Model Gigi Hadid was the ‘gilded lady‘ as she graced the red carpet for the 2015 CDFA Awards. The teen queen uplifted an eye-catching, metallic jumpsuit by the amazing Michael Kors. The ‘fit also boasts flared bottoms and a sleek silhouette. Love it!
The 5th annual Critics Choice Awards was held this past week and Mel B also attended while looking ravishing in an all-white jumpsuit from Kimora Lee Simmons’s line,KLS. The caped frock maintains a simple black/white color palette and oozes sheer elegance. She’s always so beautiful.
Next up, we have Rihanna! The singer partied it up in a bold, sequined Di$count Univer$e dress which simply read “You Will Never Own Me, I Will Never Fear You“. Deep, huh? Her look serves up the conservative side but also features a low-cut back. She even opted for a pair of strappy, black DSquared2 heels and fiery hair. I’m here for it!
Solange makes yet another appearance in our Look of the Week feature, this time, in a structural Toni Maticevski number. The style maven also flaunted a cutout at the midsection and a one-shoulder strap. The white heels polished this look perfectly! She can do no wrong.
Q.U.E.E.N. Janelle Monae was also on hand for the 2015 CDFA Awards! The songstress was the definition of regal in a custom creation from Tadashi Shoji. Her caped dress features gold embellishments, a and a structured high-neckline. The fashionista topped off her look with matching Christian Louboutin sandals and an Edie Parker clutch. Yes!
The lovely Kerry Washington gave all kinds of life in an embellished black two-piece by David Koma. Her look consists on a simple, black crop top and an embellished gold bottom. The fashionista kept her jewelry to a minimum as she let her skirt (and slit) do the talking. I adored this! Come through, Kerry!
Though Thakoon Panigchul is celebrating the momentous occasion of the release of his Resort 2016 collection, he also some other notable news happening for his brand. From this point on, the Thakoon Addition line—the brand’s contemporary assortment—will simply be layered into the principal line: offering a broader range when it comes to the artistic vision as well as price points. This meant a coequal direction was at play for both brands here—great for fans of either line as well as women coming in somewhere in the middle.
Addition was known for its modern spin on classic American sportswear pieces, injected with a Baja-inspired, surfer flair. That shined through here by way of the model’s wet hair as if she just emerged from the ocean, easy breezy lace-up tops, strappy leather sandals accented with buckles, gold hardware, and colorful beading, and sultry crop tops.
A hand-crafted feel resonated in an off-the-shoulder knit top with lace-up shoulders, a long-sleeve open-knit cropped sweater, a leg-baring overall with an eyelet bib, and a short-sleeve knee-length knit with a fringe hem that could double as a tunic or dress: all incredibly accessible yet fun enough to make a real impact in your wardrobe.
Hemlines were short, so make sure you keep those leg workouts and long-runs going all year long. A white hooded number with contrast black mesh insets felt more like a cover-up than anything else, but could easily be layered over black skinnies, while a dot print mini layered under a sleeveless knit, iris-embroidered tunic was a study in transitional dressing—wear a pair of black tights underneath and a leather jacket on top and you’ll be ready to go.
The iris prints were a pretty spin on classic florals, adorning a long-sleeve sheer-inset top, high-waist pleated maxi skirt, a floor-grazing dress with a deep-v neckline and a mesh-inset waist, functional, yet boldly-hued button front shirts, and two-tone mini skirts with sporty tie detailing. Trousers in the pattern paired with a long-line cardigan and matching v-neck sweater were the definition of relaxed and a sheer gown in the floral decoration will surely be seen on the red carpet slipped over some black undergarments by one of Hollywood’s most daring.
Those who have deeply invested in crop tops this season will be happy to know that bare midriffs are still very much “in” for Resort with long-sleeve knit versions, a short-sleeve cotton knotted iteration for a sexy spin on the white t-shirt, a dot print ruffle hem piece perfect for accompanying a high-waist pencil skirt, and a gingham and stripe rendition for ladies who love to mix prints.
Last night, besties Rihanna and Melissa Forde were spotted courtside at Game One of the NBA Finals. The stylish duo looked rocker chic in coordinating black ensembles and were all smiles throughout the epic (and lengthy) match.
Her signature leather jacket is currently sold out but you can find similar alternatives here and here.
To add a quirky fix to her look, the bad gal also donned a black Dominic Louis x Mandy Coon leather bunny backpack. The bag features adjustable shoulder straps and a zip fastening. If you’re up for the splurge, check out additional details here.
But, my absolute FAVORITE part of this oufit are the ever-so-gorgeous Tom Ford boots! These leather stunners house a 4.5 inch heel, gold hardware and a full-length back zipper. If I could afford the price tag, I would definitely consider dropping a few coins! A girl can dream, right? Lol! Purchase them here.
Overall, I liked this! It was casual, cool and sexy.

As an update on the developing Tony Award’s story we’ve been tracking for two weeks: Anna Wintour isn’t the only fashion name attached to the festivities this year. American Theatre Wing chair William Ivey Long, who is instrumental in the awards, admitted that the late Joan Rivers ended up having a lot of influence on this ongoing transition to make the event gain in popularity. But amongst the living, editors from Teen Vogue and Vanity Fair as well as the team at KCD have assisted in styling about 130 attendees. The show will appear on CBS Sunday. (Fashionista)
