Claire’s Life: Fashion’s Night Out 2011

So after coming home from the tents and blogging a bit, I didn’t have much time to change, so switched out my vintage blazer for a Diesel jean jacket, traded my YSL Tribtoo Platform Pumps for a pair of Gianvito Rossi for Altuzarra wedge heels, piled on some jewelry, and hit the town:

I was too late for my scheduled interview with Rachel Roy, but did have a great time snapping Real Style and talking to Fashion’s Night out enthusiasts at Macy’s:

(I must admit, I did a little shopping)

I then headed to Missoni, where a big Missoni clad doll was stationed outside on her Iphone (I kid you not).

Turns out her name is Marina, and she has her own Twitter account, www.twitter.com/marinawithstyle. Follow her if you like, it’s kind of funny.

After getting the scoop on Marina, I said hi to legendary model Pat Cleveland (isn’t she gorgeous?)

And of course couldn’t leave without saying hello to Margherita Missoni herself…

She was super sweet!
After a quick drink….

I hailed a cab downtown and popped into Alexander Wang and Surface to Air.

And then, my friends, I called it a night.
I have three shows today. Stay tuned for more Claire’s Life.

Style Diary: Mercedes Benz Spring 2012 Fashion Week Day 1

Happy Fashion Week!

Today I had a handful of shows on my plate, including BCBG Max Azria:

For the big day I decided to go with my tried and true formula of sass + class in a BCBG Max Azria black long sleeve dress, vintage white jacket, and YSL Tribtoo Platform Pumps:

I threw my Ipad, wallet, and lip gloss into a large snakeskin purse by Cashhimi (www.cashhimi.com) and shielded the rays with Super sunglasses from Blake Scotland (www.blakescotland.com; 62 Clinton Street):

I added a fun necklace from H&M and an Iso ring by AG (copped it on Etsy here).

After twirling for the cameras I dealt with the very real problem of the site being down. Sigh. I did my best to resolve the issue on my Ipad and Iphone.

Don’t I look frustrated? Haha, at any rate, it all worked out in the end. The site is back up to speed. All’s well that ends well.

That does it! What do you think of my Style Diary for Day 1 of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week?

Fashion Bombshell of the Day : AJ from London

Hey Hey!
Excuse the egregiously late Bombshell. As many of you were aware, the site was down for most of the day….and I’ve been out at Fashion Week. But don’t fret, I think AJ from London was worth the wait:

She says, “My sense of style is classy meets glamour…”

“…with a slight edge.”

“I live in African print clothing.”

“For more on me, check out my blog, www.myafricancloset.wordpress.com.”
I love, love, love, all your colors and how your switch it up! Absolutely lovely. What did you think?

Claire’s Life: The Independent Fashion Blogger’s Conference

Happy First Day of Fashion Week!
Yesterday I had the sincere pleasure of participating on a panel for the Independent Fashion Bloggers Conference:

I, along with Mickey Boardman of Paper Magazine, Mary HK Choi of MTV Style, Ari Seth Cohen of Advanced Style, Joyce Chang of People Style Watch, and Christian Remrod of Fashion Networks waxed on about the evolving face of online media, our favorite promotional tools, and how we ‘humanize’ our respective brands.

A few takeaways (for me) : as a blogger it’s important to interface with readers. Get out from behind the computer, interact, share instances of your life, and talk to people. To whit, I met so many Fashion Bomb readers and former Fashion Bombshells in the audience, and had a blast chatting with them in person:

With Bombshell Taye from LA

Chopping it up with fab Ashley from New York

Kicking it with Fashion Bomb Beauty correspondent and blogger Danielle of The Style and Beauty Doctor

With Miss G Chic from Philly

I also had a lovely time hearing the stories of and meeting my fellow panelists:

Mickey Boardman of Paper Magazine

Ann Colville Soma of holierthannow.com

Me blabbing to Ari Seth Cohen of Advanced Style

It was simply a delight to be included and to share a bit of my journey with the 300 fellow bloggers and blog enthusiasts in the room:
If you were there or watched it on livestream, I hope you enjoyed. In case you missed it, I’m sure IFB will have a copy of the event on their website, www.heartifb.com.

