Hey Hey!
Today we dip down south with Nia from ATL:
She says, “ My personal style is ultra feminine and I don’t live by trends. I’m obsessed with all things girly and would trade pants and shorts for skirts and dresses any day. I love bright colors, bold prints, and short hemlines.”
“… Often when I have nothing to wear I make something (like that maxi dress below). Because I am petite I live for high heels with platforms.”
“… I’m a designer and I’m mostly inspired by architecture, art and the traditional garments of different cultures.”
” The best fashion advice I’ve ever received are 3 things I learned from my father: never leave the house without earrings, no nail polish is better than chipped nail polish, and it’s always better to be over dressed than under dressed.”
Lovely. Totally coveting your metallic bow peep toes!

Hey Guys!
I’m super excited to present my girl Demetria aka A Belle in Brooklyn (www.abelleinbrooklyn.com) as Bombshell of the Day:
She says, “Most days, I ask myself ‘What would Diahann Carroll do if she was influenced by Lauryn Hill circa ’00 and Andre 3000?’ Whatever answer I come up with is what I put on that morning.”
” I’m also into pageantry. I like being slightly over the top with ruffles and frills.”
“My personal fashion motto is, ‘high hair, high heels, high boobs.'”
Super cute! If you don’t know about Demetria’s blog, www.abelleinbrooklyn.com, get to clicking! It’s an award winning relationship blog that will actually be turned into a book in June 2011 (so Sex and the City!).
Demetria is also a relationships editor at Essence magazine. Check out a bit of her work here. Don’t forget to follow her on Twitter @abelleinbk or ask her a relationship question at formspring.me/abelleinbk.

So fashion week has ended and it’s time to look back at a few highlights. From parties to goody bags, of course there were a few standouts!
Take a look at my top five:
1. Best Goody Bag: Betsey Johnson
Blame the recession, but goody bags are rarities these days. Back in 2006, it was customary for everyone to leave the show with a cute bag full of lipgloss and free coupons for laser hair removal. Now you’re lucky if you get show notes! At any rate, I was tickled pink when I saw a hot pink Goody Bag on my seat at the Betsey Johnson show (review to come!). Inside, a fresh pair of Betsey Johnson issue socks, Betsey perfume, and Stila black diamond mascara. It’s the little things, y’all.
2. Best Party: Naomi’s 25th Fashion Anniversary Party at Le Bain
Sure there were tons of parties going on during fashion week, but the one where I met diva extraordinaire Naomi Campbell would have to be my favorite. It wasn’t just that I met the notorious cell phone thrower (who is actually sweet as pie in person), but also about the black star power radiating from the room. I rode up the elevator next to Andre Leon Talley and brushed next to industry greats like Edward Enninful and Pat McGrath. Wow, was all I could say. I was happy to be in the building.
3. Best Interview: Joe Zee
Elle Magazine’s October cover featuring Gabourey Sidibe has come under considerable heat in the blogosphere, and I was happy to be able to ask Joe Zee, Elle’s creative director, about the motivation behind his styling choices. He actually seemed surprised there was an outcry, but was more than gracious in talking about his work. It’s not everyday you get to meet the creative director of one of the top fashion magazines in the nation, and not everyday you’re able to voice your concerns. Let’s hope it won’t be the last!
4. Most Exciting Show: LaQuan Smith
Could you tell how much I loved LaQuan Smith’s show? It was full of fireworks from beginning to end. From the wonderful clothes to the celeb sightings, the show had it all. I can’t wait for the next one!
5. Best Encounter: You Guys
I met so many of you in the tents and nothing makes me happier than to hear your thoughts on the site or to see you guys in the shows right alongside me. The site has come a long way since my first fashion week in 2006. Can’t wait to see what next season brings.
And if you have any comments on how we can improve Fashion Week coverage, leave a comment:) Now off to solve Mail Bombs…
Today we have another two time Bomber, Leslie from LA:
She didn’t include much by way of describing her style, but you can check her first post for details.
Also, make sure you take a look at her blog, Fashion Du Jour Daily (www.fashiondujourdaily.wordpress.com), which documents her daily outfits.

Hey Guys,
So we do have quite a few male readers who have a style all their own.
Today we have Ramaj, a fashionisto from Philly:
He says, “My style cannot be described in one way; I have a ton of influences that I pull from with every look I rock each day.”
“… I love all things retro and am most inspired by the classy era of the gentleman–the collared shirts, ties, vests and all things neat and preppy. But, I am also unafraid to gender-bend and put a male twist on feminine glamour by wearing tighter clothes, flashy accessories and bright colors.”
“… Then, there is the rebellious side of me that loves going against the grain and taking risks. This side loves taking things that look wrong and making them look right. Oversized shirts, ripped jeans and mixing patterns are examples of what this side consists of.”
” All in all, my style is a true expression of my multi-faceted personality. “
Ramaj is a blogger as well. Check him out at www.soundonmars.com.

