Happy Labor Day Bombshells!
Claire and the rest your favorite Fashion Bomb team are taking most of today off as we gear up for New York Fashion Week, which starts this Thursday, September 10! But we couldn’t leave y’all hanging without at least lil’ weekend “Hot! or Hmm…” action, though…
Budding style icon Amber Rose was spotted out shopping with her man Kanye in L.A. Rocking a short-sleeved coral sheath, strappy round-toe sandals, and stacked gold bangles, the ‘fit is actually pretty conservative compared to what Ms. Rose normally wears. It’s a cute look (love the sunglasses), though I’d have liked to see this with a different lip color and not what’s become her signature neon pink hue.
For all you hardcore Sex and the City fans out there, your favorite stylish gal-about-town, Carrie Bradshaw (née Sarah Jessica Parker) recently filmed a few scenes in NYC’s West Village, still very much in good fashion form. In one shot from the sequel to the blockbuster movie, Carrie was seen wearing a dress from Dior’s memorable “Newspaper” collection from a few seasons ago with a pair of black lace Louboutin booties. In another take, she sported faded, high-waisted jeans with a mini-plaid shirt and lilac platforms studded with gold. Some eagle-eyed fans noted that Carrie’s worn the John Galliano-designed Dior on the show before–maybe this is a flashback scene? I guess we’ll find out next spring!
Finally, R&B songbird Mya performed in Atlantic City over the weekend. Her charcoal brocade halter number, curly hair, and tassel earrings look great on her but the shoes just don’t belong with that outfit, Hmm…in fact, I don’t know if I’m feeling the shoes, period. Are y’all?
Enjoy your holidays!
~Adri
Though the 19 year-old is five months pregnant, her comp card was included in her agency’s show package. After news broke about her pregnancy, many questioned whether she would still stomp the runway. The answer’s yes! For now.
I know. It looks like I have a minor stud obsession going on, but don’t judge me. Just look at the boots. I never knew Rock & Republic had it in them…until now. They’re undeniably stunning and are great for transitioning into fall. Very Keri Hilson. They ring in at $425 for all you fabulous fashionistas, and you can get them here.
I told you studs weren’t over. One would assume that studded jeans would end up looking like a bedazzling session gone awry. But Asos hit’s the mark in all the right ways. Incredibly trendy and great color for the season, rock this pair of jeans and you’ll definitely look fierce…not like an awful DIY project. They’re about $92, and you can get them here.
We’re taking it down south for Friday with Bombshell Janasia from Wichita Falls, Texas:
The well edited stylista only included her name, location, and one picture, but from what I can see, she has a great handle on patterns! Those sandals look fun and festive, and they coordinate well with her black print tank.
What do you guys think?
Fashion Bombshell of the Day is a feature that showcases the singular style and flair of Fashion Bomb Readers. Send your name, location, and Fashion Bombshell of the Day Picture to thefashionbomb@gmail.com.
If you don’t have the $490 (which is a little too much for a belt in my opinion), then you can try Asos’ alternative with their Cut-Out Waist Belt. Granted, I do love the construction of YSL’s a bit more. But it would be a little more cost-effective to get Asos’ at $28.
Hey Guys!
So I’m fresh off yet another international flight! Had to come to town for TWO weddings and of course Fashion Week!
I am exhausted, but Mail Bombs are always live. Let’s go!
First, Corinne says, “I am so in love with Solange’s earrings.”
“… Where can I get them?”
Solange’s melting Chanel earrings weren’t on the Chanel.com website, so we figured they were ‘inspired.’ Adriana found the lucite lookers in gold for $38 at www.hellodrama.com:
And I found these melting CC monogram necklaces for $32 a pop at www.kikastyle.com:
If you want Solange’s exact color, you can buy two necklaces here and do a little DIY work at home. OR simply buy them in gold here. Either way they’re a recession friendly purchase!
In another Knowles bomb, Nikki asks, “Who is the designer of Beyonce’s skirt?”
“…I love it!“
According to Red Carpet Fashion Awards, Beyonce is rocking an amalgam of these looks from 3.1 Phillip Lim’s Spring 2009 collection:
Lim’s will cost you a pretty penny, so if want a similar Beyonce look, get it for less with these:
Next, Meghan says, “Can you please tell me who makes the shoes Kimora is wearing?”
“…They’re beautiful!!”
Kimora jumped on the Camilla Skovgaard train with Halle Berry and Keke Palmer, rocking the brand’s $395 T Strap Sandals with Diane von Furstenberg’s Jeanne Wrap Dress. Get her exact look plus a few affordable alternatives below:
Now for some wardrobe queries!
Samantha says, “I am going to the Urban League Black College Football classic on the 18th in New York. There will be tailgating and performances. I’m basically trying to meet a man. LOL. Any wardrobe suggestions?”
LOL indeed Samantha! Here’s to keeping it real. I’d say that you should mix comfort with femininity, look saucy without trying too hard. Emphasize your bust in a casual v-neck or button up top, and pair with on trend dark jeans. Play up your accessories (sunglasses, necklace, bracelets) to stand out, and opt for comfortable, practical shoes. Fall is on its way, so I picked out a few plaid top picks along with flat boots:
Lastly, Theresa says, “I am looking for a pair of hot knee high boots in black or gray!! Price range??? Anything a college student will be able to afford. “
Here are 10 knee high black boots under $100:
That does it for today!
I am beyond exhausted, but will update just a bit more before hibernating.
Have amazing weekends and enjoy the three day holiday!
Smootches!
