So I’m down in New Orleans for the ESSENCE festival!
On day 1, I was honored to host the Golden Carpet for McDonald’s 365 Black Awards.
The event was created to acknowledge exceptional people in the community who are making an impact through service. The Awards show launched in 2003 as an extension of McDonalds’s 365Black platform, which celebrates the achievements of African-Americans year-round.
Chock full of performances by Sevyn, B.O.B, and Andra Day, and hosted by Keke Palmer and Terrence J, the show was lots of fun (it airs on BET later this summer)! And the carpet was filled with fabulous people.
Check it out:
Keke Palmer looked cute in a Victoria Beckham Dress and Tamara Mellon sandals.
Blackish Star Yara Shahidi was adorable in Stella & Jamie separates.
Her co-star Marcus Scribner looked quite dapper in a Zara suit and Cole Haan shoes.
Andra Day is a singer you definitely should know! She lived up to her retro style in a dress by Tatyana.
Arts and Entertainment Honoree Ava Duvernay and I bonded over our locs. She was a beauty in black and white lace separates.
Amber Riley slipped on printed Vince Camuto separates and Jessica Simpson heels.
Sevyn Streeter flashed some leg in a crystal embellished black gown.
Her beau B.O.B. also graced the golden carpet in all black.
Salli Richardson-Whitfield looked bomb in Byron Lars.
Shaniece posed pretty with husband Flex Alexander.
And lastly, I grabbed a pic with Fashion Queens Bevy Smith and Ms. Lawrence.
The show airs later this summer. I’ll be sure to tweet you or let you know when it goes down.
What did you think of the style on McDonald’s 365 Black Awards Golden Carpet?
BET Awards 2015 host Tracee Ellis Ross took to the ‘Gram in the ever-popular Atsuko Kudo latex dress accompanied by a pair of nude Christian Louboutin pumps. According to the Fashion Bomb readers, an alarming 81% of you believed the actress rocked it better than Kim Kardashian West! And, I agree! Her curves are ev-ery-thing. She just gets it, no?
Top model Alessandra Ambrosio was spotted leaving the Balmain’s Spring 2016 Menswear show uplifting a head-to-‘fit from the fashion house’s runway presentation. Her Embossed Button Halter Dress features a fitted silhouette, flap pockets and gold buttons. The fashionista also donned a pair of Balmain peep-toe, leather sandals. Hot!
Once again, the crop top reigns supreme! Kat Graham looked effortlessly chic as she was papped in an Endless Rose cutout top, silver wedges and a striped Alexander Wang abstract skirt. The actress also rocked braids, a bold lip and a nude bag. She’s so gorg!
Jada Pinkett Smith is it! The style maven gave all kinds of life in a leather Jitrois creation that boasts a halter neck, a ribbed top and a zipped back. She topped off her frock with simple black pumps, a killer smile and fleekworthy hair. I can’t wait to see what she wears next!
To round out our contenders, we have the lovely Beyonce! The superstar kept it casual and cool in a pinstripe, wrap dress by Romeo Hunte. Although the dress maintains a simple look, the detailing perfectly accents her curvy physique. With a low-cut neckline, embroidered buttons and a black/white palette, this dress is the business! Go Bey!
Pink dresses are the wave this week! Jada Pinkett Smith was spotted in a Versace Embroidered Halter Gown in the rosy hue at the Magic Mike XXL Amsterdam Premiere:
Gorgeous! Jada has been serving with each and every look of this promo tour. I also loved Amber Heard’s Cushnie et Ochs frock.
Naomie Harris was pretty in pink at the Serpentine Gallery Summer Party in London in a Christopher Kane Pre-Fall 2015 Pink and Black Sleeveless Front Pleat Dress:
She says, “My style is a hodgepodge of classic, colorful and vintage pieces.”
Check it out!
Hot! Love that colorful dress against that wall. You’re giving me inspiration for Nola!

The Fourth of July is vastly approaching which I’m all too excited about because it means that I’m that much closer to my birthday. If you’ve made plans to celebrate the holiday weekend, we’ve cooked up a few wardrobe ideas to get you going this Independence Day.
Tap into the patriotic theme in a pair of American flag cut offs and a red tailored blazer.
Add a bit of sass with a white bodysuit with a plunging neckline, grey patent leather pumps, and a red monogram shoulder bag.
Give your look a semi-nautical feel with a blue stripe vest top and an asymmetric skort.
If you’re looking to get a little fancier for the Fourth, work a striped skirt with a white cropped top.
Liven things up with a pair of red scalloped sandals, a medium clutch, and colorful sunglasses.
For a more casual take on the Fourth of July theme shrug on a red stripe shirt and a pair of distressed denim shorts.
Add the finishing touch with a red shoulder bag, leather espadrilles slip-on shoes, and a few golden trinkets.
And for a final July 4th wardrobe option, forego the red, white, and blue and opt for city chic in crisp white separates.
Dress up a ribbed haltered crop top and a striped midi skirt with gold gladiator sandals, a pair of sleek cateye shades, and a woven leather-trimmed satchel.
What do you think? What fabulous plans do you ladies have for the holiday weekend?
It’s Friday, and we have a Fashion Bomber! You’re going to love Tek from Atlanta:
He was submitted by an admirer, who wrote, ” I have a follower on Instagram from my city (Atlanta), and I think he’d be a dope submission for bomber of the day (doesn’t hurt that he’s fine too so yanno…lol).”
” Prior to submitting this email I made sure he was ok with this submission…”
Welll, he has a new follower here! He’s a Bomber!

I’m heading down to NOLA for Essence Fest tomorrow and I’m so excited!
After the 2015 BET Awards, celebs were spotted out and about grabbing lunch in the City of Angels in crop tops, statement-making shoes, figure-skimming frocks, classic trench coats, and more.
Let’s see what they wore!
Before making a splash on the red carpet with platinum hair, Karrueche Tran was spotted grabbing lunch at Chin Chin Restaurant in LA with her natural brunette locks, a printed crop top, high-waist white jeans, a denim shirt tied around her waist, and pink peep-toe booties. Cute no?
Dascha Polanco flaunted her curves in a green and black sheer stripe-inset Ekaterina Kukhareva frock while making an appearance on the Today Show. Hot!
While traipsing through Heathrow Airport, Kim Kardashian put her favorite Balenciaga Basketweave Crepe Trench Coat and Manolo Blahnik sandals to good use—accenting them with a blush pink tank and leggings.
A black and white check crop top, high-waist destructed white jeans and Converse were Christina Milian’s choices after partying at Warwick Nightclub in Hollywood. No complaints here with this casual ensemble!
Summer means it’s music festival season, thus Leigh-Anne Pinnock was spotted at the Wireless Festival across the pond in Topshop Oversized Flat Hoop Earrings, a DKNY Pure Contrast Stripe Tunic cinched at the waist with an Amen Leather High Bead Embroidered Belt, a Topshop Faux Suede Fringe Crossbody Bag, and a pair of Alberto Fasciani boots.
Closing out the week was Rita Ora in Heathrow, sporting a wide-brim hat, oversized readers, a white button-front shirt left open to expose a flash of midriff, boyfriend jeans, and brown suede booties. A great travel getup if I do say so myself!
