Zendaya Coleman gave all grades of glamour at the 2016 Miss America Competition at Atlantic City this weekend! She stunned in a white caviar-beaded silk-georgette gown from Michael Kors‘s Fall 2015 collection:
Diamond jewelry added some extra sparkle.
Her exact gown wasn’t modeled in the Fall 2015 collection, though you can see a similar Kors dress below:
Hot! Zendaya just keeps getting better!

Fashion Week can be overwhelming, from the shows to the parties to the dinners and associated events!
Designers and fads come and go, but street style is always chic. Take a look at what Brandon Isralsky captured on Day 3.
With Spring comes a sense of hope for warm weather ahead and anticipation for vacations and Summer Fridays to come. Tracy Reese played on that sense of elation and good cheer for her Spring 2016 collection which was downright pretty, chock full of girlishness, shimmer, and sheer detailing for a flash of skin.

We all know that florals for Spring aren’t groundbreaking (thanks Miranda Priestly), but they felt fresh here on an easy off-the-shoulder dress, leggy mini frock paired with a studded yellow coat and black sheer tights, a bold maxi number layered under a cropped leather biker jacket, and an easy camisole given added flair with a lace sheer blouse and easy rust trousers.

Lace overlays injected a dose of old school femininity to a glamorous sequin slipdress, a roomy printed coat, lime green bralette for a pop of color, and relaxed pants.

Separates made a huge impact with button-accented tops, flirty knee-length skirts, and printed jacket and trouser combinations that played on the pajama trend. The shoes were also a focal point of the looks— designed in collaboration with Sarah Jessica Parker.

Reese is best known for her dresses and there were some FLOTUS-worthy frocks in the collection. A printed short-sleeve crepe dress was pleasant and would work with the assortment’s icy blue booties or sneakers, while a white lace fishtail gown was one step away from bridal-perfect, save for its sheerness.

My favorite pieces on display were those that were simple in silhouette, but adventurous in color. A copper caped playsuit is standout enough to last in a modern-day woman’s wardrobe for years to come and a silver biker jacket will inject a rocker chic edge to everything from menswear-inspired suiting to the most prim and proper sheath.

Heidi Klum was a breath of fresh Summer air at the 2015 Creative Arts Emmy Awards in an Atelier Versace Fall 2015 Floral Print Lace Bustier Gown:

Her gown was paired with a floral headpiece and sky-high platform sandals on the Italian fashion house’s Fall 2015 Couture runway.

I loved this!

With “What Happened, Miss Simone?” making a major splash this Summer and the biopic on the iconic songstress starring Zoe Saldana and David Oyelowo set to be released this December, all eyes (and ears) are on Nina Simone. Not that we’ve ever lost interest in the musician, but her memory is resurfacing in a way that could be compared to her popularity in her heyday. Derek Lam was inspired by Simone’s strength for his Spring 2016 collection.

The influence was more figurative than literal, though Lineisy Montero’s afro and layers for the opening look of the assortment did seem to be a modern-day spin on Simone’s go-to ensembles. The effortlessness and ease of femininity was on the menu with relaxed open cardigans that tied at the neckline and sleeves, a functional suede trench that played on Lam’s love for the 70’s, simple frocks in the same aforementioned texture, and uncomplicated sailor-inspired trousers for a touch of nautical.

Spring isn’t typically the time for loads of rich textures, but why conform to fashion’s norms? Victorian lace, heathered fringe, and fur bags were all on display.

It doesn’t get warm in NYC until May, thus half of the season is still spent in layers for the ultimate in transitional dressing. Cozy knits were at play here with flounce sleeve cuffs, sweater dresses that grazed the models’ calves, and form-fitting woven sleeveless numbers layered over shirtdresses.

We surprisingly had not seen a ton of celebs in the brand this year, that is until Kylie Jenner wore a Derek Lam skirt just last week. The collection’s flowy gowns might be too covered for the young fashionista, but we’re certain other stars will flock to the designs before year’s end.

With New York Fashion Week in full swing, Rihanna is out and about bopping from event to event. While rumors about a relationship with rapper Travi$ Scott percolate, on Saturday night she hit up the 40/40 Club and Up and Down wearing a Rodarte Fall 2015 blue and orange sleeveless top and skirt.
From our research the look seems to be custom. While the poppy print is featured in the brand’s Fall 2015 runway presentation, we couldn’t find this exact look. Even online, Moda Operandi only has a wool blend dress featuring the print. You can pick up that for $2,760.
Dakota Johnson recently wore that option. Rihanna’s look was a sleeveless top and skirt combination likely of the same wool blend. She paired it with a wrist full of bangles and a ring adorned hand. A red lip and the now sold out Kate Spade Graceann Oversized Frame Ivory Sunglasses completed the look.
Definitely looks like a decent fit to us, though as a personal preference the dress was a better option.

Ashley Madekwe was yet another stylish star at Monique Lhuillier’s Spring 2016 Fashion Show. She was draped in a Resort 2016 Lime Textured Midi Dress:

The dress played centerstage in the brand’s Resort 2016 collection with minimal accessories. Ashley followed suit.

She’s killing it this NYFW.

Willie Nelson has inspired many musicians in his day and for Spring 2016, he served as the influence for one NYFW designer: that of Mara Hoffman. The crooner and songwriter’s tune “Blue Skies” flooded the venue with the backdrop taking the song title and lyrics quite literally: cumulus clouds covered the wild blue yonder and a wheat field in the background. The opening looks also echoed the sentiment: a menswear-inspired suit, button-front shirt, wide headband, and strappy sandals wrapped in clouds.

Hoffman usually looks outside to other cultures for inspiration, but she put her own spin on Americana for the season. Bird motifs were strewn across the hem of a wide-leg jumpsuit, stripes were quite psychedelic in vibrant colors, and the aforementioned classic pattern was undoubtedly bohemian on off-the-shoulder maxi dresses, bandeau tops, and high-waist full midi skirts.

Leaf prints on tie-front swim tops, relaxed shirts, and easy dresses felt like signature Hoffman, as did impossible-to-miss floral prints on functional, yet bold jumpsuits, and breezy frocks.

Hoffman riffed on the timeless collared, button-front shirt with head-turning colorful stripes, shirtdresses that were practical in silhouette yet adventurous in print, and suiting in blush pink and white.

The brand always has one of the most diverse runways each season and Hoffman did not disappoint this time around. From FBD favorite Ataui Deng to some new and beautiful faces, we were happy to see so much color on the catwalk: in every sense of the word.

At times, it seems Hoffman is perpetually rooted in the Resort mindset, with mini dresses, swimwear, and cover-ups in abundance. Thus, it was refreshing and unexpected to see so many suiting pieces including tailored overalls, high-waist trousers, and office-appropriate sets.

And it was only fitting to close the collection with star-accented designs. Sheer button-front tunics, effortless pants, and simple maxi dresses weren’t necessarily red carpet-worthy, but they surely were deserving of a few swipes of our credit cards.
