Claire’s Life: My Talk at FIT with B.R.A.G (The Black Retail Action Group)

I believe the children are the future, so was super excited when Leia Mandeville of FIT’s Black Retail Action Group invited me to speak to undergrads about my fashionable experiences:

It was great fun to take a look back at my career, and also offer nuggets of knowledge to the next generation of industry insiders.

I’ve been alllll about spring, even though the weather here in New York demands otherwise. At any rate, I slipped on a full Topshop look, including a knit metallic flecked peach sweater and a matching Premium Silk Shimmer pleated dip hem skirt:

I’m really feeling the pastel trend!
I completed the look with my new Stuart Weitzman Capsize Mary Jane Pumps in Blush Pink, and picked up on the shoe’s silver accents with vintage white sunglasses and silver leather hoops by Seville Michelle Anastos (who we wrote about here).

I threw my ipad, iphone, and other particulars in my summer Stella McCartney Falabella Tote (it’s a little busted by now).

And voilà!
Afterwards, I popped by La Bottega to nosh, blog a bit, and comb through lots of wonderful comments:

And there you have it.

What do you think?

*Many thanks, again, to the students at FIT for inviting me.

You’re the bomb!

Claire’s Life: The Fashion Bomb’s Chic Spring Trends Shopping Event at Michelle New York

TGIF!!
Last night I had the sincere pleasure of hosting a Spring Trends Shopping Party at Brooklyn boutique, Michelle New York.

Guests sipped cocktails provided by Brooklyn Republic Vodka while perusing the shop’s spring ready pieces:

Michelle had tons on tap to usher in warm weather, including on trend neon bangles, flourishes of color, and classic accents like gold cuffs and bracelets:

During the event, I scurried around offering suggestions on how readers (and Jihan) could put a bit of spring into their wardrobes.

For example, with Emilia, I added a bit of sizzle to her blue dress with a neon belt cinched around the waist:

Voila!

It was super fun, as always, to meet readers, and do what I love to do (shop) at one of my favorite boutiques!

As for my outfit, I was dipped in all Michelle New York design, including a one shoulder tangerine dress and sparkling jewels:

I decided to color block a bit with a pair of patent YSL Tribute Patent Sandals in the season’s hottest color: mint.

What do you think?

Special thanks to Charlene and Michelle of Michelle New York, Brooklyn Republic Vodka for providing drinks, as well as Miss Jessie’s and Essence for supplying goodies for our goody bags!

If you couldn’t make it, we missed you! But be sure to pop by Michelle New York (376 Atlantic Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11217) if you ever find yourself in Brooklyn. In addition to having oodles of chic pieces, the accessories are bananas! And if you see something you like and live out of state, give them a call at (718) 643-1680 to inquire about prices and shipping.
Stay tuned for more fun Fashion Bomb events.

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Ellie from San Diego

We’re keeping it Cali-fab with today’s Bombshell, Ellie from San Diego:

She writes, “My style is effortless, fun, young and chic.”

I feel that the best outfits are the ones you just throw on and go.

“… Anyone can buy fashion, but you can’t buy style.”

” That’s what makes a person’s style so unique, it’s about personality.”

” My style is the one thing in my life I have full control over; I can’t control my past or my future but I can control my wardrobe.”

” Check out my blog: www.fashionwithellie.blogspot.com.”

Cute shoe and purse game, lady! I love your style, and how you paired a snazzy dress with sneaks. Thumbs up!

Claire’s Life: Stuart Weitzman’s Spring 2012 Collection Party with The Man Repeller and Solange Knowles

Yesterday I was invited by the lovely folks over at Stuart Weitzman to a spring shopping event hosted by blogger Man Repeller and dj’ed by Solange Knowles. I’m a fan of Stuart Weitzman shoes (my Snakeskin Platswoon pumps are a fave) and always love a chance to hang with fellow bloggers and Fashion Bomb friends, so headed uptown with Jihan to take a look at the brand’s latest offerings:

A quickly found a few lustworthy shoe styles, including these metallic tipped ‘Capsize’ heels (worn by both the Man Repeller aka Leandra Medine and Solo herself in pink and green respectively)…

Solange Knowles, Stuart Weitzman, Man Repeller

…along with a plethora of brightly colored wedges, glittery peep toes, and flat sandals.

Cute, right?

After ogling the shoes, I of course said wassup to Solange…

And also met Man Repeller for the first time.

She remembered me from a few tweets during Fashion Week (we were both running late to the Michael Kors show–I think we both missed it, too). Ah, Fashion Week memories.
At any rate, it was a chill night, so I slipped on my ‘editor’s’ uniform of a blazer and pencil skirt:

Y’all know I love me some Helmut Lang, so splurged on the brand’s ‘Era’ blazer (Cassie wore it here; I also included it in this Style Inspiration. Yes, I end up buying stuff I blog about all the time).

I balanced it all out with a pencil skirt from Club Monaco, along with my favorite Gianvito Rossi for Altuzarra wedges.

I kept the black/white theme going with a Barbie/Chanel t-shirt I scored at Kiliwatch in Paris, then added pop with Ruby Woo lipstick. I actually meant to grab my black bag, but was in a rush, so threw everything in my ‘summer’ tote: a Stella McCartney Falabella with silver hardware.

The tote is brown, but to me it looks a little gray. Yeah, it doesn’t really ‘match’, but I figured I could rock with it.

And there you have it.

If you’re intrigued by any of the Weitzman shoes above, check ’em out at www.stuartweitzman.com. Those capsize pumps are officially on my wish list….

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Cheryl from California

Today’s Bombshell is California cutie Cheryl:

She says, “For me, it’s all about wearing clothes instead of allowing them to wear you.”

” I find that I can’t pin down my style to one specific look or trend because I wear whatever makes me feel happy.”

” My main motto when it comes to fashion: If it looks good on me, then I can make it work.”

” And if it doesn’t look good on me, then it’s not my style.”

I blog over at Oh to Be a Muse (www.ohtobeamuse.com).”

“… I hope that my style inspires…”

“…and that I get inspired by the style of others.”

Oh, to be a muse, indeed! I love most of your looks, especially that hi-lo skirt. It’s been a great week for Bombshells, no?
What say you?
