As we here in the States are getting prepared for the oncoming autumnal chill, Giambattista Valli is deep in the heart of Spring. From bold blue eyeshadow to gladiator sandals that cascaded to the upper calf with platform soles glistening with glitter, his Spring collection was an ode to all things pretty and youthful, with bare legs, chiffon, and ruffles to boot.
The stylish decades of the 60’s and 70’s were the influences with swing coats in flirty floral prints, expertly-tailored suiting, and collarless rocker chic jackets. A modern edge was injected with statement-making studs, eye-catching embellishment, and fierce strappy sandals.
The sheer dress trend made an appearance in bold hues and vibrant patterns with crystal adornment, embroidered cups, sophisticated neckties, and sultry keyholes. We’ll definitely see at least one or two of the gowns on display during awards season.
Was there anything rebellious or radical about what Valli offered up? Not quite, but is there anything wrong with lively and bold designs oozing with femininity? Not at all. The clothes emitted approachability, grace, and fun: the kind of looks you want not only for Spring, but in your wardrobe year-round.
Janelle Monae and her stylist Maeve Reilly are painting Paris black and white with a series of delectable threads! Yes, the chanteuse has been sticking to her signature noir et blanc color palette, but has been injecting her looks with lots of punch with prints, textures, and fun clutches.
Take a look:
One of my favorite ensembles was the Emanuel Ungaro polka dotted two piece she wore to the house’s show.
She accessorized with Nicholas Kirkwood polly petal ankle strap sandals and a Kotur clutch.
Lastly, for the Giambattista Valli show, she was styled in a swirl printed dress and coat from Valli’s Fall 2015 collection, topped off by $950 Sophia Webster Alessandra Feather Sandals.
That’s a load of lovely looks!
The polka dot prints were my favorite.
Which was yours?
Get a few of her accessories and items below:
I can’t wait for AHS: Hotel to premiere this week! One of the show’s stars, Angela Bassett, was totally fierce at the red carpet event in a $550 Theia Vegan Leather Cocktail Dress:
Her one-shoulder cocktail dress features an open back, vegan leather bodice, zibeline paneling, and a crepe skirt.
Her levels of flawlessness are permanently spiking.
If you’re up for the splurge, get Angela’s frock here.
Zendaya Coleman is taking PFW by storm! She was print-perfect at the Kenzo Spring 2016 Show in a Fall 2015 Printed Coat, Ruffle Accented Print Top, and Printed Trousers from the brand:
Her coat was shown with an equally-bold, ruffle-accented shirt, printed wrap skirt, and python booties on the runway.
Her trousers were paired with a cozy hat and patterned poncho.
Not a huge fan of her hair here, but the look was fab!
She says, “What inspires my style? For me personally it’s all about being comfortable.”
” If I can’t fit it I don’t wear it!”
” I’m not with todays trend of trying to look “sexy” by wearing less and showing more.”
“My body is a temple of God and I treat it that way!”
Preach! Your looks are bomb. Casual with a kick!

M.I.A. took in the Stella McCartney Spring 2016 Show in a $4,720 Ramona Faux Fur Coat and Fall 2014 White Faux Leather Perforated Creepers from the brand:
Her white faux fur shaggy coat features embroidered patches, hook fastenings, and side slit pockets.
Her creepers aren’t up for grabs, but you can shop similar styles from the brand below.
The black and blue polka-dot print one piece is cut from fluid silk and detailed with sheer black pinstriped sleeves and a contrasting purple leather waist-tie.
Lala wins this one for me! I love how she flipped the belt around to show the contrast leather, and the length works on her!

Whenever VOGUE throws a party, you know the who’s who of the fashion industry will show up and show out! The glamour was definitely on at the fashion bible’s 95th Anniversary Party.
Let’s see what the attendees wore!
Zendaya Coleman chose an artful LWD from Katherine Mavridis. This is my first time hearing of her designs and I’m certain this won’t be the last: she makes amazing pieces!
Rihanna stepped right out of her boudoir into the celebration, in Dior of course.
Kanye West and mother-in-law Kris Jenner were in attendance, though they appeared to be attending two different events. She went glam in a black off-the-shoulder gown and he was casual in a jersey-inspired top, destructed denim, and his own Yeezy kicks.
Zoe Kravitz literally walked off the Balenciaga runway to the affair, in the same gown she was draped in on the fashion house’s Spring 2016 catwalk. The dress is gorgeous and so is Zoe, but I would’ve loved simple ankle-strap sandals here.
Riley Montana looked every bit the supermodel in a long-sleeve lace-up Balmain LWD. Hot!
Liya Kebede showed some skin in a grey knit crop top and high-waist black patent leather skirt with a thigh-high slit. She never looks anything less than stunning.
