Tracee Ellis Ross did a mini photo shoot on her way to a Yahoo Style meeting in a printed strapless dress by Zero + Maria Cornejo:
The piece was modeled in the brand’s Fall 2015 show, and was modeled over a shirt and pants. Tracee kept the pants, but eschewed the shirt to show off her clavicles.
She embodies easy, breezy beauty. She’s hot!
What say you?
Balmain brought out the world’s biggest supermodels for the runway of its H&M collaboration—staged in the same empty space at 23 Wall Street where brands like Proenza Schouler have put on their catwalk presentations. There was an undeniable Nineties flair, from the Backstreet Boys performing their hit 1997 song “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” to the choker necklaces that looked like modern-day spins on something Nancy Downs would wear in The Craft.
To say that the marketing and promotion for the collaboration has been “epic” would be a gross understatement. From hitting the red carpet with two of his favorite supermodels in tow, to creating the #HMBALMAINNATION hashtag and encouraging fans to take pictures of their looks once they get their hands on the goods are just a couple of moves Olivier Rousteing has made. He did deliver with a collection that looked exactly like the runway designs he produces each season: sexy to the max.
All of the brand’s signatures were on display including pearl-embellished boxy blazers, silky harem pants, strong-shouldered blouses, extravagant buttons, and beading wherever possible. You can expect to see these looks on nights out for many a stylish woman in the world’s fashion capitals.
Die-hard fans of the fashion house who cannot afford its seasonal wares aren’t looking for something wholly original, but I think a bit of freshness and ingenuity would have pleased the fashion set for sure. At $649 for one of the assortment’s priciest frocks, many of us could wait for a sale to snag actual Balmain. But I suppose this fast fashion partnership isn’t meant to deter anyone from buying the brand in the first place.
At any rate, the collection radiates both the confidence and sophistication that is intrinsic to the core of Balmain. For women who want to look good and feel the same way just by slipping on a jacket or pair of boots, we’d say the long lines and impending website crashes will be worth enduring for this.
Set your calendars for November 5th, when you’ll be able to shop all of the above.
Empire is truly bringing the fashion this season, with all of the characters wearing the same high-fashion and contemporary brands donned by the world’s most stylish. The pieces chosen are complete reflections of each cast member’s personality and stylist Paolo Nieddu never strays from that: Cookie’s bold colors and animal prints demonstrate her eccentricity and ferocity, Tiana’s sultry ensembles express her rebellious nature and sensuality, pared-down knits and basics on Jussie make sense as he gives so most of his creativity to his art and not his wardrobe. It’s quite fascinating when you think about it!
Let’s see what the Empire cast is wearing tonight!
Tiana loves flaunting her enviable bod in designs with cutouts, sheer insets, exposed midriffs, and midi lengths. Her bold $352 Agent Provocateur Mazzy Swimsuit is not for the faint of heart…
… but will surely get heads turning on the sands of any beach.
Cookie always dons a slew of eye-catching looks each episode and she took it back a few seasons in a Fall 2014 flare dress from Dior, Kimberly McDonald earrings, and a Judith Leiber clutch. Her frock was paired with platform ankle-strap pumps and slicked-back hair on the runway.
The Empire matriarch was also pretty in pink in an Escada jacket, timeless white Wolford tank, colorful Kenneth Jay bangles, and a Jimmy Choo bag. I’d love to play in her closet!
Lastly, Nikki Reed and Lily Collins made for a lovely pair. I’m loving Lily’s dark berry lip!
That does it! Who had your favorite look from the event?

Vogue held a dinner after their CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Show, and Solange Knowles was in attendance!
She looked spiffy in a full look from 3.1 Phillip Lim’s Spring 2016 collection, namely their cropped anorak with open back and flare sleeves, gazar petal waistband shorts in light khaki, and the “Drum” open boots in lilac:
She grabbed a pic with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian West with a sparkling glass of Perrier-Jouët.
See the pieces on 3.1 Phillip Lim’s runway.
Talk about reinvigorating basics! A white top and khaki shorts was given an artful twist, perfect for a Fashion Fund event.
She works it!

Zendaya isn’t taking ish from anyone!
Yesterday, she took to Instagram to call out Modaliste Magazine for slimming down her hips and torso.
She wrote, “Had a new shoot come out today and was shocked when I found my 19 year old hips and torso quite manipulated. These are the things that make women self conscious, that create the unrealistic ideals of beauty that we have. Anyone who knows who I am knows I stand for honest and pure self love. So I took it upon myself to release the real pic (right side) and I love it?? Thank you @modelistemagazine for pulling down the images and fixing this retouch issue.” Seriously, can more young women be like Zendaya?
While pop stars of our generation totally shirk their ‘role model’ responsibilities, acting irresponsibly despite their huge popularity, Zendaya puts her foot down. Bold, bossy, brainy, she is a welcome dose of fresh air. I live for her!
You might find it hard to believe, but it’s difficult to find fashion focused artwork featuring women of color. As I’ve attempted to decorate my apartment (it’s a work in progress), I’ve struggled to find pieces that speak directly to me. So I was elated to learn about Mae B.
The Bombshell creates stationary, holiday cards, notebooks, and travel tags with illustrations of beautiful brown girls.
Though she doesn’t sell prints (yet), her pieces are certainly frame worthy.
Personalized stationary rings in at around $20; allow 3-5 business days for delivery.
I feel like it’s been for-ever since I’ve posted. But, I’m back today with another installment of our Bomb Blogger feature. So, let’s get into the sartorial musings by Clarissa Henry of Vintage Doll Risa!
Initially, I discovered Clarissa via Bloglovin’. She popped up under a “recommended” category and (out of curiosity) I took a quick detour to her blog. Only starting her blog back in April 2014, I was impressed with her sleek layout and stunning photos but it was her laid-back and street-savvy style that stole my heart.
Clarissa’s look is unique. I love the fact that she can rock a pair of Adidas shell-toes with feminine pieces while still incorporating a bit of personality into her ‘fit. This blogger’s wardrobe staples include athletic wear, sharp pops of color, amazing high-waisted trousers and endless sneakers. She’s a breath of fresh air, honestly.
Slay on, hun!
