Hey Y’all!
So I’m going on vacation! I’m hitting up the Big Apple tomorrow to catch up with my peeps (and to watch the Real Housewives of ATL), then going to the Bahamas for a family reunion. I’m sure you guys are traveling as well this summer, so in anticipation surf and sand, I’ve compiled 100 items any jetsetting fashionista should have on hand:
1. Flirty Dresses:

Who wants to worry about coordinating outfits in high heat? Make your choice easy by rocking fashionable tunics or mini dresses that are fab enough to make an impression, but light enough to keep you comfy:
2. Cool Shades:

A cute pair of sunnies can instantly upgrade your swagger. Experiment with different colors, shapes, and gradients:
3. Wedge Heels:

I’m always an advocate of a wedge heel that will offer comfort while making you look tall and svelte:
4. Statement Jewels:

Dress up your simple tunics with long necklaces, sparkly earrings, and big bracelets:
5. Lightweight Tote:

Cart your summer reading and important docs in a lightweight canvas tote that will reflect your fashionista spirit:
6. Flats:

Run in between terminals or saunter around the beach in a pair of stylish flats:
7. Swimsuits:

Pack your standby bikini and one piece, but also look into suits with cut out styles or embellishments:
8. Waterproof Makeup:

Look fly by the poolside in products that won’t smudge with a splash of water or sweat:
9. Cute Carry on:

I hate checking bags, so have invested in colorful yet compact luggage that can fit all my essentials and pop into an overhead compartment:
10. Summer Reading!

I can’t wait to turn into my newest issues of the New Yorker and Vogue on the beach, and of course I have fash-lit (“The House of Gucci“) to read on the plane! Summer is all about getting time to read the bomb novel, so get it poppin!
I’m off to pack!
In the meantime, tell me where your travels are taking you this summer;)

Hey!
Today we have a submission from Siera hailing from Chicago:
She says, “I just wanted to submit this picture of me leaving a club in downtown Chicago.”
I’m feeling your rocker chic skirt, jewelry, and hairstyle!
Definitely Fashion Bomb material!

So it seems all the rumors about a SATC Sequel are true!
Grant Wifley Casting is holding an open call for background performers for Sex & the City 2:

They say, “We’re seeking actors to play Fashion Models, Celebrity types, Upscale Socialites, Fashionistas, Urban Club goers, Gays and Lesbians, International types (Middle Eastern, Arabic, Asian, European, British), and Professional Soccer Players.“
That’s certainly a wide range of people, but I think the main requirement is that you’re fabulous!
The open call is taking place in NYC on Tuesday August 4th at Metropolitan Pavilion (125 West 18th Street between 6th and 7th Aves).
Screen Actors Guild members are welcome from 10am-12:30pm. Everyone else roll out from 1:30pm-4pm.
If you can’t make the open call, e-mail a recent picture and contact info to sexandthecity2@gwcnyc.com .
I might just mail in my picture! One of my random life goals is to be an extra in a movie (no lie). How cool would it be to make a splash in Sex & the City!?!?
Newly engaged crooner Christina Milian popped up last night in NYC for a Grey Goose and BET event:

She went for a rocker/retro vibe with two toned hair and a patterned black and white shirt set off by a gray metallic skirt, red belt, and neon nails.
There’s quite a lot going on with the outfit, but her hot light wash denim jacket seems to pull it all together.
What do you think? Is it hot or does it make you go hmm….

Trendsetter Rihanna stepped out recently in a new look that even she doesn’t look happy with:

A blue doily like hat set to match her denim strapless dress and blue pumps:

She looks mad, doesn’t she? Granted, she’s probably more upset at the poparrazzi than her stylist, but who knows?
Fashion Forward Lady Gaga is known for rocking with out the box toppers:

Will you be following this trend?
Hey hey hey!

Hey Bombers!
So in light of Solange’s courageous cut, I thought it would be cool to tap Erin from the dope blog Scandalous Beauty to tell us how best to transition from permed to natural hair.
Enjoy!

Hey Fashion Bombers!
I’m so honored to be here and give you advice for your potential transition from relaxed to natural hair. I’m amazed at the increasing numbers of women who are rocking afros, locs, twists and things of the like. I transitioned to natural hair 3 years ago, and needless to say, I’ve had quite an interesting journey.

I loved sleek styles, from curly up-do’s to short crops. But, I had to take the leap to natural hair after I noticed my hair was getting thinner and breaking off constantly.
To transition to natural hair you have so many options! You can simply stop getting relaxers, and let your natural hair grow while taking care of your relaxed hair. If you’re feeling really bold, you can chop it all off and sport a low cut!

Hey, it’s quick and easy!
What I opted to do was to wear braids, cornrows, weaves and wigs while transitioning. I would cut off a few inches of relaxed hair and then cover it with a different style. I transitioned for almost a year without ever wearing my real hair out in public. I spent hundreds of dollars trying to find the best products for my hair. Here are a few of my faves:
1. Carol’s Daughter Hair Balm ($12, www.sephora.com) was one of the products that I loved to use on my ‘fro:

It made my hair soft and shiny while adding moisture. My hair loved the shea butter and oil mix, and it worked best when my hair was damp.
2. Even though this costs an arm and a leg, I used the Miss Jessie’s Baby Buttercream ($58 for 16 oz, www.missjessies.com) as a moisturizer:

It smells heavenly and a little definitely goes a long way.
3. My holy grail hair care line is Oyin Handmade ($10-$20, www.oyinhandmade.com):

I was on a quest for all natural products, and this line came highly recommended. I started out using their sample pack, which included Honey Hemp Conditioner, Greg Juice, Whipped Pudding and Shine ‘N Define. I haven’t looked back. As the years went on I bought more and more of their products, and in February I made the switch to using their products almost exclusively.
Once your hair is fully natural, there are a lot of things that will change from your old beauty routine. You should only comb your hair with a wide tooth comb while wet, preferably while drenched in conditioner. There may be times that your hair feels extra dry–this can be a major deterrent, but don’t give up! Try adding oils to your conditioners, and occasionally spraying your hair with a mix of glycerine and water.

Thanks Erin!
I’m already a Carol’s Daughter and Miss Jessie’s devotee, but Oyin is a new one. I’ll check it out!
