It’s been a minute since we’ve had an international Bombshell, so today I thought I’d bring you Fatoumata from France:
She says, “I can’t really define my style because I am inspired by everything around me, fashion, and my origins.”
” I like saying that I am a little black pin-up.”
“I love mixing trends and I am very feminine.
“I have a fashion blog on which I give ideas, offer fashion news, and post looks (some of my design). Check me out at www.delightfulebonygorgeous.blogspot.com.”
Will do! And er ah…where did you get that ruffle back skirt? Hot!

Today’s Bombshell is the aptly named Lynne from Brooklyn:
She says, “I’m also known as Akua (Native Name). I’m originally from Ghana, West Africa but I currently reside in Brooklyn New York.”
“.. My style is very classy with a bit of edge. I can also add a twist of preppy flavor depending on the occasion.”
“I also love authenticity so I sometimes add a touch of African print to my look to accentuate my style.”
“…I think less is more so simplicity is always key.”
Cute!

“…I would say my style is effortlessly chic. I never want to look like I’m trying too hard.”
“… I am addicted to shopping!! My favorite places to shop are the Salvation Army (you can find really cool pieces there), H&M, and eBay.”
“… I love to look nice, but hate spending a ton of money on clothes and shoes, so I am a definite bargain shopper! Brand names are irrelevant to me.”
“…I am in love with all things fashion, hair (newly natural), and makeup. I have a beauty channel on Youtube www.youtube.com/backsyncfan.”

Today’s Bombshell is the super chic Rashada from Lakeland, Florida:
She says, “I can’t really describe my style.”
“… I just wear what I like….”
“…. I’ve actually worn what I like since I was old enough to mismatch (thanks Mom!)”
” I am a “former” tomboy though, so I’m sure that plays a part in my selections at times. “
” I sent you more than a few pics (old and new), so I’ll let you decide which you feel are worthy of a Fashion Bomb status. ;)”
All your pix are Bombshell worthy! Gorge. What say you, Bombshells?

We’ve gotten some great submissions lately for Fashion Bombshell of the Day!
Could it be because a national retailer* was recently scouting for fresh faces in the Bombshell section? Maybe!
At any rate, today’s Bombshell is fab-u-lous. Her name is Iris and she hails from Philadelphia:
She was submitted by her friend Chelsea, who says, “Iris Barbee Bonner is a well known artist from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.”
“If I had to describe her style it would be artsy, laid back funk :)”
“…She is like the sweetest girl EVER and makes hand painted t-shirts.”
“I know she’d be PERFECT for Fashion Bombshell of the Day.”
Cool, funky, and creative? Definitely a Fashion Bombshell. And I’m gonna need one of those shirts, a painting, (and that dress) ASAP!!
*KMart was looking for diverse men and women with great style for their next print campaign. One of their first stops was the Bombshell of the Day section! Today we have a special treat: Bombshell and Blogger Blake Von D from NYC:
She says, “It’s really hard for me to describe my style. I’m all over the place.”
“… My style is very reflective of my personality. Some moments I’m quite introverted and at other moments I’m the life of the party.”
” One thing is constant though–I almost always have on a piece I DIY’d, thrifted or re-purposed. For example, I cut my hair but I figured why throw out a perfectly good hair scarf? So now I wear it as a bracelet.”
“My motto is “Fashion is expensive, style is not.” (quote from Nina Garcia). That being said…I love the idea of fashion, but I could take or leave the labels; unless we’re talking about Alexander McQueen in which case I’d sell my first born.”
” And since I am an undercover introvert, I love wearing what I call “statement pieces”. Whether it’s a quirky shirt or a pair of fierce shoes, I use fashion to entice people talk to ME so I don’t have to initiate conversation with them. Lol. “
“Even the way I wear my hair is a means of generating conversation. Recently I’m really into head/hair pieces–everything from turbans to fascinators.”

Hey!
So I’m headed back to New York today (woo hoo!), but wanted to give you guys the scoop on a few designers I spied during Style Week Jamaica 2011. The line up for this year’s showcase included familiar names like LaQuan Smith, Sammy B, and Mataano, along with new names like Ashley Martin, Frenchester Christie, Lisa McIntosh, Simone Gordon of T&T Fashions, and Andre Shirley.
Check out a few highlights.
Allan Virgo:
By day, Jamaican born Allan Virgo designs outerwear for Michael Kors. By night, the 26-year-old FIT graduate fashions his own line of beautifully colored maxi dresses, one shoulder frocks, and asymmetrical skirts, characterized by a signature patchwork style melding different patterns and fabrics.
Though some pieces in the collection fell away from the brand’s aesthetic with plastic cut outs placed on A-line skirts, Virgo will certainly triumph by sticking to more feminine elements: crop tops, skirts, and floor grazing yet easy frocks.
HOD:
Gregory Williams of HOD called his adventurous collection, “Ninja Glam.” Models in pin cushion bras (replete with pins) sauntered down the runway in leggings, jumpsuits, and tops with dramatic elements like generous hoods and parachute like pockets.
I could see Nicki Minaj on stage twirling in any of these bold separates. Barbz approved.
Nina:
Nina’s forte is crochet. For the presentation designer Karlene Levy of the brand offered monokinis, bikinis, mini and maxi dresses in alluring knit.
The pieces seemed perfect for a relaxed vacation in a tropical paradise.
Kevin O’Brian:
Paris based Kevin O’Brian brought a bit of couture sensibility to the proceedings with dramatic face masks played up by fall away gowns comprised of lace, light reflecting material, and chiffon.
T & T:
One shoulder dresses shared the runway with alluring maxi frocks for Simone Gordon of T&T‘s segment. Out of all the designers who presented that night, these were definitely the closest to red carpet worthy.
And of course we can’t forget our very own New York designers. Mataano presented a 70’s themed safari replete with rompers, paisley pieces, and straw hats:
And LaQuan Smith lit up the venue and closed the show with his electrically sweet ‘Hard Candy’ collection:
Which designer was your favorite?

Hey Hey!
Today’s Bombshell is the fabulous Yvonne from DC:
The blogger for My Lifestyle Mude says, ” I’m originally from Kenya, and on my last trip there I bought back tons and tons of jewelry, fabric, and sandals!”
” I love statement necklaces and jewelry.”
“… I can describe my style as feminine, sexy, and classy!”
“…I never try to over do it with tons of different pieces, I like to keep it simple and cute!”
“I am all about bold color.”
Super cute! And am going to check out your blog now. If you want to, too, it’s called www.mylifestylemude.com.
