Armina Mussa, longtime business partner to artist Solange, has finally spoken out on her terrible stabbing incident in April. Charges have been filed and bestie Solange issued a statement of support: “Watching Armina’s strength, courage, grace, and positivity during this time of hardship has been nothing short of a miracle. Jaden Smith has been getting his fair share of press, first for wearing a dress to prom, and then for returning to Twitter. Now, the young actor is scoring a few headlines for signing on to Baz Luhrmann’s new project The Get Down. Orange is The New Black‘s Laverne Cox will become the first ever transgender Madame Tussauds wax figure this month during Pride Weekend in San Francisco. This comes a little late but it deserves to be spread: Zendaya Coleman continues to be one of the most level headed and mindful of young celebrities out there these days. In a Facebook video the singer/actress/sometime designer obliquely responds to a media world fueled by reports of which celebrity decided to go natural and “Have You Seen Lady Gaga’s New Look?!” As told by Z: “It should not be a phenomenon if a girl decides to or not to wear makeup. If you want to beat that face down, then beat it down! If you want to go natural, then go natural! Do you boo, boo! Be happy!” From her lips to the ears of every woman around the world. (Teen Vogue)
For the past year or so people have been screaming about how badly J. Crew is doing, and the sales reports have provided evidence. Now, the company is clearly taking very decisive and visible moves to change that. This week, the brand has eliminated 175 jobs at corporate, fired their head of womenswear and taken the old head of design for Madewell and incorporated him into the J. Crew fold. Talk about action. Somsack Sikhounmuong is largely credited with the growth of Madewell, and J. Crew is likely hoping that he can replicate his success at their much bigger company. Expect less of a focus on Jenna Lyon and her premium J. Crew Collection and more on the basics. (Fashionista)
Have you heard of Procter & Gamble’s My Black is Beautiful initiative? Their Imagine a Future program was created to reach and teach millions of black women that they are beautiful through camps, inspirational initiatives and documentary screenings.
Last night they hosted a fab dinner to celebrate reaching 3.2 million girls and women with the program.
They tapped Sevyn Streeter to perform a few of her hits, including Don’t Kill the Fun and It Won’t Stop.
Before the revelry, I caught a bit of Real Style from the fashionable attendees.
Take a look:
How cute is Sevyn Streeter? And she’s super sweet as well! Before hitting the stage, she looked casually cute in a long black vest and ripped black jeans.
So the 10 of you who read TheBombLife.com are well aware of my 3 Month Shopping Challenge!
Basically I am trying to be more financially responsible, and am starting this summer by cutting back on splurges, allowing myself $1,000 a month for clothes. I’m keeping costs low–and one of the items I’ve purchased thus far is Zara’s $70 fringed skirt.
I love Mindy Kaling, find her hilarious, and adore that she has so much fun with fashion!
The comedian attended a Writers Panel for her hit show in a glittering Marc Jacobs dress and Jimmy Choo pumps.
Yep, berry lip!
Her dress was modeled in red in Jacobs’s Resort 2015 collection.
Her pumps have a silver cap toe.
It’s a beautiful dress! She looks nice, though I think I prefer her in less covered up looks (with more color!).
What do you think?
If you haven’t yet heard of Maison Kitsuné, then get familiar! Maison Kitsuné is a French fashion brand and record label that launched in 2002, artfully combining both worlds of fashion and music.
More exciting is their newest collaboration with vocalist, songwriter and visual artist Kilo Kish in a new capsule collection. Kilo Kish, born Lakisha Kimberly “Kish” Robinson, has been slowly infiltrating the music scene with her music since 2012 and has received music and fashion accolades from Rolling Stone, MTV, Vogue, and Elle to name a few.
Kilo Kish wanted to infuse her American roots with this iconic French brand and designed a collection of striped tees and accessories, including a cotton scarf, an iPhone case, and tote bag.
Kilo Kish exudes all the casual chic cool that women on both sides of the Atlantic celebrate. I’m loving the curls in the campaign for the capsule collection!
The lightweight sweaters will make for the perfect add-on during cool summer nights and everything she designed was meant to go with your favorite pair of denim jeans.
The iPhone case features a paint-inspired spotted and striped print. Before starting as a musician, Kilo Kish partially attended the Pratt Institute and completed her education at FIT, so her capsule collection certainly came from solid fashion credentials. In a show of cross-cultural unity, her custom tote featured both the French and American flag.
What do you think of Kilo Kish’s collaboration with Maison Kitsuné?
Her flawless makeup and sleek mid-length bob hairstyle were simply ravishing!
The Layered dress has a boat neck, a flowing cut, wide sleeves, and a low cut back.
Her stand out 4 1/2″ stiletto heel stompers were a Bomb Product of the day! They are crafted from contrasting panels of red and yellow patent-leather with bright-blue elaphe.
She looks amazing! I guess 40s is the new 30s huh?
