“Power” and “creative influence” at Vogue are synonymous with “Anna Wintour,” “Andre Leon Talley, and “Candy Pratts Price.” If you’re asking yourself, “Who is Candy Pratts Price?“, she’s only the Executive Fashion Director of Style.com and, unbeknownst to many, also a proud Latina!
Pratts Price’s name is quite familiar to people in the industry but outside of it, not many people know that fashion’s top publication is powered in part by a woman of color. After spending eight years as Vogue‘s highly regarded Fashion Director of Accessories, Pratts Price assumed the creative helm of Style.com, where she’s helped turn the magazine’s once lukewarm online portal into the hottest fashion destination on the Web (aside from us of course, ;-). Her resume is a Fashion Ivy League showcase, with stints such as Fashion Director at Harper’s Bazaar, VP and Creative Director at Ralph Lauren, and Creative Director of the VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards behind her.
As Latina magazine mentions in its profile of Pratts Price, it might be difficult to picture this formidable high-fashion authority “as a young girl eating pork chops and arroz con pollo in a crowded Manhattan apartment” yet she openly credits her Puerto Rican roots with instilling her passion for fashion, the influence of which you can note in her flair for the sexy and dramatic in her personal style!
The affect of her Latino roots isn’t limited to just her fashions. Professionally and in the community, whether it’s her recent “Latin Beat” guide to summer style or support of El Museo del Barrio, the Washington Heights native and FIT graduate seems to not have lost her sense of self or heritage in the maelstrom of the fashion biz. A champion of Latino designers such as Narciso Rodriguez, Francisco Costa, and Oscar de la Renta, she’s also the recipient of CFDA’s Eugenia Sheppard Award for excellence in journalism and author of the recent style tome American Fashion Accessories. I think we’ve found a new Bombshell to emulate, no?
If you dig Candy’s flair for bold colors, statement necklaces, and rich textures, channel her sultry-chic style with these pieces! And learn more about how to dress like a fashion editor here!

Here’s a quick pic of Onyinye from Silver Spring, Maryland:
Seems this 20-year-old fashionista wore this saucy ‘fit for the 4th of July.
What do you think of her style?

They say, “We wanna know your take on the series of shaved heads. Is It Swagger Jacking? (or) Is It A Form of Self-Expression?”
I personally think that while shaved side style has been around for quite a while, the recent cropping up of clippers is definitely copycat. It’s one thing if you, like Kelis, are the only one rocking a style. Quite another if you adopt the style a week after your best friend does.
But what do you think? Swagger jacking or self expression?
Fashion coalesces with candy with these Couture Lollipops available at Sugar Factory:
The $25 whoppers are faves of Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, and Britney Spears, and come with a plastic case so you can save some for later. Match yummy lolli’s in blue, pink, yellow, or even green to your latest outfit.
I personally don’t mind a 25 cent Strawberry Blow Pop, but if you care to indulge, purchase couture candy at www.sugarfactory.com.
Cici loves her Loubie’s! She recently rocked a pair of the brand’s Leopard low heel boots with Current Elliott Destroyed Jeans and a slick leather jacket:
The wild pair instantly jazzes up her neutral outfit. Get yours for $1,095 at www.saks.com.
