Halloween is tomorrow–what are you dressing up as?
I’m helping my boo move out of his place, so I’ll be knee deep in boxes and packing tape (therefore, no dressing up for me, unless I go as some interpretation of a cardboard box!).
A lot of you have already sent me your submissions, including Charmsie, who kept her baby hairs and tutu on fleek for a costume as baby North West!
And my fellow media maven, Karen Civil, who looked absolutely gorgeous as Nefertiti.
I must see more!
Send your costumes to thebomblife@gmail.com; I’ll feature your flix on the site and Instagram come Monday.
Can’t wait!
Halloween is tomorrow and I have no idea what I am going to be! I’ve been toying around with the idea of being someone from the Empire cast: their stylish looks are perfect for any fashionista and can be recreated with things I already have in my wardrobe!
There’s no denying that Cookie steals pretty much every scene she’s in (thanks in large part to Taraji P. Henson) and quite frankly, she’s the perfect person to dress up as for the fun holiday. If you’re considering her like I am, then you’ll want to read these three tips from the hit TV’s show stylist, Paolo Nieddu for channeling your inner Cookie both inside and out this Saturday.
1. Wear an animal print or metallic dress.
“Cookie always looks flawless in a curve-hugging dress or pant suit in a fierce animal print”, says Nieddu and we agree! You might not opt for head-to-toe leopard for everyday, but Halloween is the perfect time to step out of your comfort zone and go bold like the Lyon matriarch. Pull all of the animal-patterned pieces from your wardrobe for the evening, or go snag yourself a new dress that you can wear later.
2. Load on the accessories.
“Cookie is never afraid to make a statement and what better way to do that than with hoops, rings, and bracelets— be bold and go gold!” Most wouldn’t expect it, but your nearest beauty supply store probably has some really fun gold costume jewelry that is affordable and will last at least a few nights out.
3. Top off your look with faux fur.
Cookie holds nothing back and what is more in-your-face than vibrantly-hued fur? Of Cookie’s love for all things cozy and decadent, Nieddu states, “It’s a classic, yet opulent touch that finishes even the most simple look with style”. It might be hard to find a fun fur for a great price as we get into Fall, so head to your nearest Goodwill store and thrift it up like Macklemore.
This NYTimes Editor slayed every single look and can give you further inspiration!
Robin Roberts and TJ Holmes also did Cookie and Lucious justice on Good Morning America.
The stars were out at the amfAR Inspiration Gala Los Angeles in printed gowns, expertly-tailored suits, sizzling lace numbers, embellished designs, and more.
Let’s get into their looks shall we?
Zendaya Coleman borrowed from the boys in a DSquared2 short suit. Hot!
Rocsi Diaz smoldered in a sheer green lace gown. She’s never looked better!
Angela Bassett brought a bit of Halloween flair to the evening in a black and white patterned Michael Costello gown, accented with a blunt bob and crystal half-mask.
The tailoring of Jay Ellis’s tux left a bit to be desired, but he was handsome nonetheless!
Liz Hernandez was pretty in pink in a strapless sweetheart slit dress.
A black star print Zuhair Murad embellished gown was Alessandra Ambrosio’s choice for the affair. I loved this sultry spin on the classic black gown.
Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson were hands down the best dressed couple of the evening. Her blush embroidered Carolina Herrera number was divine.
Gwyneth Paltrow was 70’s chic in a long-sleeve, button-accented Ralph & Russo Couture gown with a plunging neckline. She nailed this!
Lea Michele was the lady in red in a strapless number with an artful neckline.
I would’ve expected a sexy, sheer number from Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, but she kept it surprisingly demure in a black, full-skirted Saint Laurent gown.
Jaime King injected some rich hues into the evening in Balmain.
Last, but not least was Sharon Stone in a contrast lapel black suit with a sheer lace blouse layered underneath. Her style is impeccable!
November is just a few days away, but first Halloween: are you all dressing up this year? I haven’t landed on a look yet!
Celebs were definitely far from frightening this week, slipping on bold dresses, showstopping leather, expertly-tailored ensembles, and statement-making outerwear.
Let’s see what they wore!
Naomie Harris went bold at a Spectre Berlin event in a yellow Michael Kors dress and black triple-strap, peep-toe sandals. Hot! I cannot wait to see this movie.
While tending to her X-Factor UK duties, Rita Ora was the lady in red in a smoldering leather ensemble.
It was all about neutrals for Amber Stevens at the Rebecca Minkoff LA Flagship Opening in a long black sleeveless coat, simple beige tank, army green silky trousers, and beige mules.
Eva Longoria was also in red at The International Women’s Media Foundation Courage Awards, slipping on a flirty long-sleeve frock with a dainty bow-accented neck. Cute no?
An embellished black leather biker jacket and $395 Opening Ceremony Ruffled Jersey Mini Dress were Christina Milian’s choices while making an appearance at NBC Studios. I’ve loved her looks this week!
Closing out the week was Charlize Theron who shimmered and sparkled in Tom Ford at the Capitol Grand Launch Party in Hong Kong. This literally fit her like a glove.
So, Disclothesure just launched their Fall & Winter 2015 collection and I’m in love. With tons of fall must-haves (including flared suede pants and flowy silhouettes), there is no denying the slayage of this brand’s pieces. Disclothesure caters to both the trendy and classic fashionistas who also manage not to break the budget.
As I perused the playful images, I picked up on the use of longer hemlines, slight hints of skin, colorful prints and breathtaking statement necklaces. And, you gotta admit, the styling is impeccable! Many of the pieces are quite versatile and can be rocked in a plethora of ways.
This boutique definitely falls within the affordable range with pieces ranging from $18 to $89. You just can’t go wrong! For additional purchasing details, visit the official Disclothesure site here.
What do you think of Disclothesure’s Fall/Winter 2015 collection?
I’m loving everything! And, that fringed blazer is bomb!
