We’ve had Bombshells from Texas, Tennessee, New Jersey, and more! Today we’re bringing it to the Midwest with Ciera from Chicago:
She says, “I would describe my style as kinda edgy but always feminine.”
“…My favorite color is black…”
“…I love to pair it with white or hot pink. Whichever one I’m feeling that day.”
OK Ciera! You certainly know what looks good on you, and you work it.
What do you guys think of her style?

Last night the stars came out for the American Music Awards at Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Bomb celebs donned their very best for the red carpet, but you be the judge: Were they Hot? Or did they make you go Hmm….
Alicia Keys went for cute and colorful in a bejeweled blue, purple, and turquoise Giorgio Armani cocktail with electric blue sandals and light catching jewelry. She kept her hair simple in a chic updo, and played up her frock’s embellishments and hues with sparkly ball earrings, a matching ball ring, and a touch of blue eyeshadow. I want to love this look, but everything from the colors to the multicolored stones seems to overwhelm Alicia’s natural beauty. Hmm…
Daring diva Rihanna posed in a black and white laser cut Marchesa frock set off by white ankle strap shoes and minimal accessories. While I was initially torn over this option, the choice is bold, fearless, and fierce! More than a dress, this piece looks like a work of art. Once again, Rihanna shuts it on down.
Mary J Blige graced the carpet in a floor length black gown, with artfully placed knots along her neck and waist line. While Ms. Blige looked radiant with her bright cropped cut, blingin diamonds, and clutch, hmm, I’ve definitely seen her look hotter.
Toni Braxton sashayed into the camera lights showing how to rock the grown and sexy look with a sophisticated black v-neck gown with an ‘up-to-there’ slit, alluring cut outs, and sky high suede platforms. Toni is unquestionably hot, but I must say she has a bit of competition in her date there. The young man is super cute in his navy blazer, dark jeans, and sneakers! Awww…
Speaking of young men, crooner Ne-Yo was also in the building rocking a light gray blazer with contrasting lapels, a dark gray patterned shirt, black jeans, and his signature fedora. I like the idea of this outfit, but think it could have been better executed by replacing the ‘busy’ button down with something more sleek and solid, and perhaps substituting in a pair of chic hard bottoms in for those boots. Hmm…
Melody Thornton sauced it up in a white embellished figure flattering white dress, black booties, and a set of smokey eyes. She definitely has the body to pull this off, and she shines in show stopping simplicity. Hot!
Keri Hilson debuted a new longer hairstyle on the carpet to accent her sparkly sequined black dress and matching sparkling black booties. The hot cocktail’s short hem fits her young stylista image and her subdued sparkle is very apropos for the show. The new hair will have to grow on me…as an aside does anyone else think it makes her look like Lala?
Lastly, Leona Lewis attended the event in what looks to be an abbreviated version of the Vivienne Westwood dress she wore to the MTV Europe Awards. Going for a bit of a ‘rocker chic’ look, she wore the frock with a pair of chain adorned booties and a loose, long hairstyle. I wasn’t a huge fan of the frothy version she wore earlier, and even minus the tulle this PVC look still gets a hmm….
This Awards show was a little disappointing stylewise. Was it for you?
Hey Bombshells! Swagger Paris sends us this picture of Fatou and Gregory, stylists hailing from Paris:
They both actually work with Ghubar Magazine, an online mag we wrote about here.
It seems in Paris, denim on denim is always chic, and works best in fashionable couples. I appreciate both Fatou and Gregory’s ‘outside the box’ hairstyles and subtle accessories.
Sometimes I happen across irreverent, funny fashion items and have to feature them. I chuckled to myself when I saw this $24 “Your Blog Sucks” Tee on Urban Outfitters:
Millions of people have blogs, but not all of them pass the ‘quality’ test. If you have a blogging friend who’d do better keeping their 2 cents to themselves, rock this fun tee with pride. Purchase here:
The $930 stunners have been seen on everyone from Tyra Banks to Vivica Fox and Ciara who’ve worn them in myriad ways.
Tyra Banks accented her beige shift with the shoes in tobacco and black, Vivica Fox wore the stunners in a lilac and navy combo to set off a dark sequined frock, and Ciara wore hers with a spiral shoulder jersey number.
All ladies look lovely, but who wore the Loubies best?
Seems like Topshop has a constant wandering eye when it comes to making dresses “their own.” When compared to Catherine Malandrino’s Draped Silk Jersey dress, the similarities are obvious, but are only limited to the silhouette and assymetry. Topshop went for a knitted version and nixed the ruching that Malandrino’s number has:
Topshop’s is quite a steal at $90, while Malandrino’s is $495. But the question still remains. Would you go with the price, or with quality?
Janet Jackson is back on the scene with a hot new video for her single “Make Me”:
The video has a very ‘fashion’ vibe, witnessed by the singer’s choice of designer Todd Lynn for her metallic shoulder pad jackets.
What do you think of the song (and style)?
I’m still not over electric blue shoes, but Steve Madden’s Tayla is an up to date twist on the classic Mary Jane pump speaks to me, especially in this purple suede:
Very fall/winter appropriate in both texture and hue, and such a steal at $72. Get caught looking chic this season and get them here.
