The fourth episode of Empire’s second season is going down in a little over an hour! To whet your appetite, we have some sneak peeks of what the characters will be serving up in the fashion department!
Cookie loves to go bold, thus it was no surprise to see her decked out in head-to-toe Moschino Resort 2016 red leather pieces with chain-link detailing.
Cookie stuck to the collection’s styling, adding in some blunt bangs for that signature Lyon edge.
Anika always keeps it very professional—well in the fashion department that is. She slipped on a $1,060 Roland Mouret White Betley Dress with a $1,295 Jimmy Choo Riley Leather and Suede Tote for the ultimate in office-ready attire.
Last, but not least is the Empire patriarch, Lucious Lyon who is forever draped in an expertly-tailored suit. One of his choices for the latest episode was a navy pairing from David August. The 2016 Met Gala theme has been announced!”Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology” is the subject matter for the forthcoming exhibition, aimed at showcasing the separation between handcrafted haute couture and factory-made designs. Serving as co-chair is none other than Idris Elba who will share the distinction with Sir Jonathan Paul Ive, KBE: a British designer and the Chief Design Officer of Apple Inc.
Of the theme, Costume Institute curator, Andrew Bolton stated, “Traditionally, the distinction between the haute couture and prêt-à-porter was based on the handmade and the machine-made”. He continued, “But recently this distinction has become increasingly blurred as both disciplines have embraced the practices and techniques of the other.”
On display will be more than 100 haute couture and ready-to-wear pieces—sometimes juxtaposed against one another for startling effect. Honorary co-chairs include Anna Wintour, Karl Lagerfeld, Nicolas Ghesquière, Miuccia Prada, and Taylor Swift. Apple is continuing their foray into the fashion industry by sponsoring the gala and exhibition.
