So after my fun and fabulous (!) trip to the British Virgin Islands, I hopped on down to Miami for the 2015 Color Comm Conference!
The event was created to uplift and encourage Women of Color in Communications through panels, empowering lunches, and dinners!
Fashion Bomb Daily is actually a media sponsor of the event, and was tasked with photographing some of the fabulous, fashionable women in attendance.
Take a look:
Inside the venue, we captured this Fashion Bomb reader who looked gorgeous in a wine hued maxi dress.
Color Comm Vice President Zoe Zeigler flaunted braids and a printed skirt.
And this attendee gave a conservative look some punch with a striped top.
We stopped @PurseEmpowerment during the day sessions, intrigued by her bright pink blazer and ‘Nerd’ sweater.
A gray dress and gorgeous hair was all @Sherhara needed to stand out in the crowd.
Later on in the day, we were wowed by @G2kWorld, who offset a @Circa24Forever printed skirt with a black crop top and a vintage beaded necklace.
Jasmine @JasmineFelicia went for easy and breezy in a look from Missguided.
@KissingLions gave high fashion in a layered look by Epperson.
Colorcomm President Lauren Wesley Wilson looked lovely in a printed maxi dress.
And I kept it colorful and ‘Miami’ inspired in a printed, fringed dress by the DPiper Twins.
I actually spoke on a panel about images of women of color in the media, and have been learning so much for the accomplished women here!

This week, celebs slipped on dresses of every iteration in the Sunshine State, along with some more casual looks including denim, sneakers, bodysuits, and more.
Let’s see what they wore!
Zendaya Coleman gave a spirited spin to the classic black and white combo in a contrast lapel tuxedo dress with a lace underlayer while making an appearance on The Boris and Nicole Show. I live for her style!
Eva Longoria went bold at the GKIDS’ Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet Screening in Los Angeles in a form-fitting blue frock with contrast stripes. Hot!
While out and about in LA, Chanel Iman showed off her mile-long stems in cutoffs, a tank, and strappy sandals.
It was all about neutrals for Kim Kardashian while leaving a photoshoot in LA in a long sand-hued coat and khaki-colored dress. As you can see, this is going to be her maternity uniform.
Christina Milian threw a #WCW block party at her We Are Pop Culture Pop-up Shop. For the fête, she kept it casual in all-white.
Closing out the week was Kylie Jenner in a white American Apparel bodysuit, high-waist jeans, Christian Louboutin pumps, and a slew of jewelry. I must admit: her style is slowly, but surely winning me over.

Though Summer Sizzle BVI’s been over for a couple days, our excitement is still running high from their fashion show! Guests of the event were treated to dozens of international designers, specializing in everything from couture swimwear to red carpet gowns. While many showed, these five stood out to our editors:
1. Carlton Jones
The ever gorgeous Grace Bol opened Carlton Jones’s collection, wearing a purple one piece swimsuit with a diaphanous peacock printed cape trailing behind her. Subsequent looks offered a similar resort chic vibe; a breezy colorblock cover up worn over a bikini, wind catching kaftans, and fluttering, slightly sheer maxi dresses.
Carlton Jones pieces are for the bold woman who demands attention on vacation and beyond.

2. Trefle Designs by Kristin Frazer
Another must have for your next beach excursion? Trefle Designs by Kristin Frazer.
Aside from the line’s flattering bikinis and alluring cover ups, I was a particular fan of the brand’s rainbow hued separates and swimsuits.
A high waisted bikini with a matching cape was one of my favorites from her showing, along with a bandeau top and pants combo.

3.Cesar Galindo
Cesar Galindo moved the conversation from the beach to cocktail hour with a series of sinewy maxis, adorned with modern curved rods.
The ball ended metallic embellishments defined waists and clavicles in a unique way.
Other stand outs included floral high waisted pants and lipstick pink maxis.

4. Yumi Katsura
From Cesar Galindo’s cocktails, Yumi Katsura changed the tone with scintillating gowns, embellished with beads and frothy ruffles.
The white, bridal inspired gowns were certainly my favorite. Any bride with spunk would be proud to wear one of these on her big day.

5. Leanne Marshall
Project Runway Season 5 winner Leanne Marshall closed the show with red carpet ready creations, which fluttered with unadulterated movement.
Hues ranged from brooding black to olive, burnt orange, and ombre dipped designs.
My favorite had to be this billowing gown.

Mary J Blige was spotted shopping it up with Simone Smith (LL Cool J’s wife) in Beverly Hills in a draped top, jeans, and $2,460 Giuseppe Zanotti Design Rylee Flat Knee High Gladiator Sandals:
Her Flat knee-high gladiator sandals are fashioned out of Mirrored gold leather and come with a gold metal ring design.
I was only able to find them on Zanotti’s UK site (maybe Mary picked them up while recording her London Sessions album?). At any rate, they’re now on sale for $1,233. Splurge here.

After featuring Malone Souliers lace up heels as a Bomb Product of the Day, and discovering that one half of the founding team was black fashionisto Roy Luwolt, I realized that there are probably a lot of African-Americans behind the scenes creating haute heels!

Anchorage, Alaska native Aminah Abdul Jillil was a background dancer for Britney Spears and Janet Jackson before launching her eponymous line of shoes. Her bow pumps burst onto the scene and onto the soles of dozens of bloggers and street style stars.
Though Aminah’s bow pumps have been replicated by various brands, Jillil has kept the creativity going with studded and coin adorned flats, embellished pumps, and more.

2. Layla Joy Williams of Iylia Collection
Pratt Institute of Technology graduate Layla Joy Williams honed her design skills under Michael Kors and Stuart Weitzman before launching Iylia, a line of gorgeous heels named after one of the most beautiful cities in Ancient Greece.
The practical sandals and boots, made in Brazil, are fashioned for women on the go with a flair for the fabulous.

3. Roy Luwolt of Malone Souliers
Roy Luwolt co-founded Malone Souliers along with Mary Alice Malone. Though Mary is the creative mind behind the designs, Luwolt offers his international expertise, having lived in over 45 countries as the child of American diplomats.
Malone Souliers shoes are pegged for a ‘certain woman’ with style–Solange Knowles has been spied in quite a few pairs.

4. Chelsea Paris
Chelsea Paris shoes designer Theresa Ebagua named her shoe line after her two daughters. After having perfected her craft in Ars Sutoria in Milan, she infused her shoe line with a few of her biggest inspirations: Africa, the Art Deco movement, and French fashion.
Her artful, colorful footwork has found a fan in Beyonce.

After graduating from Toronto’s Ryerson University, Aurora James fused her love of shoes with her interest in nurturing African craftsmanship to create Brother Vellies. The line of sandals, boots, and shoes are created by talented artisans in South Africa, Kenya, and Namibia, and boast eye catching details like feathers and fur.
Now the toast of the fashion crowd, Brother Vellies elaborate shoes have been spied on a slew of street style stars; Aurora was named a CFDA Vogue/Fashion Fund finalist.
