Real Style: Mercedes Benz Fall 2013 Fashion Week Day 3

The weather is NYC is simply not cooperating with fashion week, though show attendees are making the most of it, splashing color and patterns onto wintry looks. With a strong focus on outerwear and cold weather accessories, ladies and gents have managed to look rather stylish:

Check out our best picks from day 3:

It’s all about a great coat and shoes! These two young ladies looked lovely in blue colored jackets and metallic heels.

This young man simply wasn’t playing around! He pulled a turtleneck over his face for extra warmth.

These two Fashion Bomb readers punched up black looks with neon separates, studded boots, and coated jeans.

Layering is oh so essential: these ladies places skirts over pants and chunky scarves over multiple sweaters.

Plays on proportions made these black looks interesting.

Style Diary: Mercedes Benz Fall 2013 Fashion Week Day 3

On Day 3 of New York Fashion Week, I was definitely in a chill mode.

The city was covered in snow and slush, it was a Saturday…at any rate, Marta M stole a few quick pix of my ‘off duty’ casual look.

To battle the cold, I wore tights under my All Saints leather biker pants (first worn here), and slipped on a Givenchy Men’s Fall 2012 striped sweatshirt.

I covered up in a Helmut Lang for Intermix jacket, and offered my interpretation of reasonable footwear in a pair of Altuzarra booties (they weren’t reasonable—I went home limping a couple hours later).

After the snow had subsided, it was actually pretty bright out, so I ditched my umbrella and stopped into the GAP for a trendy pair of mirrored frames.

Then it was backstage for Hervé Leger by Max Azria.

Happy Saturday!
So on Day 2 of Fashion Week, NYC was walloped by Winter Storm Nemo, which dumped loads of freezing rain (then snow) onto the city. Since my first show of the day, Sally LaPointe, was at Pier 57, I knew I had to bundle up with my All Saints Wilkin Down jacket and Zara pants.

After the show, I texted an Uber cab to pick me up and take me to my next destination.

Haven’t heard of Uber? It’s an on demand luxury car service, with stations in San Francisco, LA, Atlanta, New York, and more. Basically you text Uber an address (or send a request via the Uber app)…

… and a car comes and picks you up within minutes.

Uber charges your credit card on file, so no money is exchanged (tip is included). I’ve been using Uber like a champ all of fashion week, as I have a lot of offsite shows. It works like a dream!

At any rate, I had my Uber driver drop me off by Lincoln Center so I could eat and blog a bit.

I decompressed in a Peter Pilotto Fall 2012 top along with Peter Pilotto x Nicholas Kirkwood pumps.

What do you think?
Stay tuned for more instances from my fashion week adventures, along with street style.
xoxo

We’re ending our week with Janet from Toronto:

She writes, “[I am a] curvy lady who is passionate about fancy clothes and creating clothes. Check me out here: www.janetdolce.com

“My style is very conservative.”

“…I love tailored blazers, coats and trousers, and I’m always in heels.”

” For my curvier body type, I always looked to Kim Kardashian and Beyonce for Style Inspiration…”

“… but this is when I realized I was limiting myself to what I thought would work for me.”

” So now it’s more conservative with a touch of punk rock in it.”

” I do follow trends because for me that is living in the present…”

“… the way I play around with whats trending is what individualizes me.”

“I dont shop for just anything.”

” Some of my pieces I have had for years and just bring them out when I missed them and add a touch new to it.”

“I love fashion from the 50’s and often dress up to feel elegant.”

OK! I think your style description is spot on. I love your conservative looks, particularly your white top and black leather pants.

Morning ladies!
BCBG Max Azria was kind enough to invite us backstage for their show on Day 1 of New York Fashion Week, so I decided to wear a complete look from their Spring 2013 collection to attend the festivities:

Yes, the conservative Suzy tried a print on print, particularly BCBG’s Anderson woven blouse and matching Landon floral print pants.

To combat the cold, I slipped on a J.Crew wool coat.

And threw my Ipad and invites into a yellow Ipad case by Gigi New York.

I signed some autographs… (kidding, Elle.com took my picture. I was giving the photog my name).

Then I was off to my next show.

What do you think of my first attempt at head-to-toe prints?

Claire’s Life: The 2013 Independent Fashion Blogger’s Conference

Happy First Day of Fashion Week!

Yesterday, I was honored to speak at the Independent Fashion Blogger’s Conference for the 2nd time.

I, along with Aimee Song of Song of Style, Kristin Ess of The Beauty Department, Justin Livington of Scout Sixteen, Joe Adolph of Nordstrom, and Scott Allan of Linkshare talked about the super sexy topic of affiliate marketing.

If you don’t know what that is, it’s basically the organic process of making a commission off of products you suggest to your readership. Because we talk about shopping so much, affiliate marketing is essential to us keeping the lights on here at TFB;)
After chatting on stage, I grabbed pictures with Former Bombshells and Fashion Bomb readers, including Kan of Kanskloset.com, Ariana of ShopaholicUndercover.com, Kelly W of IslandChic77.com, Crislex of Plastic Kitten, and many more.

For the occasion, I stuck to my preppy predilections, but added a jazzy twist with a Rag & Bone Gold Suit, an Etro button down, and Valentino pumps.

I traded in my neon Proenza Schouler PS1 for a metallic plum PS11.

And accessorized with various rings, delicate necklaces, and Noir studded earrings.

Since it’s always chilly in NYC, I threw on a Theory Cassius fur

And was ready for my next event (I attended the Red Dress Collection later on, review to come). Look who I ran into:

The blogger for CanNeverBeaSkinnyBish.ca writes, “I currently reside in Toronto but I’m originally from Cameroon.”

“My style is very feminine…”

“… and girly.”

” I have a thing for colors and prints…”

“… especially African print!”

“I don’t try to be anyone else with my style, especially since I’m on a tight budget!”

” I like to mix old pieces with 1 new item rather than buying an entire new outfit.”

“I draw my inspiration from fellow bloggers like myself…”

“… as well as colors I see everyday.”

“I don’t like following trends.”

” I go more on a “what looks good on me” vibe. “

Cute and colorful. I love it! You play well with patterns, and have some great accessories. Bombshell!
