It was all about stripes for Gwen Stefani at the UCLA Neurosurgery Visionary Ball. The superstar slipped on a Reem Acra Spring 2016 Striped Halter Mini Dress for the evening:
Gwen eschewed the runway’s headband and added in sheer hosiery for a Fall-perfect accent.
This was a bit sexier than we’re used to seeing Gwen dress and I loved that! The frock doesn’t feel very much like Reem Acra…it isn’t my cup of tea.
First up, we have singer/actress Brandy! The pop icon attended the The Paley Center’s Hollywood Tribute to African-Americans in Television while uplifting an embellished number by Elisabetta Franchi. Her ‘fit boasts a wrap effect and a clean silhouette. This is perfection! Everything – from the silver box clutch to her cobalt blue pumps. Go girl!
Last night, Hollywood’s finest showed up and showed out for the amfAR Inspiration Gala in Los Angeles. The scene sizzled with flawless makeup, eye-catching designer duds and flashy smiles. But, it was style maven Zendaya who stole the show! The 19-year old starlet took a hint from the boys and donned a black DSquared2 short suit. She paired her menswear look with strappy sandals and oversized, statement earrings. She’s gorgeous, no?
Queen Angela Bassett was also on-hand for the amfAr Inspiration Gala. The stunning actress looked every bit of radiant in a plunging, black and white gown by Michael Costello. She also flaunted a crystal half-mask and a beasty bob. And, um, can we get into those arms?! Lawwwd – I got one word for this: GOALS!
Balmain is everywhere nowadays, right (hey, Olivier)?! With that said, a glowing (and expectant) Chrissy Teigen was spotted out and about for dinner in a striped stretch-knit jacket and matching skirt by the brand. She accented her look with a simple black top and a black clutch. Hot!
Solange Knowles hit the H&M red carpet in Sydney, Australia while wearing their own gold buttoned blazer. The closet staple uplifts a plunging neckline and a tailored silhouette. The fashionista also slipped into a pair of black Schutz Juliana sandals. I can dig this – minimal yet effective.
Actress Naomie Harris looked edgy but chic at the Berlin premiere of Spectre in an astrology-inspired gown by Valentino. Her dress showcases jaw-dropping embroidery, a sheer effect and an “out-of-this-world” print. Gold sandals and berry beauty accents completed her look. Yes!
Naomie Harris was a ray of sunshine at the Spectre Moscow Photocall in an Altuzarra Resort 2016 Yellow Slit Skirt Suit and $533 Sophia Webster Nicole Camo Sandals:
Her suit was paired with strappy black sandals and a white shoulder bag in the brand’s Resort 2016 collection.
Her neon pink patent leather sandals feature camo print back panels and stiletto heels and neon orange patent leather wraparound buckled ankle straps.
Happy Friday!
So we have part 2 of our NYFW Let’s Go Places with Claire video, sponsored by Toyota and Lexus!
The viddy covers day 3 of NYFW, where I was honored with a Fashion Innovator award by Sheen Magazine! While at the brunch, I took a moment to interview Quad of Married to Medicine about style and reality TV. She said, “Don’t get caught up in being a reality star. I know where my celebrity has come from, but who just wants to be a reality star? We have to take that idea and maximize your potential, and become a brand. Build your own empire.”
After the brunch, I popped by LaQuan Smith’s presentation! I chatted with Christina Milian about her upcoming projects, and even had her give us a preview of her new song.
We’re ending this week with bright ray of sunshine, Tope from Charleston, South Carolina:
She says, “I am of Nigerian descent, from a big city and currently living in the south, working as an attorney.”
” My style is sophisticated, but funky with cultural influences.”
” I love pieces that I can take from day to night and I’ve never met a print I didn’t like!”
“I started a site with my Bangladeshi friend, Sarah Faroqi, www.somethingwithspice.tumblr.com, IG @somethingwithspice because as black and brown girls, we don’t see enough representation of style, grace, class and funky fashion from people who look like us.”

It’s hard out there for a working mom! Laura Govan displayed as much in a recent Instagram photo, where she cooked, helped her kids with homework, and more in a button down shirt, sky high Christian Louboutin pumps, and the same Opening Ceremony Terazzo Print Skirt she wore to Karen Civil’s Empowerment Brunch last November.
Ready for our Friday Fashion Bomber? Take a look at Richard from Maryland:
He says, “I am from Prince Georges County, Maryland.”
” A more notable term for the area would be “the DMV”.”
” My style is either casual or street.”
” I usually try to incorporate one with the other.”
Yassss! Represent for the DMV!
See more @reichr0.

Halloween is tomorrow–what are you dressing up as?
I’m helping my boo move out of his place, so I’ll be knee deep in boxes and packing tape (therefore, no dressing up for me, unless I go as some interpretation of a cardboard box!).
A lot of you have already sent me your submissions, including Charmsie, who kept her baby hairs and tutu on fleek for a costume as baby North West!
And my fellow media maven, Karen Civil, who looked absolutely gorgeous as Nefertiti.
I must see more!
Send your costumes to thebomblife@gmail.com; I’ll feature your flix on the site and Instagram come Monday.
Can’t wait!
Halloween is tomorrow and I have no idea what I am going to be! I’ve been toying around with the idea of being someone from the Empire cast: their stylish looks are perfect for any fashionista and can be recreated with things I already have in my wardrobe!
There’s no denying that Cookie steals pretty much every scene she’s in (thanks in large part to Taraji P. Henson) and quite frankly, she’s the perfect person to dress up as for the fun holiday. If you’re considering her like I am, then you’ll want to read these three tips from the hit TV’s show stylist, Paolo Nieddu for channeling your inner Cookie both inside and out this Saturday.
1. Wear an animal print or metallic dress.
“Cookie always looks flawless in a curve-hugging dress or pant suit in a fierce animal print”, says Nieddu and we agree! You might not opt for head-to-toe leopard for everyday, but Halloween is the perfect time to step out of your comfort zone and go bold like the Lyon matriarch. Pull all of the animal-patterned pieces from your wardrobe for the evening, or go snag yourself a new dress that you can wear later.
2. Load on the accessories.
“Cookie is never afraid to make a statement and what better way to do that than with hoops, rings, and bracelets— be bold and go gold!” Most wouldn’t expect it, but your nearest beauty supply store probably has some really fun gold costume jewelry that is affordable and will last at least a few nights out.
3. Top off your look with faux fur.
Cookie holds nothing back and what is more in-your-face than vibrantly-hued fur? Of Cookie’s love for all things cozy and decadent, Nieddu states, “It’s a classic, yet opulent touch that finishes even the most simple look with style”. It might be hard to find a fun fur for a great price as we get into Fall, so head to your nearest Goodwill store and thrift it up like Macklemore.
This NYTimes Editor slayed every single look and can give you further inspiration!
Robin Roberts and TJ Holmes also did Cookie and Lucious justice on Good Morning America.