Binx Walton continued Rih’s boudoir-ready vibe in a robe-inspired Alexander Wang tie-waist dress with black leather pointed-toe booties as anchors.
Lily Aldridge was gilded in a gold sequin Alexandre Vauthier mini dress.
Kendall Jenner added some texture to the affair in a strapless velvet LBD with a contrast white ruffle hem. I loved the length of this piece!
Izabel Goulart was the lady in red in a leather patent moto-inspired Alexandre Vauthier-inspired number.
Ines Rau kept it simple and chic in a black gown with a plunging neckline and thigh-high slit and a pop of color with red lips.
Well, Fashion Month is coming to a close, so it seems as though a few celebs may be slowly getting back into their grooves. From red carpet premieres to just hanging around town, a few of our favorite stars have been keeping up with the runways, while some went for more relaxed looks. Let’s see who topped our list! First up, is Nicki Minaj, who was snapped with a friend before partying the night away. The rap superstar rocked a black and white striped Balenciaga dress, a Chanel bag and nude Christian Louboutin heels. The play on meshing an athletic aesthetic with feminine accessories worked in her favor. Hot! And are you feeling her honey blond hair?
Next up is Marjorie Harvey, and yes, the lady does love couture! The fierce fashionista is constantly giving these 20-somethings a run for their money. She took a few photos before heading to the Céline show in Paris…wearing Celine of course. Not sure what the weather is like there, given the feathers and boots. But let’s be honest. Mrs. Harvey slays.
Speaking of slaying, get into Taraji P. Henson in this Leviticus dress. The leg, the lighting, the color…HOT!
Naomi Campbell was all legs in a killer, black Versace number as the supermodel/actress hit up the red carpet for the American Horror Story: Hotel premiere. I swear, Donnatella has never steered Miss Campbell wrong. HOT! Diamonds and black pumps tied her look together.
Joan Smalls was comfy and chic while up and down during Paris Fashion Week. A denim jacket, cropped tee and silk Givenchy trousers were on the menu for the supermodel. Cute look.
Adrienne Bailon shimmered at a Variety Latino event on the weekend. The Real talk show co-host channeled her inner flapper in a silk Parker top and Maje fringed skirt. Hot! And as always, her hair and makeup team deserve some sort of award. Beat!
Gabrielle Union kept it casual while snapping a selfie. She wore a black overcoat, denim shirt, black leather skirt and black slip on sneakers. Very cool transitional look, and the leopard print purse was a nice touch.
LeToya Luckett was also a fan of all things laid back before heading out. A fedora, Dior ‘So Real’ sunglasses, basic tee and an M2Malletier clutch were all she needed for an easy weekend ensemble.
And topping off this week’s edition is Eudoxie Bridges. The new mom was all smiles in a blue Diane von Furstenberg suit and Saint Laurent ‘Jane’ sandals. The color is DIVINE on her. Not to mention the fit of the suit was sized to perfection. Hot!
I think it’s safe to say that “can’t stop, won’t stop” is pretty much Diddy’s life mantra, isn’t it? This Summer, he announced a Bad Boy reunion tour and now he is working on not only two albums, but a new record label.
Today, Epic Records Chairman and CEO LA Reid announced an exclusive partnership with Mr. Combs which will bring forth two albums from the star. He’ll be commemorating the momentous event with a performance at the BET Hip Hop Awards this week in ATL. Of the partnership, Reid said, “Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs aka Puff Daddy and I have been musical collaborators since the 1990s, when we both ran independent record labels, myself with LaFace and soon after, Puffy with Bad Boy. Over the years, we not only enjoyed incredible success together, but we also became lifelong friends. Today, of course, Puffy is truly in a league all his own, continuing to influence culture and ignite musical revolutions time and time again. He’s a true innovator and I could not be more excited to join forces once again.”
And that’s not all! The deal also brings with it a new label between Bad Boy and Epic. Already on the agenda though quite hush-hush are new artist signings, music projects, and albums from Bad Boy’s already-impressive roster. We should hear about what’s to come before year’s end.
“I have known LA Reid since the very beginning and together we have enjoyed countless successes over our long friendship,” said Diddy. “To now work with LA in this capacity feels more like a homecoming than a new beginning. Not only is he a fearless and smart businessman, he believes in artists and understands music better than anyone. He embodies hard work and true success, evident in all of his endeavors. To collaborate with LA Reid is to collaborate with the very best.”
Exciting stuff no? I think everyone’s a fan of Diddy’s music at this point and his career as an entrepreneur and business man are an undeniable inspiration. Here’s to hoping he gets Dirty Money back together because I’d like another Last Train to Paris-caliber album!
