winter.

Layered outfits are very popular every fall, as they give us an opportunity to look fashionable but also protect ourselves from colder weather and rain. For all our fashionistas out there, here is a list of top fashion trends for fall clothes and accessories.

Accessories

Balaclavas

This season’s top choices bring us something quite extraordinary as a fashion accessory.

The piece in question is – balaclava, or commonly known as ski mask. The famous fashion brands like Gucci went crazy for these, and the runways are full of them.

They are probably more suitable for winter, but you can get yours to fit the fall weather by choosing the right materials.

Aside from the classic black one, the pinks are quite trendy right now (with all the fuzz around the Barbie-core aesthetic), and the same goes for knitted balaclavas.

Umbrellas

Maybe not straight from the runway, but let’s face it – we all need umbrellas for this season. But, an umbrella being a necessity does not really mean it has to be plain or boring. Go crazy with umbrella patterns, and match their colors to your shoes, your bag, or your jacket.

Pick brighter colors and patterns to break the dark and greyish fall days.

Headphones

Headphones are a must-have for many people. Whether you use them for practical, work-related reasons, or to simply enjoy your favorite tunes, you surely have at least a pair at home. Apart from their technical use, no one said headphones can not be fashionable!

There are tons of models out there that will satisfy your technical needs, but also make you look stylish while wearing them. The color palette is not reserved for darks only anymore, so you can get a pair in any color you like.

https://www.pexels.com/photo/pink-corded-headphones-on-pink-and-teal-wall-1037996/

Whether you like to wear a huge, hip-hop producer-style pair, or a discreet pair of earbuds, what is important is to keep your ears safe. Do not go too loud even though it is often tempting. If you are concerned about your hearing, you can always take an online hearing test.

Sunglasses and jewelry

Sunnies are always the main accessory, no matter the season. Fall brings us futuristic glasses, similar to those that were worn in the late 90’s and early 00’s.

A similar goes for jewelry. If we look at the latest fashion trends, the Y2K comeback is not nearly over! Large and thick hoop earrings and bangle bracelets were seen all over the runways.

Another thing that is coming back strong is a tie. If you enjoy playing with fashion in a gender-non-conforming way, rock a tie with a skirt, or a dress. Ties are not reserved exclusively for businessmen, it is 2022. Plus, they are giving nostalgic 00’s Avril Lavigne punkish vibes!

Good old leather jacket

The first piece seems to never go out of style. You guessed it, it is a leather jacket! This fall the classic biker-style jacket is coming back to runways, and it is coming back big. If you are not a big fan of genuine leather, you can always find a great high-quality jacket made from other materials.

Vegan leather looks great and it is animal friendly! Pair it with a long, flowy dress, or a skirt, for a nice contrasted look that is also in style now. A full-on black outfit always looks trendy, and a biker jacket will make that look pop even more.

The classic black jacket goes well with almost anything, but if you want to make a statement, go for another color. A burgundy leather jacket will make you easily spotted in a crowd.

Apart from jackets, leather pants and all-leather outfits are going to be extremely trendy this fall.

Pilot jackets

The next piece is also a jacket. Popular pilot jackets are always trendy in some form. This fall we are going to wear oversized and long pilot jackets. The accent is on oversized models in multiple different styles.

Go for classic darker tones, or if you feel bolder get yourself a bright, dramatically oversized one. It is a statement piece for sure.

Material-wise, these jackets are perfect for fall if you pick a waterproof one. Fall is in most places quite a rainy season, so having this jacket will help you not get wet, even if you forget to bring your trusty umbrella.

Maxi skirts and dresses

Flowy maxi dresses with classic silhouettes are all the rage now! What is best about this trend is that you can still wear all your summer dresses, just accessorize them appropriately to match the season and the weather.

Knitted tops

Knitted soft tops are back! Cozy and warm, plus stylish – can not get better than that! Pair a knitted top with some leather pants and nice boots for a spicy look.

Corsets for a romantic look

Both Victorian and modern twists on corsets are in style now thanks to the trending TikToks on this popular social network platform. Corset tops, short corsets, long ones with steel boning, you name it, everything goes.

It gives your body the dramatic hourglass figure and hugs your curves in just the right places. You can wear it over shirts, t-shirts, or dresses, or opt for a more discreet (yet quite fabulous) look and wear it as an undergarment.

This statement piece is definitely something different, so if you are not experienced with wearing it, it may seem scary at first. Our advice is to try a corset top first, and eventually get one with so-called bones.

It is extremely important not to wear it too tightly, as it can be pretty restricting.

Fall fashion always hits differently. Stay stylish with these tips, but remember that you are the one wearing the clothes. Alex from LGBTQ Flags Australia says that queer fashion and fashion in general is all about freedom. You can always make your own twist on outfits and unapologetically be yourself.
