Fashion Bomber of the Day: Earry from Chicago

Today I decided it was time for a Fashion Bomber! I felt 26-year-old Earry from Chicago was a great pick:

He says, “In all honesty, I believe that one’s style should tell a story or evoke a mood or energy.”

” This is my goal when I choose pieces to wear.”

“… I would like the people I encounter to see my visual voice…”

“prior to an intellectual exchange.”

Very eloquent. Your style matches your words beautifully. See more of Earry at www.EarryHall.com and www.Columbian-Jungle.com.
What do you think?

Style Diary: Mercedes Benz Spring 2012 Fashion Week Day 4

Yesterday my day started with Rebecca Minkoff, then took me offsite to the beautiful Reem Acra show on 5th Avenue.

In between shows, I played around on my Ipad and caught lunch at Columbus circle.

Y’all know I like my bling, right? I pulled on my favorite Melody Ehsani I’m Fly Ring, a vintage gold necklace, Melody Ehsani earrings, and Super sunnies from Blake Scotland.
It was a hot day, so I slipped on a Dip Dye Tunic By Evil Twin:

It has a cool asymmetrical hem that I. just.love. For the show itself, I covered my shoulders with the same RVCA blazer from yesterday, along opted for my comfy Coraline Messeca wedges and compact Mata Hari purse (I flipped it around to reveal its colorful side to add a pop):

After packing my Ipad in its American Apparel leather pouch, it was on to the next show:

Style Diary: Mercedes Benz Spring 2012 Fashion Week Day 3

There’s nothing I love more than a pencil skirt and a blazer, so I threw on an RVCA Cult Logic Jacket in Black and a colorblocked Kylie skirt by Motel to attend my roster of shows yesterday, which included Lela Rose, Tracy Reese, and Y-3.

Walking is not a game in these mean streets, so wedges were my heels of choice. I pulled on a pair of chic Coraline shoes by Messeca and they were actually quite comfy.

I placed my Iphone, keys, and wallet into a compact geometric shaped Mara Hari handbag

Threw on my K20 by Karen Ko silver spiked necklace and Melody Ehsani four finger ring….

And was good to go!

Before I left, I ran into intern Jihan who has been doing a fabulous job covering fashion week for the Bomb (hasn’t she?).

I told her to work it for the camera, and work she did:

She is hilarious.
At any rate, there you have it, my look for Day 3 of Fashion Week.

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Maria from California

Happy Monday!
Though I’m sure you’re loving all the fashion week coverage, we can’t neglect our fave feature, Bombshell of the Day. Kicking of this week is Maria from Orange County, California:

She says, “ I am an aspiring fashion designer…”

“…and I attend Cal State Long Beach.”

“… I love fashion because I like to be able to express myself in the way I dress.”

” I tend to lean towards classic pieces…”

“…yet I like to implement a modern take and try to make it my own. “

Style Diary: Mercedes Benz Spring 2012 Fashion Week Day 2

So Fashion Week is in full swing!

So far I’ve been to lots of fun shows like Charlotte Ronson, Monique Lhuillier, Nicole Miller, and more. I’m covering the collections for Vogue.it and Essence.com, which means lots of writing, exhaustion, etc (ha). For day 2, I opted for ease in a knit Camilla Woodstock dress worn over an American Apparel crop top and BCBG black skirt:

With all the walking I do, I had to pull on a pair of comfortable wedges like this pair by Walter Steiger:

With my new Ipad, I surprisingly don’t have to carry much in terms of notebook, camera, and pens, so I managed to stuff the essentials into this snakeskin clutch by Cashhimi:

And added a simple pair of Roberta Chiarella earrings:

And there you have it!

What do you think?
Smootches!
Deets: Knit Dress, Camilla Woodstock. Crop Top, American Apparel. Black Skirt, BCBG. Shoes, Walter Steiger. Clutch, Cashhimi. Ipad Case, Diane von Furstenberg. Earrings, Roberta Chiarella.

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Jessica from Houston

Closing out this week is the lovely Jessica from Houston, Texas:

She says, “I am a 25-year-old professional and I describe my style as “classy sassy chic.””

“… I LOVE accessories and statement necklaces give me life!”

” I shop in a variety of stores, so if it looks fab, I’m buying! Doesn’t matter where it comes from.”

” I try not to ever pay full price for anything, therefore outlet malls, discount boutiques, and luxury discount retailers are my best friends.”

” I love to save money while still looking like a million bucks. :)”

Jessica also has a blog called www.thedivaesq.wordpress.com. Would you log on based on these pix? What do you think of her style?

