Between getting ready for my final semester of grad school (yay!) to managing my day-to-day tasks, it seems like life has been a juggling act. But, I always strive to remain optimistic! Anywho, I’m SUPER excited about heading out to see J. Cole perform tonight at the Forest Hills Drive Tour – so let’s get straight to some of our favorite looks this week.
Chanel Iman was an absolute vision as she flaunted her enviable gams in a silk green number by Alexander Wang. The sultry piece features a thigh-high slit, a plunging neckline and a fitted silhouette. The model added a bit of pizzazz to her fit with a black feather bag and Giuseppe Zanotti sandals. Hot!
Fashion killa Marjorie Harvey always rocks the hottest looks, doesn’t she? This time around, the style maven donned a sheer-sleeved Valentino frock and studded nude heels. I absolutely loved the planet print on this dress – it’s a bit unexpected and fun. To top off her look, Marjorie also uplifted a high-bun and drop earrings. She betta werk!
My gosh! The first time I scrolled past this picture of J.Lo on my IG feed I was beyond speechless! What is there not to like?! The American Idol judge/singer shut it down in a navy, eyelet embellished dress by Thierry Mugler and blue snakeskin Casadei pumps. This particular dress was also a part of the brand’s Fall 2015 presentation. C’mon legs!
Cute couple alert! Gabrielle Union and hubby Dwyane Wade made a quick appearance at the Samsung Launch Party while both rocking some stylish threads. While her boo chose accents of white and blue, Gabby went the monochrome route in an ivory two-piece set by Stella McCartney. Her pants boast a high waist and loose-fit as her crop top houses long sleeves. She looks amazing!
Kylie Jenner makes yet another appearance on our Look of the Week feature in another creation by Nicolas Jebran! Her multicolored minidress was quite the eye-catcher! With a bold print and a body-hugging fit, this look screamed sexy. The fashionista kept her shoe game simple with black sandals and even rocked a pair of sleek sunnies. Yes!
To round of our post, we have the lovely KeKe Palmer! The actress/singer took to Instagram to snap a few shots on a nearby balcony in her black Bec & Bridge cutout dress. The piece also features a halter neck top and elastic shoulder straps. Talk about gorgeous! And, I gotta admit – I’m loving the curls on her!
We only have one more left in August: I hope you all are making it count!
There were a smattering of celebs out and about this week. They made the mean streets of New York City, red carpet events, and film festivals their stylish playgrounds.
Let’s see what they wore!
No pants, no problem! Rihanna flaunted her toned gams in a long-sleeve number, a gold hand bracelet, and her favorite Tom Ford sandals.
Ciara kept it cute and casual for a day of pampering in NYC. She slipped on a heathered t-shirt dress and platform loafers for her day out, with red lips for a pop of color. Cute!
Jordin Sparks gave away free copies of her new album outside of the Apollo Theater in a $455 Sandro Riviera Lace Dress: a Summer-perfect look if you ask me.
Sonam Kapoor always serves up glitz and glamour and she definitely turned heads at the Indian Film Festival in Melbourne, Australia. She donned a Paolo Sebastian Couture gown. Hot!
I’ve been a bit obsessed with Olivia Cooke since the start of Bates Motel and she’s following up her great role on the hit TV show as the main character of Earl and the Dying Girl. She shimmered and sparkled at the film’s Premiere at the Locarno Film Festival in a mirror-embellished Marc Jacobs frock. I lived for this ensemble.
Jessica Alba keeps growing her billion dollar business! She gave back to the kids at a State Bag “Celebrate Back to School” event in a black tank, printed skirt, and sandals.
An all-black ensemble always gets the job done doesn’t it? Selena Gomez opted for one such look in NYC. No complaints here.
Rita’s chainmail-embellished halter top and Citizens of Humanity Corey Boyfriend Jeans felt a bit outdated in their approach, but I did love her rainbow-hued hair!
Rounding out the week was actress Daphne Joy. She was the lady in red in Hollywood in an Abyss by Abby gown that showed off her curves.
Her cotton dress channels a 60’s-inspired vibe. It features an allover floral print, fitted bodice, a shirt-style button front and collar, nipped-in waist, and a full skirt.
Her red calf leather mini tote showcases round top handles, a magnetic closure, and a detachable and adjustable shoulder strap.
This was charming!

Elle Magazines all over the globe are being called out for their lack of cultural sensitivity and diversity!
The US version of the magazine celebrates 30 years with its September Issue, and marked the occasion with a spread featuring dozens of designers and their muses. For the feature, they didn’t pluck any black designers.
The Huffington’s Post’s Jamie Feldman caught wind of this omission, and wrote, ” The magazine called upon 30 prominent designers and their muses to recreate “The Elle Look,” which the publication describes as “channeling our rich history of strong, sexy women with great personal style. Of the 81 designers and muses chosen for the story, only one is black: English actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw, who is biracial. The collective number of Asian and Latino or Hispanic designers can be counted on one hand, while the muses that represent each designers’ ideal were overwhelmingly white. “
Feldman continues, “The spread serves to highlight an issue that runs rampant in the fashion industry: a lack of diversity both within the pages of magazines and on the runways. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen pose alongside Beatrix Ost, Giorgio Armani is pictured with model Karolina Kurkova, and the list goes on.”
I have a dream that one day we can have a Fashion Magazine that acknowledges, celebrates, and embraces us. I have a dream that one day we can have a Fashion Fund that discovers, mentors, and uplifts the next Proenza Schouler or Marc Jacobs, regardless of race.
The Fashion Industry has a persistent and pernicious diversity problem. We will be the solution.
It was all about eye-catching patterns for former TOWIE star Lucy Mecklenburgh. She exited the Bulgari Hotel in a $1,613 Peter Pilotto Printed Crepe Dress:
Her dress features long sleeves, a fitted waist, one of the brand’s signature allover prints, two side pockets, cady top lining, and unlined skirt panels and sleeves.
Cute! She has great style.
