Hey Guys!
I was going to save this Vintage Fab, but it was so cute I just couldn’t resist!
Long time reader and first time submitter Tracy sent over these fabulous pictures of her stylish family:
She says, “I was inspired by the previous Vintage Fab posts to submit photos of my mother and her sisters.”
“…That’s my mother, getting into her MG…”
“…and my mother and father at a Marine Corps ball.”
Tracy, these pictures are so cute. I’m loving the Afro’s in the first pic, especially the two toned style on the right.
Just…amazing in a way only a Vintage Fab could be!
What do you guys think?
This weekend brought on a whirlwind of events from London to California as bomb celebrities attended movie premieres, photo shoots, and club nights. Of course some were Hot! and others, hmm…you be the judge!
British Bombshell Alesha Dixon attended the Photocall for Golden Hearts Appeal in a strapless bronze cocktail worn with nude heels, a statement bracelet, and simple black rosette earrings. The simplicity of her tailored frock allows for little details like her bright red lip, slick hairstyle, and chunky jewelry to shine. Hot!
It seems Beyoncéis also in London, partying it up with her bodyguard Julius in tow. For a night out she wore a sparkly off shoulder mini dress with nude strappy sandals, and carried a ruffled leather jacket for warmth against the British chill. I’m feeling her black cuff and bold earrings, but hmm, would have loved a metallic heel and a touch of color on her toes even more! Aside from the minor details, the dress is cute, and Beyoncé looks simple, fresh, and hot!
Back in Los Angeles Zoe Saldana stunted on the red carpet of the Moca 30th Anniversary Gala in a Spring 2010 strapless tulle gown by Marchesa worn with simple black sandals and a black clutch. Though the dress seems to envelope her small frame, I’m loving her glamorous hairstyle, elegant diamond earrings, and confidence! Though some have likened her floor length dress to a trash bag, I think she definitely pulls this off. Hot!
Ciara was also in attendance in a somewhat predictable saucy black dress with sheer sleeves that flattered her athletic frame. While I feel I may have seen her in a very similar dress before, her Christian Louboutin studded pumps are amazing! Hot!
Pharrell and Takashi Murakami were also in the house representing for the fellas in on trend bowties and suits. While Murakami went for playful in a graphic sweater and sneakers, both men look appropriate and hot for the fashion laced event!
Elsewhere in LA, Janet Jackson made a special appearance at The Grove shopping center flaunting a very chic leather jacket and large sunglasses offset by cascading tendrils and a killer smile. Ms. Jackson’s large hoop earrings add a youthful essence to her biker chic look. Hot!
Lastly, Claudia Jordan and Elise Neal were snapped shopping in Hollywood, with Elise in a fall perfect belted sweater dress, white boots, and hoops, and Claudia in a blazer and thigh high cowboy boots. While Elise’s boots seem made more street walking, it does work for her overall look, so she’ll get a pass. Claudia, however has way too much going on, from the turquoise bib necklace to her multicolored shoe choice. Hmmm…not working for me.
So I recently wrote an article for AOL BV on Style on red carpet newcomer and Precious star Gabourey “Gabby” Sidibe:
In the article, I highlighted Gabby’s ability to flatter her body type in monochromatic frocks and separates in slimming dark colors and silhouettes that skim over her curves:
While most times, she worked it in empire waist dresses and flattering shrugs, she did have a few misses:
But we all have off days (even if we’re Beyoncé), and all in all, I thought Ms. Sidibe represented well for Plus Sized Stylistas!
When a took a look at the comments, however, I was blown away by the range of emotions her mere presence elicits.
While some people said, “I am so glad to see a plus-size woman in the lime-light…we should have more models and actresses over a size 14!!!” others said, “She is GORGEOUS. I only want her to lose some weight for health reasons only, just like Monique did (who is still FABULOUS). She is a beautiful person, and she seems to have a beautiful spirit.” Some really went for a negative angle and said, “C’mon people…She is unhealthily FAT….If they were doing a documentary on obesity they would use somone like her.“
After Karl Lagerfeld’s comments and all the hubbub over skinny models, the negativity certainly doesn’t surprise me. While her health is a concern, I’m personally glad that someone like Gabby can represent flawlessly on the red carpet in glamorous looks that suit her youth, body, and rising star status.
There are some, however, that say that her size is setting a bad ‘example’ for others and that pretty dresses are simply covering up a serious health problem.
Ciera hailing from San Antonio, Texas submitted the following pix for Bombshell of the Day:
She didn’t provide much info on her style, but did send us a link to her blog, www.classcie.blogspot.com.
What do you think of our Texas Belle?

The video is absolutely perfect in its sheer simplicity. No need for Hype Williams level special effects, just a hand held camera and a lot of heart.
And I love this opening line, “I asked for an around the way filet, you bring me stuck up tuna.” Genius!
Enjoy:)
Ciara sizzled on the red carpet of the 30th Anniversay Moca Gala in a bold black dress and a hot pair of Christian Louboutin Pigalle Pumps:
Get the mouth watering pair for $1,040 at My Theresa here:
Or hit up your local Zara. I swear I saw a pair of look-a-likes when I went there last!
Whatever you do you’ll be sure to turn heads in these studded beauts that can be worn with anything from jeans to red carpet worthy dresses.
AOL Stylist reports that Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Burberry bags have been spotted at the Costco Warehouse Shopping Club at East 116th street in New York:
They say, “The new location currently has Chanel Classic Flap handbags available for $1,999…and they sold out of Louis Vuitton Speedy bags, regularly priced from $665 to more than $3,000, all three going for $589 a pop.”
Wow, talk about fast fashion! It seems the location also stocks Ferragamo and Tod’s bags.

New York Magazine reports that ‘shoe freaks’ have been calling Alexander McQueen’s offices, asking to purchase the ‘alien’ shoes he debuted on his Spring 2010 runway:
Though most eager stylistas are interested in the shoes as works of art, the article surmises that some would actually wear these clunkers as an accent to a cocktail a la Daphne Guinness:
After my bunion surgery, I have had a slight aversion to heels of any kind, but will make exceptions for practical pumps or the errant pair of L.A.M.B platforms.
But these just look painful.
Where do your toes go? Aren’t they heavy? And isn’t just the thought of tripping and breaking your leg enough to dissuade these diehard shoe lovers?
What do you think? Would you rock these?
Something tells me we’ll be seeing McQueen fiend Rihanna tottering in these tres soon…
The ever fashionable Cassie & Amerie were both spotted rocking Rodarte’s $3,688 Fall 2009 Collection Thigh High Boots:
While Cassie wore the boots in black with a chic cut out black jersey dress for a Nars event, Amerie paired the gray version with a whisper thin peach belted mini and a diva fur.
Nicholas Kirkwood had a hand in designing the beautiful boots, so of course they’re hot! Who wore ’em better?
