Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs left bodycons by the wayside for Spring 2015, sidling up to looser silhouettes with draped, ruched, and pleated details. The signature cut outs for which the brand is known still came to the fore on knee length shifts, but the spirit was decidedly more relaxed. The duo does overtly sexy oh so well, but this season saw them flexing their skills with a ‘less is more’ type attitude.
Taking inspiration from Cleopatra, Cushnie et Ochs offered sleek separates in a color palette of marigold, dusty pink, white, black, and teal, offset by tubular gold necklaces, cut out arm cuffs, and disc shaped earrings. Ruffles fluttered on v-necks and hems, adding volume to the mix.
Flippy fringed skirts brought some diversity to the showing, as did variegated striped sets, which played on one shoulder tops, pencil skirts, and barely there bikinis.
While stunning, some pieces gave off a vibe of deja vu. The grommets? Versace. The halter neck dress with a dangerously high voluminous ruffle? Balenciaga or even Anthony Vaccarello. Designers are known to pluck inspiration from others, but those particular pieces fell flat simply because they lacked originality.
What triumphed, however, were the collection’s more simple offerings. I could see the white ruffled hem jacket and loose fit trousers on Zendaya, and any of the marigold yellow options on Solange. Beyonce would kill a soft pink crop top set.
What do you think of Cushnie et Ochs’s latest collection?

We’re ending this eventful week with Tarah-Lynn from New Jersey!
She says, “[I’m] the style blogger behind Adornedinarmor.com!”
” Yes, “adorned” as in Miguel’s “let my love adorn you”! (That’s what I have to sing when people misspell my site haha).”
” In actuality, my blog name derives from Ephesians 6:13 which basically states to adorn yourself with the armor of God to be able to fight off whatever comes at you.”
” I am a woman of faith that loves fashion and embraces my own personal style, so I figured that the name was fitting! My site “Adorned in Armor” recently got shortlisted in Cosmopolitan’s 2014 UK Blog Awards as their “Best International Fashion Blog w/ Independent Fashion Bloggers”!!!”
“It’s difficult for me to label my style simply because I’m not afraid to try anything and since it’s always changing. Slightly, yes, but still changing. I do have a love for chic pieces and mixing different prints and textures. My closet has a lot of color but I also love a great monochromatic white or black. My style is versatile and modest (yes, I cover up!).”
I love it all, though your green/yellow look is my fave!
Be sure to check out more of Tarah-Lynn’s looks on Instagram @adornedinarmor and on her blog, Adornedinarmor.com.

Take a look at today’s Fashion Bomber, Jamil from Philadelphia:
He didn’t say much, only writing, ” I’m born and raised in Philadelphia and I love creating characters through my dress.”
I love it! You have a fantastic variety of looks, and you make them all work. I think I need that ‘Just Drop Out’ tee.

Happy Friday!
So yesterday was a doozy! Not only did I relaunch FashionBombDaily.com with a spanking new design, but it was also the first day of New York Fashion Week!
And while I popped by Lincoln Center to attend the BCBG, Richard Chai, Desigual, and Marissa Webb shows (with a stop by a Harlem’s Fashion Row luncheon in between), all I could think about was how you guys were feeling about our new, updated look.
When I finally had a chance to slow down, I read all your comments. Common complaints were that the site was too clunky, too busy, and overwhelming. I hear ya!
I’m currently working with my webmaster to revise the site with your concerns in mind. Though the homepage will most likely stay the same, you can now access the ‘Blog’ tab, which features posts in the same format you’re accustomed to. Bookmark it!
And I just want to let you know that I’m working hard to make sure we deliver all the latest celeb style, fashion news, and street chic in a format that works for you. The goal was to enhance your Fashion Bomb Daily experience, not diminish it.
At any rate, this site is all about you. Let me know what you like (as you always do), and I’ll do my best to strike a balance between my goals for the site and your wishes. And thanks for the support! I loved meeting so many of you in and around Lincoln Center!
We’re kicking off New York Fashion Week! Khaliah, blogger for TheCovetedK.com, was submitted by her friend Stephanie:
She wrote, “Only she can actually describe her own style, but ever since I met her she’s always exuded a lovely feminine confidence.”
“She is able to combine trends with a classic twist that accentuates her body.”
“Her simple style never feels forced…”
“… and for a fashionista on a budget i believe she definitely hits the mark.”
“I hope your readers enjoy her style as much as I do. :)”
“She documents most of style shopping adventures on her blog: thecovetedk.com and her instagram is also thecovetedk.com.”
See more here:
Lovely! The picture quality could be better, but your style still shines through.

