So I was on AOL Black Voices and stumbled across an article about a new brand of Oprah certified jeans called CJ by Cookie Johnson:
The brand, described as, “The perfect jeans for real women with real booties,” was created in collaboration between Magic Johnson’s wife, Cookie, and Michael Glasser, founder of Seven For All Mankind, Citizens of Humanity, and Rich & Skinny. Ranging in price from $140-$200, the jeans have lots of fabulous stretch, and go from a size 2-18.
The comments on the post exploded, as most women said that $140+ was way too much to spend on jeans. They maintained that you could get the curvy denim look for less with more affordable PZI’s. It made me think: what kind of jeans do you guys prefer?
I’ll admit, I was a slave to Seven for all Mankind for a long time–I loved their cool whiskered materials and ample stretch! But as I threw out my favorite pair most recently thanks to a completely rubbed away thigh area, I had to reconsider those $150 + expenditures. I just bought a pair of Hudson jeans, but they’re pretty pricey too…my little sister swears by Forever 21 denim, but I’m not sure.
It’s almost November–high time to start thinking about investing in your cold weather wardrobe!
Every day this week, the Fashion Bomb will be offering you items and options for your Fall/Winter Wardrobe Checklist.
First up? Coats:
A classic coat is an integral part to any outfit–you wear it all the time for warmth, fashion, and function. When looking for a new look, choose something you can mix and match with most separates and accessories in your wardrobe. Read on for 50+ coats for men and women–at every budget:
Under $100:
If you want to go crazy with color or patterns, do so with a low cost option that you won’t mind giving away or consigning once the season passes:
$100-$250:
Splurge on a great seasonless wool or puffy down in a fashionable neutral that melds well with your look. When shopping for wool, be sure to perform the wrinkle test: squeeze a bit of fabric in your hand for about 15 seconds, then look to see if it’s wrinkled. If the fabric bounces back, you’ll look pressed and fresh dressed for the winter. If not, leave it on the rack!
$250 +:
Save the big bills for great names that are synonymous with quality. I personally have a Mackage coat that I *love*. It feature black heavy wool, an interesting funnel neck, and a chic belt that makes any outfit super stylish. Even though I bought it years ago, it always seems on trend and fun. Guys, we’ve got you too!
For winter, go for a classic peacoat or a warm down number in a fun or neutral color:

Stumbled upon this piping hot new video by Chris Brown:
I was expecting a heart stopping dance sequence…seems these guys just sort’ve threw something together last minute.
That said, seems Chris has taken to the gym to meditate on his past transgressions…shawty is looking built! Right?
What do you think of the video?
Julissa Bermudez shined on the red carpet for Thurgood Marshall’s College fund fashion show, rocking a Christopher Kane for Topshop mini dress and suede over-the-knee boots:
The Mirror & eyelet embellished powermesh bodycon dress is fab for a fun club night! Its long sleeves are perfect for the cold weather, yet the frock’s short hem and embellishments make it party ready.

I recently stumbled across this picture of Genevieve Jones from the 2009 Whitney Museum Art Gala last week:
She wore a flowing satin navy jacket and pant set with strappy black pumps and what appears to be a swimwear inspired floral bandeau top.
I’m on the fence with this one!
The practical fashionista in me would say that bandeau’s should be banned unless they’re on the beach! But Genevieve is so chic, she actually sort of pulls this look off!
Kicking off our fabulous week is Bombshell Nika, a student from DC who recently relocated to NYC:
About her look, she says, “My style is eclectic. I express myself creatively and enjoy having fun with clothing…I often mix colors and prints. I love vintage , overtly feminine pieces, and bright colors.”
She continues, “When I’m in New York, I’m always inspired by people around me. I love that NYC encourages individual style.”
“…I am also largely inspired by women who express a sort of strong femininity in the way that they dress: Kerry Washington, Giovanna Battaglia, and Carrie (SATC). I also admire the dramatic fearless style of Josephine Baker.”
Chic! And how creative–cool that you’re wearing a blazer under a vest and belt. So interesting, might have to try that one!

So while browsing online, I came across Manik Magazine, a forthcoming online mag catering to fabulous plus size fashionistas:
With a staff of twelve, the magazine says it is, “a monthly online fashion and lifestyle publication for the fashionably conscious curvaceous woman who craves the utmost in apparel and accessories.” They promise to bring beauty, style, social, and health editorials together in one place, embracing fashion trends while also encouraging a healthy lifestyle!

The Fly Guys always have the best videos, and I recently peeped this ‘Cymphonique’ banger by Master P’s daughter Little Miss Swagger:
She’s definitely cute, but part of me is like…aren’t you a little young to be moving your hips like that?!? My friend was just watching it and said, “Her parents need to be locked up!” LOL
New York and Las Vegas were brimming with fun events, including Teen Vogue’s Fashion University, Thurgood Marshall’s College Fund Fashion Show, parties, and store launches! Read on to see what some of our favorite stars were wearing and tell us: were they hot? Or did they make you go hmm….
Teen Vogue’s Fashion University was on this past weekend, and of course Fabulosity Queen Kimora Lee attended. She blessed the fun event in a belted black sequined shift, accented with suede over the knee boots and dangling, sparkling, silver chains. The certified mogul and mom pulled her hair back into a braid, certainly a smart, chic look for a sophisticated Fashion Bomb favorite!
Several stars came out for the 4th Annual Thurgood Marshall College Fund Front Row Fashion Show, including Sherri Shepherd who looked svelte in an emerald green jersey dress with a bias cut neckline. Her strappy gold sandals and corresponding jewelry are undoubtedly hot, but hmm, the matchy matchy green eyeshadow takes away from her overall look. A light dusting of a gold or bronze shadow like Amber Lights would have taken this cute ensemble to the next level.
Naomi Campbell gave a speech at the event, wearing what looks like a corset inspired Dolce & Gabbana black dress and lovely jacket. Say what you like about Naomi Campbell, but this supermodel is consistently fierce and that night was no exception! Hot!
Burgeoning fashionista Julissa Bermudez also made an appearance wearing one of the season’s hottest trends, thigh high boots with a high hemmed embellished cocktail. Snaps for keeping jewelry simple and allowing the dress to shine on its own. Hot!
And Real Housewives of ATL diva Sheree Whitfiled was in the house, working a poppin red lip and a cute banged hairstyle. While she scored well in the hair and makeup department, hmm, not really feeling the silver leggings and hit-at-the-hip top for the mom of two. I’ve seen Sheree in much better, and the young rocker chic inspired leather and chain look doesn’t quite fit her ‘mature and elegant’ aspirations. Hmm…
Mary J. Blige showed how to rock tights right at the Gucci Icon-Temporary Flash Sneaker Store Launch, slipping on a pair of Gucci tights with a comfy knit cowl neck tunic and tailored black coat. Cute suede ankle boots and a unique exotic skin clutch guaranteed a simple yet hot look!
Crooner Wyclef Jean also attended the fashionable event in a slick yet simple black leather jacket, white shirt, and dark jeans. A pair of statement sneakers provided an exclamation point to his laid back yet alluring choice.
Lastly, in Las Vegas, the Black Eyed Peas celebrated their chart topping success at the Bank Nightclub at the Bellagio Hotel. Fergie sizzled in an all black embellished cocktail while Will.I.Am and Taboo rocked leather looks with jeans and sneakers. I’m especially feeling Taboo’s red sneakers, which he aptly matched with his MJ inspired jacket. They represented well in a cohesive hot look, perfect for a pop group at the top of their game.
