It’s hard to get back to our regularly schedule program with all the Met Gala fun, but go back we must!
Check out today’s Bombshell, Maya from LA:
She says, “Recently working for Saks Fifth Avenue as a stylist and sales consultant in Costa Mesa,Ca , I gained the confidence to branch out and conduct my own business. I work closely with up and coming designers in the Los Angeles and Orange County area and establish relations with buyers and store owners to get lines into stores.”
” Also I assist in creative directing with store owners (Melrose ave. / Orange County) and brands with socially and fashionably renovating their line and boutiques. Being only 21-years-old this is a very huge role to take on, but with faith in God and superior work ethic, all is possible.”
“I like for my style to exude my confidence. A woman that demands a presence in a room is always the image I try to pursue.”
” I would describe my style as extremely eclectic and chic. Wearing up and coming contemporary brands such as BellenBrand to wearing more established brands such as UNIF or Theory, I have a wide variety of taste. I typically like to wear all black and mono-chromatic colors. Although my clothes tend to be very contemporary and high-end ready to wear, I’m always on the hunt for a good deal. I purposely shop and support exclusive boutiques all around California (I.E. Reloaded LA- Melrose Ave. to LunaB- Laguna Beach) to find unique pieces.”
“I’m very excited to take on this new journey as an Instagram fashion blogger and I have great ideas and projects in the works. Conducting self-styled shoots monthly, submitting photos, and continuously updating my followers are my tactics to becoming socially exposed within this industry. Hopefully with the assistance with blogs such as Fashion Bomb Daily, I’ll be able to branch out to many viewers and potential clients.”
That’s a mouthful! Love your looks.

Is the weekend here yet…? At any rate, last night, I attended model, actor, and designer Andre King’s birthday bash, held at Chandelier on 41st street. The venue was filled with notables, including Swizz Beatz (Andre’s brother), Angela Simmons, Shaun Ross, Ty Hunter, and many more. People showed up and showed up! Take a look: Angela Simmons was adorable in a zippered Topshop dress and Schutz sandals I must have (I did a bit of research, they’re available at the Schutz New York store. Get them by calling (212) 257-4366). Ty Hunter looked chic in a Served Fresh Blackberry Crewneck. Model Shaun Ross posed with his beautiful mom in an Exterberria white leather shirt. And the birthday boy looked dapper in a custom polka dotted blazer. I dug into the archives for my All Saints Spitalfields dress I wore for my first TV stint on BET’s Rip the Runway! I remixed it with All Saints Leather pants, Jimmy Choo heels, and a Haute Hippie White Dress worn as a blazer. Fun times in NYC: What do you think?

“… and simple.”
” I love vintage shopping and good deals.”
” I have a lot of energy…”
“… so whatever I wear has to match my mood.”
Wow, I absolutely LOVE this! Rock on, my Haitian sister.

Happy Wednesday!
Yesterday, I had the distinct honor of speaking to FIT’s Black Retail Action Group (B.R.A.G for short).

Though I was more than a little late, these future industry insiders waited patiently to hear about my journey and any advice I could offer on going for your dreams.

It was a full house!
Aside from recounting my background, I also offered 5 tips:
1. Be persistent and consistent
2. Pay your dues/accumulate great experiences
3. If something doesn’t work, try something new! The definition of insanity is to try the same thing over and over again and expect a different result.
4. Banish fear/follow your heart. Don’t make excuses
5. Watch the company you keep.
Perhaps I’ll write a book one day expounding on each point. But for now, I’m just speaking on it.
For the occasion, I decided to go for a bit of a Clueless vibe in a plaid Dries van Noten jacket over a Robert Rodriguez shirt and Zara pleated faux leather skirt.
Someone asked if I could show how I repurpose items in my closet. I first wore the Dries jacket with black jeans and Louboutin pumps at fashion week.
Which way was better?
At any rate, it’s always fun to share of my time, and I met a lot of students who might be Fashion Bomb interns sooner than later!

Karl Pierre took a bunch more flix. If you want to see ’em, be sure to check out TheBombLife.com (I’ll try upload them before the end of the day).
Many thanks to the students at BRAG for having me. And be sure to stay in touch (and tag me in all those selfies we took!).
Smootches!