I guess today’s Bomb Blogger comes by popular demand!
As you all may know, I’m always open to suggestions and new ideas regarding the Bomb Blogger feature. I aim to bring the Fashion Bomb readers the hottest up-and-comers but I also want each of you to genuinely gain inspiration from those I choose to spotlight.
With that said, I’ve received numerous emails and suggestions regarding this young woman and, after careful evaluation of her blog, I decided to feature her. Adobea was the first to reach out, writing, “I recently stumbled across a blogger that caught my attention, and left me craving more… I think readers will love her, too. The blog is “I Go By Frankie”. She’s also a personal stylist for ASOS. I don’t know how I hadn’t come across her site/IG before, but I’m glad I found it. Just thought I’d share!“
Well, Adobea, thanks for your suggestion! Without further ado, may I present today’s Bomb Blogger – Frankie of I Go By Frankie.
Frankie’s style is certainly out of the ordinary. With an eclectic (and confident) mix, it’s clear that she surely knows how to piece an outfit together! As I perused her blog, I was in complete awe with the fashion risks this young stylist takes – from the difficult “socks and heels” combo to her print-on-print mastery – it’s no secret why she works for one of the world’s biggest online retailers.
I chose Frankie as today’s Bomb Blogger for one simple reason: individuality. Frankie embodies that special quality that many people only hope to achieve. She pulls off her look so effortlessly and makes everything seem so cool in the process. From the bold hair to the enviable accessories, Frankie is quite the source for multifaceted inspiration. Her style is all about fun!
Want to see more of Frankie? Visit her blog I Go By Frankiehere or take a quick trip to her IG @igobyfrankie or @asos_freddie. I’m sure we will definitely see more of this young woman in the future!
So, what do you think of today’s Bomb Blogger? Thoughts?
Hey Fashion Bomb readers! After a long and eventful weekend, I’m happy to go start off this week with another Vintage Visions feature. Let’s get to it!
Now, today’s highlight does qualify as a “vintage”; however, I feel her influence has evolved ever since she first stepped onto the fashion scene in the 1970s. Her natural beauty and outstanding work ethic has placed her among the top supermodels (amidst names like Naomi, Tyra, Alek, etc) and women all over the world idolize her. There is no doubt that the face simply known as “Iman” has taken the world by storm and her story is nothing short of epic.
The Somali fashion model, actress and entrepreneur was discovered by American photographer Peter Beard in Kenya during her years at university – the stunning 5’10” beauty initially started out as a student studying political science at the University of Nairobi. Soon after her discovery, Iman soon moved to the states where she started a career that would soon change her life forever.
In 1976, Iman landed her first modeling assignment for the cover of Vogue Italia. Not bad for a beginner, huh? After the success of her first cover, she soon started to work with some of the most distinguished names in the fashion industry including Halston, Gianni Versace, Donna Karan, Issey Miyake and Calvin Klein. Almost immediately, Iman’s growing popularity solidified her status as a “supermodel”. The legendary Yves Saint Laurent even credited Iman as his “muse”. Talk about awesome!
In 1992, Iman married British rock musician David Bowie and continued her indisputable reign. Iman’s modeling career spanned for almost two decades! After a notable career in fashion, Iman soon turned her focus towards other endeavors. She started her own cosmetics firm called Iman Cosmetics, with a primary focus on ethnic women – she strived to provide women of color with makeup that fit their skin tones perfectly. As a model, she was aware of the complexities women of color faced in finding those “difficult” shades. Her cosmetic line features bold lipsticks, foundations and even bronzers. Want to find out more? Visit Iman Cosmetics here.
Aside from her makeup empire and impressive modeling credentials, Iman is also known for her philanthropic work. She is involved with a number of charitable efforts including the Children’s Defense Fund and the Enough Project. In addition, Iman also serves as a spokesperson for the Keep A Child Alive program.
Well! To all our Iman fans out there, check out Claire’s Candy Bomb tee saluting this Somali powerhouse – you can purchase your Iman tees here and here. My personal favorite features Iman and her AMAZING ‘fro!
I absolutely love Iman – she’s the epitome of chic. Queen!
So, what do you guys think of today’s Vintage Vision feature? Any suggestions for future contenders?
Cute! I adore your casual black and white looks.
