She says, “”I’ve been doing okay…Work helps focus all of that energy on something that is of value to you.” She’s just back from vacation, a princely three days on a beach. “It was the first time I had to myself since Michael passed, the first time I could get away since all of that.”
Some of the best fashion can be seen off the runway as fashionistas and fashionistos adorn themselves in the most creative ways. I’ll be there with my Canon and Flip Video to capture it all.
3. Beautiful New Faces
We of course love Chanel, Arlenis, and Sessilee, but it’s also great to see new girls on the block. Be on the lookout this year for Jeneil Williams (left), a 5’9″ stunner who’s made cameos in Teen and Italian Vogue, and Texan R’el Dade who recently debuted on Valentino’s runway.
4. Shows
We’re not 100% sure if Baby Phat is showing this year, but in case Kimora takes a year off to tend to her newborn baby and family, we still have lots of shows to dip into! Adriana and I have been confirmed for BCBG, Herve Leger, Christian Siriano, Nicole Miller, ARISE, and more. While the tents still hold their allure we secretly can’t wait for She by Sheree at the Metropolitan Pavilion. Stay tuned!
5. Parties!
With the MTV Music Awards going down on the 13th, there will be an onslaught of celebrities and paparrazzi flash moments. We hope to report on all the after hours fun bringing you the hottest pix and fashion dish.
Today I wanted to tell you about one of Britain’s most fantastic designers, Duro Olowu:
A Nigerian native and UK resident, Duro began his career as a lawyer before trying his hand at design. His vivid prints, bright colors, and expert cuts caught the eyes of US and UK editors, whose praise and exposure eventually helped him secure the ‘Designer of the Year’ award in the 2005 British Fashion Awards.
Most noted for his fearless combination of patterns and fabrics, Olowu flawlessly marries African prints with European tailoring. In his Spring 2009 collection you can find dresses patched together from Parisian silk or Moroccon upholstery, gold lamé and polka dot shifts, and blazers and pants groupings featuring purple, yellow, and teal. Busy tones and designs are calmed down by Olowu’s simple proportions and flattering silhouettes:
Olowu is married to Thelma Golden, Chief Curator and Director of the Studio Museum in Harlem:
Golden’s eye for art and beauty undoubtedly helps inform her husband’s work.
Look who went back to black while spotted in LA!
It’s one of our fave bombshells Kim Kardashian rocking the dark hair again with a hunter green shirt dress, large black tote and signature YSL Tribute Too Platform Pumps.

Today we have Chastity, a plus size fashionista from my hometown, ATL, GA:
She says, “I am a plus size stylista! In the picture I have on a Jibri purple peplum dress, a pair of green Steve Madden 5inch suede shoes, and a gray conversation piece necklace from Banana Republic. I hope you like!”
I do!
Chastity, you present a flawless example of how fall’s hottest trends can work for women of every shape and size.
In the meantime, what do you think of Chastity’s style?

Hey Guys!
So as you know, Fashion Week begins on September 10th!
This chic outfit is inspired by the upcoming 7 days of fashionable activity:
Any fashion editor will tell you that when all else fails, black on black is always chic. But don’t go for boring! Add a bit of texture to an ebony palette by wearing jackets fringed with feathers, torn, frayed skinny jeans, and over the knee suede black boots:
Be inspired…then create a similar look of your own!
