Hey Hey!!
It’s been an exceedingly busy past few weeks between the BET Awards and ESSENCE Fest! ESSENCE was all about brand synergies, so after hosting the Golden Carpet for McDonalds, I headed over to the My Black is Beautiful booth on the 4th of July to chat beauty and style with celebs and fellow bloggers who stopped by.
Elle Varner passed through, looking patriotic in a red, white, and blue striped set by Black Fleece. In response to the question, “What are you working on to feel Altogether Beautiful,” she said, “I’m working on loving myself. And when you love yourself, you can’t help but feel beautiful.” Preach!
She also talked about her must have beauty product (tinted moisturizer), and about her fashion style (she described it as quirky). There will be video sometime soon, so stay tuned!
After chatting with Elle, I headed across the street to the Marriott for a Fashion Bomb Daily Meet N Greet/shopping party with Meow and Barks Boutique.
The Jacksonville, Florida based store is chock full of trendy, affordable pieces and loads of Bombshells popped by to shop it up!
I finally met former Bombshells and design duo the DPiper Twins. I need both of those dresses!
And this fashionista looked electric in neon tones.
I wore Versace sandals, and added a pop of red with Covergirl lipgloss.
Learn more about My Black is Beautiful here and shop it up at Meow and Barks Boutique here. There’s a lot to love.
Stay tuned for more instances from my weekend in NOLA!
*Shout out to the Fashion Bombshells who came out to the Meet N Greet! I appreciate you!

Happy Monday!
So photographer Karl Pierre and I were on the scene this weekend at the ESSENCE Festival! We didn’t have much time to roam the streets for stylish attendees, as most of our engagements were in the Convention Center.
Take a look at some of the fashionistas we captured:
Chic printed shorts and a breezy top were smart choices for the NOLA heat.
This gorgeous Bombshell glowed in an orange maxi dress and flats.
This trio was very patriotic for the 4th, from the flag adorned tank to the Wonder Woman ensemble in the middle.
Yet another patriotic Bombshell! What do you think of her flag printed tank dress?
We ran into D. Woods, who sported an orange top, leather skirt, and white pumps.
Hairstylist Gocha blessed the festivities in a French Connection bandage dress.
On our way out, we spied songstress Justine Skye, who looked adorable in a tube top and cargo pants.
And outside, we ran into Fashion Bomb Readers @NevAndriaLyriic and @Kimberlycagedbird who popped with a gorgeous maxi skirt and a white halter top and jeans.
Lastly, @Keishabee84 stood out in the crowd in an orange skater dress, Birkenstocks, and reflective sunglasses.
What do you think of the Real Style at ESSENCE Fest?

Her off-white silk shirt boasts scalloped cutout detailing, a classic collar, long sleeves, a concealed button-front fastening, and button cuffs.
Her matching shorts feature a pleated front with zip fly, scalloped cutout detailing at the bottom, a banded waist that sits above the hips, slant and back welt pockets, and a relaxed fit.
Hot! I’m starting to believe that Jada can do no wrong in the style department.
If you’re up for the splurge, get Jada’s top here and shorts here.
She says, “I’d describe my style as hip hop and high fashion.”
” High fashion is my first love, but at the same time I’m hugely influenced by hip hop/rap culture so my style lives somewhere in between the two.”
” Style is a very personal thing and I don’t often dress myself based on how I’m feeling at the time but how I want to feel that day.”
” Clothes empower me…”
“… and the great thing about style is that it can be influenced by so many different aspects of your life – it’s always evolving.”
” My style represents a caricature of myself, almost like my alter ego – I dress for who I want to be.”
I like! I think you described your look perfectly.

Ciara went for cute and casual for a visit to Capitol FM Studios in London, slipping on a red plaid button down shirt, white tank, and cut off denim shorts.
First Lady Michelle Obama was pretty in pink at the White House 4th of July Celebration in a Michael Kors Collection Spring 2015 Geranium and White Gingham Halter Dress:
So I met some amazing people down in New Orleans during ESSENCE fest (recap of my weekend coming soon!).
While hosting a pop up shop for Meow and Barks Boutique, I ran into Bombshell Dakota Smith, who told me about designer K Mills and her signature bow dress:
Each $250 dress is made to order, and comes in a slew of colors, including Yellow, Purple, Green, White, Coral, Red, Black, Wine, Royal Blue, Winter White, Pink, Teal, and Denim.
The silhouette is simple and saucy, with a detachable bow at the neck and a slimming, knee length pencil skirt.
Though I haven’t tried it as yet, Dakota assured me the fabric is sturdy enough to hold it all in. I can see this working for church or the office.
I’m not sure this particular silhouette would look good on me per se, but I’m sure many of you would look lovely in it! I’m afraid of the mockneck/bodycon combo (seems like a recipe for disaster for me!), though I’m willing to give it a go.
