” with a little edge:-)”

“I have a blog called www.foodfashionandflow.blogspot.com..”

“It combines life inspiration with fashion, food, and poetry.”

“I love fashion and being stylish even in the kitchen…LOL.”

“I think everyone needs to be lifted and inspired…”

“… and I just wanted to share how I use my blog to do that:-)”

Super sophisticated! Love that multicolored dress with the yellow pumps!

Will have to check out your blog.

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Karen from London

Hey Hey!
I’m super excited to feature my friend and fellow blogger, Karen from London, as our Bombshell of the Day:

The New York resident and beauty behind the blog www.wheredidugetthat.com says, “My style is like a chameleon.”

“One day I’m a rock chick.”

“Another I’ll be boho or mod.”

“It’s really about the fun…”

“… of mixing different looks…”

” I always try and add some edge to everything.”

I’m unabashedly biased, but I love Karen’s style! She truly pushes outside of the box while managing to look glamorous at every shutter snap. See more of her style at www.wheredidugetthat.com.
What do u think?

Claire’s Life: My Alter Ego Photo Shoot with Derek Blanks For Covergirl and Essence Magazine

Happy Monday, Bombshells!
Last week I was juiced to participate in a fun ‘alter ego’ shoot photographed by Derek Blanks for a Covergirl ad slated to appear in Essence Magazine:

Essence and Covergirl handpicked two bloggers, myself and Karen Blanchard of Where did U Get That, to pose as two versions of ourselves, all the while showing off Covergirl’s new Flipstick lipstick.

The product has two different colors, so you can mix and match for varying intensity, take your look from day to night, and adjust the color to speak to different sides of your personality. My alter egos were a dorky blogger and a fashionista, so stylists Rodney Hall and Meeka Johnson, makeup artist Saisha Beecham, hairstylist Clark Vincente, and manicurist Deana Blackwell collaborated to create my nerdy shot:

And my fashionista look:

It was a long but fun day, and I can’t wait to see the final product!

The ad is scheduled to appear in Essence’s April issue. I’ll be sure to do a follow up post when Covergirl flipstick is available and when the ad goes live.

Many thanks to the team at Essence and Covergirl, and to Derek, Saisha, Clark, Rodney, Meeka, and Deana.

Also, shout out to Jihan, my homegirl Karen of Where Did U Get That, and Michael Marrs of www.michaelmarrs.com for these fantastic behind the scenes shots. If you don’t know about Karen, hop to it. Matter of fact, she’d be a great Bombshell of the Day…!

Stay tuned.

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Yolanda from Maryland

So we’ll be asking for nominations on who you think should be Bombshell of the Year on December 15th.

Should the lovely Yolanda from Maryland be in the running?

She says,“Fashion is art to me…it’s so much fun and there are so many ways to express your sense of style.”

“… I would describe my style as classy vintage with a hint of sexiness!”

“… I’m a mother of two little princesses so my budget is very slim (lol) which shifted me to the world of thrifting! I love thrift store shopping and that’s where I find a lot of vintage items.”

“… On a typical day I’m rocking a blazer, simple top, boyfriend or skinny jeans and some killer heels and accessories!”

“.. That’s a simple equation to style perfection! Fashion is fun on a budget so I can only imagine how much fun it is when you are balling!”

Alright! Yolanda also blogs for NecoleBitchie.com and for www.etcblogmag.com. Be sure to check her on out.

This Week in Chic: Melanie Fiona, Rachel Roy, Amber Riley, and More!

The stars continued to shine this week with multicolored frocks, vibrant hues, and reinvented hairstyles.

From Miami to Manhattan, our favorite Fashion Bomb celebs brought the fire!

There’s a lot to love, isn’t there? I absolutely love the orange long sleeved dress Amber Riley wore to the Trevor Live! benefit in LA, as well as the orange collarless Michael Kors gown Paula Patton rocked to the India Premiere of Mission Impossible. Melanie Fiona’s short hairstyle was flawless in Miami, and Zoe Saldana shined in a geometric mod frock. In the end, however, my vote would either go to the strapless frothy navy gown first Lady Michelle Obama wore to the Kennedy Center Honors or the striped number Rachel Roy slipped on for the Cinema Society & Piaget Screening Of “W.E.” Much improved, Rache!
Which look is your fave?

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Tanisha from Florida

So it seems some of you may have been bored by this week’s Bombshells–hopefully Tanisha from Florida can energize your chic senses:

She says, “My personal style is: if I like it, I wear it, trend or vintage.”

” I like to have a relaxed, not too fussy vibe about my style.”