Hey Guys!
So sometimes our Bombshells are so good, they need two appearances to capture all their fabness!
I present you, two time Bombshell of the Day, Lori from LA:
She says, “I’m a huge fan of mixing vintage into my wardrobe, I love the character of vintage pieces and how they don’t look like anything you’ll find in a retail store. It doesn’t hurt I have a knack for finding pieces at amazing prices!”
“…I’ve recently had this turn into a service where I’ve started shopping for others that don’t have as much luck with finding great vintage and retail finds for less or know how to incorporate them into their wardrobe.”
“…I gravitate towards eye catching prints like leopard and rich colors as well as staple accessories like lion brooches and vintage charm bracelets.”
“…I also often find myself wearing black and neutral colors, but I make sure to mix bold prints and colors here and there to add just the right pop of color when wearing basic and neutrals.”
Isn’t she fab?? You can see more of her style at www.hisherschicago.com.

The fly girls of Ebony Magazine’s new website, www.ebonyjet.com, interviewed little old me for a feature called, “A Day in the Life of a Fashion Blogger”:
A few excerpts:
Q: Any cool highlights from your experience during fashion week this season?
A: The first night there was a party for Naomi Campbell’s 25 years in the biz and Andre Leon Talley was there, Russell Simmons, Pat McGrath; basically anyone in the business who’s fabulous! For Fashion’s Night Out we saw Naomi again at Dolce & Gabbanna along with Chris Brown and Fabolous, so I think things like that are also very interesting.
Q: What trends have you seen in the shows so far? A: Lots of nudes, whites, ivory, lots of asymmetrical dresses, a short hem, not a lot of huge totes, just small clutches, over-sized glasses. I haven’t seen a lot of color – that’s what I’ve been missing because it’s what I like about spring. You can kind of shine in turquoise and yellows and pinks and whites so to me white isn’t very exciting. I haven’t seen very much though so we’ll see.
Q: So what are the top three things that will get you through this week? A: My blackberry, my Mac Book, my camera, lip gloss and flats…that’s like five!
Pretty cool.

I just got done watching Nanette Lepore, now I’m off to see LaQuan Smith’s presentation at the Peninsula.

Blogger and stylista Whitney from Dallas, Texas sent in the following pictures for Bombshell of the Day:
She says, “If I could describe my style I would say it’s a little bit of everything.”
“I wear what I like and I don’t really follow trends too closely. “
“I love skirts and dresses and rarely wear pants (I find them uncomfortable), but if I had to describe my style, I would say it’s kind of vintage with a little bit of funk.”
Super cute! Whitney loves fashion so much she started an image consulting company. Check her out at www.imagemaven.wordpress.com.

Hey Guys!
Today our Bombshell Tiara hails from Tallahassee, Florida:
She says, “My style is crazy, bold with a bit of wackiness and a few dashes of class.”
” I’m a designer of my own clothing line T.Jenks and in most of my pictures I made my own clothing.”
“I love quirky and cooky looks, I love stuff that most people would never pick up and make it beautiful. I have a weakness for anything bright and bold!”
Yes you do! Loving your cute sequined number.
As Tiara mentioned, she has a clothing line called T . Jenks. Check it out here.

Yesterday I had the distinct pleasure of attending a Q & A session with Elle Magazine’s Creative Director Joe Zee in American Express’ Sky Box at Lincoln Center:
After a brief introduction, the moderator opened the floor, so I had to ask about the choice of Gabourey Sidibe as a covergirl for one of Elle’s four 25th anniversary covers. He said, “We chose four girls, Lauren Conrad, Amanda Seyfried, Gabourey, and Megan Fox because they are all about 25 -years-old and have been smart in their careers. With Gabourey specifically, she scored an Oscar nomination this year, a milestone actresses who have been in the industry for years dream of reaching. I thought she was an amazing choice.”
I had to press about the choice of her less-than-flattering wig and also why they chose to feature just her face instead of a full body shot. He said, ‘Well Gabourey came with her own hair, I had nothing to do with the hair,” he explained, “And with the crop of the photo, we thought it best reflected her bubbly personality. When she comes into a room, she’s not Precious. She’s talkative, bright, and a total movie star. I chose the green dress because I wanted her to look like a Hollywood Starlet. And we chose this shot because I felt she carries most of her spirit and personality in her face.”
Sounds like a solid explanation.
