Hey!
Today’s Bombshell is Ashley Kate from New York City:
She says, “I would definitely describe my style as ELECTRIC…Glamorous and Girly at times.”
“A lot of my outfits look very simple in pictures, but in reality they’re very structured.”
“Most of the time, I wear solid prints. I love wearing black and white. It always looks so chic. I love dressing up like I’m straight from The Factory. I am obsessed with Andy Warhol, Edie Sedgwick, and Donyale Luna.”
Cute looks! My fave would have to be your rivet cardigan and black dress. Simple, yet super stylish!

Today we have Rebekah from Philly for Bombshell of the Day:
She actually submitted one lonely picture before, but came back with a vengeance thanks to a flurry of fun, stylish outfits.
She says, “I am a writer at heart and a part time designer. If I had to describe myself in one word it would be very difficult. I’m a Gemini and I wear that on my sleeve. I can’t go a day without reminding someone, it has everything to do with me. I wouldn’t be me without my many personalities which are forever growing.”
“As for my style, I wouldn’t be able to describe it in words. I allow it to speak for itself. I have gotten so many different descriptions from people so I rather not put myself in a box. I can say that my accessory line is the eclectic side of me.”

Hey Hey!
Today island girl Julesia from St. Vincent courageously submitted her Fashion Bombshell worthy photos:
In her short e-mail she said she was a fashion designer, but didn’t include a link to her website or include pictures of her garments.
Perhaps we can assume she’s wearing her own designs?
Who knows.
Julesia leave a comment and tell us more!
Until then, what do you think of her style?

Today’s Bombshell is aspiring model Lucinda from California:
She says, “ I want to model. The high fashion agencies believe that I am perfect for the commercial agencies, but when I go to the commercial agencies they all say we already have enough black girls.”
“… I always visit the agency’s site before I attend the open call. They only represent a couple of black women who have long hair and have a lighter complexion than I do. The reason I want to model is because I want to see diversity and my complexion represented everywhere –I feel young girls with darker complexions are suffering from self esteem issues and wanting to be lighter. They also may think having shorter or natural hair is a bad thing.”
” I love being African-American and my darker complexion. I was wondering if you knew of anyone that could help, or if I could be featured on your blog. I have attached some photos of myself. Thanks.”
Hi Lucinda! Thanks for writing in. As Renée Thompson demonstrated in the short documentary, The Color of Beauty (which we wrote about here), it’s unquestionably more difficult for models of color to find jobs in the industry. The best thing to do is what you are doing now: speaking out about it, staying positive about your self image, and pushing and persisting until a door opens. The issue needs constant exposure until something changes. I think you have a great style that would look smashing on the pages of any mainstream magazine.
Good luck!
