Fashion Bomb TV: Interview with Melanie Fiona

Last week I had the sincere pleasure of meeting the lovely Melanie Fiona before Black Girls Rock! to find out about a few of her fashion and beauty must haves:

When it comes to designers, she said, [I] love, love, love, the lines of …Alexander McQueen. Nothing fits like a basic black dress by McQueen. I love other designers like Isabel Marant and Mara Hoffman. I love the colors and the lines of Gucci. I think Gucci is a good, classic high end brand that just gets it right.”

A few beauty secrets? For her skin, she says, “I’ve been using Clinique. It helps wash my makeup off, and it’s reasonably priced.” And what about that gorgeous hair?!? She divulged, “Recently I’ve been using Ojon. It’s really good and made of natural nut extract, so it’s really nourishing for the hair. I also love Kerastase. The mask is the absolute best mask I’ve ever used!”
See the full interview here:

Melanie was super sweet and fun! We posed for a couple ‘gangsta’ shots at the end:

I clearly had no idea how to do a good gangsta pose. I tried though. Ha.

At any rate, I hope to keep bringing you more Fashion Bomb TV!

How’d I do?

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Laura from Boston

Today’s Bombshell is Harvard medical school student Laura from Boston:

She says, “I’m studying to be a doctor, so a lot of my time is spent in class and in the hospital.”

“… When I’m in class I can wear styles that are a little bit more fun and casual – my go-to is skinny jeans or leggings and a comfy top.”

” Now that the weather is getting cooler my favorite accessory is a simple scarf. “

“When I see patients at the hospital or have meetings, my professional style is casual chic – I love a good pair of trousers and a great top.”

” I’m almost always wearing neutrals (it’s an addiction), but every now and then I will try to have fun with color!”

“Check out my blog at www.alittlebitoflacquer.blogspot.com.”

Will do! Smart and stylish, what a great combo:)

Claire’s Life: “Get Pretty” with Polish Bar of Brooklyn

Happy Friday Bombshells!
Last night I had the pleasure of hosting a “Get Pretty” event at my absolute favorite nail salon, Polish Bar of Brooklyn:

Polish Bar owner Tricia Lee, Publicist and Blogger Renae Bluitt, and I welcomed bloggers and Bombshells to enjoy the salon’s Five Point Beauty Focus of brow shaping, makeup services, lash application, trend manicures, and massages. Breast Cancer Awareness minx were also offered with donations benefiting the American Cancer Society.

We sipped strawberry champagne, ate delicious candy colored cupcakes from GoodieBox Bakeshop, and had a smashing time (didn’t we?).

For the festivities, I slipped on a Rachel Rachel Roy Marquesa Dress (yes, the same one Sanaa Lathan wore yesterday).

While Sanaa accessorized with peep toes, I pulled out my only souvenir from Paris: my new blue Miu Miu glitter pumps:

Yes, I have a slight Miu Miu shoe addiction. They’re cute and surprisingly comfy!

At any rate, I had a fantastic time meeting so many of you and hope to have more events in the future.

Stay tuned for monthly F Bomb events!

Fashion Bomber of the Day: Hunnit from LA

Since the ladies can get a little catty, I decided to break up this week of female Bombshells with Bomber Hunnit from LA:

Like most guys, this lead singer for the band Killer Kalifornia didn’t have much to say.

So the pictures will just have to speak for themselves:

For some reason his style, to me, screams West Coast. But I could of course be distracted by all the hand signs he’s throwing up…

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Aqua from Florida

Hey Hey!
We’re continuing to bring the Bomb Bombshells with Aqua from Hollywood, Florida:

She says, “It’s difficult for me to describe my style in words;simply because it is my form of expression.”

“I do not write, sing or dance to express myself. Instead, I use my style.”

” With me a shirt is not just a shirt or a pair of pants is not just a pair of pants…”

” They each symbolize what I am feeling inside, almost like a puzzle…”

” Fashion is my outlet, it is my way of showing the world what’s really on my mind. “

“My Style can’t be defined in words, but through pictures my style tells a story.”

Alright! What story do you think Aqua’s clothes tell?

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Robyn from North Carolina

Columbus Day is such a weird holiday, no?
Since it doesn’t seem as if anyone is off from work, we’re continuing today with our daily Bombshell ritual from Robyn from North Carolina:

She says, “My style is some what urban grunge…”

“It’s always changing. “

“…I really like to make a statement with my clothes…”

“…And never like wearing the same look twice unless I absolutely love it.”

” I have a blog called Off 4th and Graham ( www.msrobynlove21.blogspot.com) where I feature what inspires me and current fashion trends and fashion shows.”

Fashion Bomber of the Day: Dayne from North Carolina

I always like to feature at least one guy a week, and today’s Bomber Dayne from North Carolina made the cut:

He says, “I’m a 21-year-old college student and an English major/ Entrepreneurship minor in the field of fashion writing.”

“… I always incorporate accessories in every outfit, most noted is my Hermes scarves which I rock tied different ways almost daily!”

“My sister Diva & I have our own accessories line, ALL$TARR APPAREL which has caught the eye of many artists, but most recently Rapper Rye Rye!!”

” I get complimented on my style because I do what feels authentic — I never hop on the wave of trends, however if I had to pick one style influence it would definitely be MR. KANYE WEST!!! “

I think it’s important to show that men can be fashionable & chic just as much as ladies considering men’s fashion can often be very mundane, particularly when it comes to black men.”

I can totally see the Kanye West influence. What say you?