For the occasion, I chose to pull on a vintage houndstooth Azzedine Alaia dress (fun fact, Rihanna wore a two piece version of the same dress back in 2009 to the Z100 Jingle Ball. I really didn’t realize Rih and I were vintage Alaia houndstooth twins until I googled ‘Rihanna and Houndstooth’ later that night. I’m dressing like Rihanna without even meaning to!). At any rate, I accessorized with a pair of Miu Miu oxfords, Lia Sophia silver earrings, and my bling bangles by Jessie Adore:

The weather is kind of a joke, so I threw on a vintage trench to combat the rains and blustery winds:

I’m off to the tents for my first show of fashion week, Nicholas K. I recently bought an Ipad (but don’t know how to use it yet–ha), so will do my best to update with all the news and insights from the tents throughout the day.

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Diamond from Atlanta

Happy Tuesday!
Today’s Bombshell is the fab Diamond from ATL:

She says, “I’m currently a Freshman at Albany State University.”

” I enjoy styling people & helping them express themselves with different looks.”

“I enjoy giving people wings to be fly if they cant find their own.”

“My most recent Fashion addictions are nerd glasses, Christian Louboutins, Jeffrey Campbell Lita booties, and vintage high waist jeans.”

” I also love expensive bags. My latest baby is my hot red Birkin!”

“… I don’t join Fashion I am Fashion!!! You don’t have to love my style cause I do.”

You certainly have your own unique look. And very bling for a college freshman! Work!

Fashion Bomber of the Day: Troy from Atlanta

I decided to finish this week up with Fashion Bomber Troy from ATL:

He says, “I’m an 18-year-old fashion fanatic and aspiring fashion buyer.”

” Growing up my father taught me about style and how it meant more than just a look, it was an attitude.”

“… I would describe my style as versatile but risky.”

” As a gay male in Atlanta I’m surrounded by the flamboyant styles of other gay men in the city…”

“… so I try to maintain a masculine look with a little edge.”

” My philosophy is to not limit yourself to one side of the store male or female.”

Alright! Follow Troy on Tumblr at www.fashionspharaoh.tumblr.com. Do you like his looks?

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Dami from London

You guys loved our UK diva from yesterday, so I figured I’d keep the party going with Dami from London:

She says, “I would say my style is very laid back and versatile.”

“…I can be quirky and glam at times…”

“Depending on my mood.”

“Overall I keep it casual and chic!”

I adore everything, especially your oversized clutches. Cute!

She says, “My style is best described as a mixture of vintage…”

“…and DIY.”

“My blog is www.itsnotvintage.blogspot.com.”

“I love fashion, shoes, and cupcakes…!”

OK. I see you UK girls shutting it down! I love it all. Really.

Do you?

Style Diary: Corporate Chic

I had a few meetings before attending the Jeffrey Fashion Cares show, so opted for corporate chic in an ivory Elizabeth & James Explorer Military shirt and zip addled pencil skirt by Adam:

I love my bling, so piled on gold accents like a Goddess Bib Necklace from ShopKlassiq.com, a La Mer Ivory Frost Wrap Watch from DJPremium.com, Dolce & Gabbana aviators (my fave) and bangles by (who else?) Jessie Adore:

Cream and beige are pretty plain, so I uplifted the look with saucy bordeaux platform sandals by Rachel Zoe:

No outfit would be complete (for me) without gold lightning Minx and my White Iphone:

Gotta tweet, tweet, tweet.

So there you have it. My interpretation of corporate class, with a dash of Atlanta sass.

What do you think?

*Fun fact: I scored my blouse and skirt at TJ Maxx!