Claire’s Life: Fashion’s Night Out 2011

So after coming home from the tents and blogging a bit, I didn’t have much time to change, so switched out my vintage blazer for a Diesel jean jacket, traded my YSL Tribtoo Platform Pumps for a pair of Gianvito Rossi for Altuzarra wedge heels, piled on some jewelry, and hit the town:

I was too late for my scheduled interview with Rachel Roy, but did have a great time snapping Real Style and talking to Fashion’s Night out enthusiasts at Macy’s:

(I must admit, I did a little shopping)

I then headed to Missoni, where a big Missoni clad doll was stationed outside on her Iphone (I kid you not).

Turns out her name is Marina, and she has her own Twitter account, www.twitter.com/marinawithstyle. Follow her if you like, it’s kind of funny.

After getting the scoop on Marina, I said hi to legendary model Pat Cleveland (isn’t she gorgeous?)

And of course couldn’t leave without saying hello to Margherita Missoni herself…

She was super sweet!
After a quick drink….

I hailed a cab downtown and popped into Alexander Wang and Surface to Air.

And then, my friends, I called it a night.
I have three shows today. Stay tuned for more Claire’s Life.

Style Diary: Mercedes Benz Spring 2012 Fashion Week Day 1

Happy Fashion Week!

Today I had a handful of shows on my plate, including BCBG Max Azria:

For the big day I decided to go with my tried and true formula of sass + class in a BCBG Max Azria black long sleeve dress, vintage white jacket, and YSL Tribtoo Platform Pumps:

I threw my Ipad, wallet, and lip gloss into a large snakeskin purse by Cashhimi (www.cashhimi.com) and shielded the rays with Super sunglasses from Blake Scotland (www.blakescotland.com; 62 Clinton Street):

I added a fun necklace from H&M and an Iso ring by AG (copped it on Etsy here).

After twirling for the cameras I dealt with the very real problem of the site being down. Sigh. I did my best to resolve the issue on my Ipad and Iphone.

Don’t I look frustrated? Haha, at any rate, it all worked out in the end. The site is back up to speed. All’s well that ends well.

That does it! What do you think of my Style Diary for Day 1 of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week?

Fashion Bombshell of the Day : AJ from London

Hey Hey!
Excuse the egregiously late Bombshell. As many of you were aware, the site was down for most of the day….and I’ve been out at Fashion Week. But don’t fret, I think AJ from London was worth the wait:

She says, “My sense of style is classy meets glamour…”

“…with a slight edge.”

“I live in African print clothing.”

“For more on me, check out my blog, www.myafricancloset.wordpress.com.”
I love, love, love, all your colors and how your switch it up! Absolutely lovely. What did you think?

Claire’s Life: The Independent Fashion Blogger’s Conference

Happy First Day of Fashion Week!
Yesterday I had the sincere pleasure of participating on a panel for the Independent Fashion Bloggers Conference:

I, along with Mickey Boardman of Paper Magazine, Mary HK Choi of MTV Style, Ari Seth Cohen of Advanced Style, Joyce Chang of People Style Watch, and Christian Remrod of Fashion Networks waxed on about the evolving face of online media, our favorite promotional tools, and how we ‘humanize’ our respective brands.

A few takeaways (for me) : as a blogger it’s important to interface with readers. Get out from behind the computer, interact, share instances of your life, and talk to people. To whit, I met so many Fashion Bomb readers and former Fashion Bombshells in the audience, and had a blast chatting with them in person:

With Bombshell Taye from LA

Chopping it up with fab Ashley from New York

Kicking it with Fashion Bomb Beauty correspondent and blogger Danielle of The Style and Beauty Doctor

With Miss G Chic from Philly

I also had a lovely time hearing the stories of and meeting my fellow panelists:

Mickey Boardman of Paper Magazine

Ann Colville Soma of holierthannow.com

Me blabbing to Ari Seth Cohen of Advanced Style

It was simply a delight to be included and to share a bit of my journey with the 300 fellow bloggers and blog enthusiasts in the room:
If you were there or watched it on livestream, I hope you enjoyed. In case you missed it, I’m sure IFB will have a copy of the event on their website, www.heartifb.com.

For the occasion, I chose to pull on a vintage houndstooth Azzedine Alaia dress (fun fact, Rihanna wore a two piece version of the same dress back in 2009 to the Z100 Jingle Ball. I really didn’t realize Rih and I were vintage Alaia houndstooth twins until I googled ‘Rihanna and Houndstooth’ later that night. I’m dressing like Rihanna without even meaning to!). At any rate, I accessorized with a pair of Miu Miu oxfords, Lia Sophia silver earrings, and my bling bangles by Jessie Adore:

The weather is kind of a joke, so I threw on a vintage trench to combat the rains and blustery winds:

I’m off to the tents for my first show of fashion week, Nicholas K. I recently bought an Ipad (but don’t know how to use it yet–ha), so will do my best to update with all the news and insights from the tents throughout the day.

Smootches!