” My weaknesses are sequins and leopard.”

” I learned that every single day is a chance to re-invent yourself.”

“So have fun!”

Ah, Tanisha, I have a leopard weakness as well. Some looks are a bit overaccesorized, but overall you have a distinctive style that’s far from boring.

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Stacy from New York

Today we bring you corporate Bombshell Stacy from New York:

She says, “My style is conservative…”

“But Chic..”

“… with sprinkles of COLOR from a spring palette that highlights my skin tone.”

” While I still hang on to my LBD’s…”

” I’ve learned to not be afraid of color!”

Alright! Conservative chic is a great description of your look. The mustard sweater and maroon jeans are the business! Cute!

We’re continuing our end of the year Bombshells with Rene from ATL:

She says, “I’m an avid reader of your blog and I feel like being featured as the Fashion Bombshell of the Day would be an amazing opportunity! It would probably make my whole week lol! “

“My style is very classic and chic.”

” It’s also mood-based.”

” Sometimes, I feel extra feminine, and I let my attire reflect that with a dress or skirt, and sometimes I feel really edgy and I’ll add a leather jacket and some attention-grabbing booties to spice up my look.”

” I love to take trends and add my classic spin on them.”

“I have a fashion blog over at casualcocainecouture.blogspot.com! :)”

“Thanks in advance for even providing the opportunity for me to be considered!”

Claire’s Life: HelloBeautiful.com’s Women in the Workplace Workshop

Happy Monday, Bombshells!
This past Saturday I participated on a panel on entrepreneurship sponsored by HelloBeautiful.com.

The day long workshop featured talks on negotiating, networking, dressing in a corporate environment, and also how to strike out on your own and create your own business. Since the day underscored the power of women in the workplace, I decided to pull on what I deem a ‘strong woman’ uniform: a Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress.

Lord knows I love an animal print (I’m positively addicted), so chose a vintage inspired piece with a leopard motif. Since the dress was somewhat subdued in black, gray, and, white, I added pops of color with a pair of Steve Madden purple Staciee slingbacks, YSL lipstick in Pourpre Divin (obsessed), and a fun little neon Push Lock Across Body Bag from ASOS.

Of course it was chilly, so I wore my standby Andrew Marc coat, a Topshop beret, and Berkshire ultra sheer stockings in Tan de Sol (can you tell I’m wearing hose?!? I know! Berkshire hose are the bomb):

The panel itself included media maven Bevy Smith, boutique owner Blake Scotland, PR guru Simone Smalls, casting director Winsome Sinclair, and Ginger Johnson and Liz Pickett of the nail brand Ginger & Liz.

Bevy Smith, Me, Blake Scotland, Simone Smalls

I obviously wasn’t taking notes, but here are a few takeaway points I can remember. From Ginger & Liz: “No” means “not right now.” Don’t be discouraged when people don’t give you what you want immediately. Revise your pitch, and try again. From Bevy Smith: It’s never too late to embark on a new career. Bevy left a lucrative job at age 38 to start her Dinners with Bevy entreprise. From Blake Scotland: When starting out, invest in the highest quality you can afford. It’s ok to cut corners sometimes, but if you need the best, invest.

From Simone Smalls: Fake it until you make it, but back up your word with good work and outstanding results. When Simone first started she was competing with huge firms, and sometimes had to fake having an account billing department, human resources department, and more in phone conversations to give off the appearance her company was much larger than it was. Even though she had to fake it a little, she still produced big company results. From Winsome Sinclair: Protect your brand. At every step, ask yourself, “Is this good for the brand?” If it’s not, don’t do it! From me: Freelance, intern, or work a part time job to sustain yourself until you get to where you want to go. Before the Fashion Bomb was its own entity, I freelanced for various print and online publications, taught English, did translations, and more to make ends meet.
It was a long, but enlightening day, and I learned a lot.

For those of you who came, hope you enjoyed!

We’ll be having many more events. Stay tuned to the blog for the 411.

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Finichia from Utah

Hey!
We’re ending this week with the fab Finichia from Salt Lake City, Utah:

She says, “I am representing for the curvy girl population and love vintage and timeless pieces.”

“… I would describe my style as a classic look, combined with vintage timeless, funky pieces.”

” I am really big on accessories and think they are fundamental in taking your look to the next level. “

“I really love bold colors and prints and wear clothes that compliment my body type. “

“I recently started my own personal style blog about 3 weeks ago called fancycurves.com. Please check it out!”

Love your outfit with the asymmetrical dress and heelless shoes. Very cute!
