Fashion Bomb TV: Interview with Melanie Fiona

Last week I had the sincere pleasure of meeting the lovely Melanie Fiona before Black Girls Rock! to find out about a few of her fashion and beauty must haves:

When it comes to designers, she said, [I] love, love, love, the lines of …Alexander McQueen. Nothing fits like a basic black dress by McQueen. I love other designers like Isabel Marant and Mara Hoffman. I love the colors and the lines of Gucci. I think Gucci is a good, classic high end brand that just gets it right.”

A few beauty secrets? For her skin, she says, “I’ve been using Clinique. It helps wash my makeup off, and it’s reasonably priced.” And what about that gorgeous hair?!? She divulged, “Recently I’ve been using Ojon. It’s really good and made of natural nut extract, so it’s really nourishing for the hair. I also love Kerastase. The mask is the absolute best mask I’ve ever used!”
See the full interview here:

Melanie was super sweet and fun! We posed for a couple ‘gangsta’ shots at the end:

I clearly had no idea how to do a good gangsta pose. I tried though. Ha.

At any rate, I hope to keep bringing you more Fashion Bomb TV!

She says, “I’m studying to be a doctor, so a lot of my time is spent in class and in the hospital.”

“… When I’m in class I can wear styles that are a little bit more fun and casual – my go-to is skinny jeans or leggings and a comfy top.”

” Now that the weather is getting cooler my favorite accessory is a simple scarf. “

“When I see patients at the hospital or have meetings, my professional style is casual chic – I love a good pair of trousers and a great top.”

” I’m almost always wearing neutrals (it’s an addiction), but every now and then I will try to have fun with color!”

“Check out my blog at www.alittlebitoflacquer.blogspot.com.”

Claire’s Life: “Get Pretty” with Polish Bar of Brooklyn

Happy Friday Bombshells!
Last night I had the pleasure of hosting a “Get Pretty” event at my absolute favorite nail salon, Polish Bar of Brooklyn:

Polish Bar owner Tricia Lee, Publicist and Blogger Renae Bluitt, and I welcomed bloggers and Bombshells to enjoy the salon’s Five Point Beauty Focus of brow shaping, makeup services, lash application, trend manicures, and massages. Breast Cancer Awareness minx were also offered with donations benefiting the American Cancer Society.

We sipped strawberry champagne, ate delicious candy colored cupcakes from GoodieBox Bakeshop, and had a smashing time (didn’t we?).

For the festivities, I slipped on a Rachel Rachel Roy Marquesa Dress (yes, the same one Sanaa Lathan wore yesterday).

While Sanaa accessorized with peep toes, I pulled out my only souvenir from Paris: my new blue Miu Miu glitter pumps:

Yes, I have a slight Miu Miu shoe addiction. They’re cute and surprisingly comfy!

At any rate, I had a fantastic time meeting so many of you and hope to have more events in the future.

Stay tuned for monthly F Bomb events!
