Hey ya’ll!
I’m short on time, lol. So, let’s get into some of our favorite celebrity looks from the past week!
1) Teyonah Parris in Cynthia Rowley

Teyonah Parris was on-hand for the 25th IFP Gotham Independent Film Awards while rocking a fall-ready gown by Cynthia Rowley. The actress’s garnet and amethyst stunner boasts an off-the-shoulder neckline, detailed embroidery and a high-low hem. To pop things off a bit, she also donned a pair of edgy Marchesa cutout booties. Hot!
2) Chrissy Teigen in Julien Macdonald

Mommy-to-be Chrissy Teigen, hubby John Legend and Alicia Keys were all smiles at the Sinatra 100 concert! But, it was the glowing model who truly stole the show. She uplifted an eye-catching gold number by Julien Macdonald which features intricate embellishment, long sleeves and a fitted silhouette. I’m loving Chrissy’s maternity style, aren’t you?!
3) Naomie Harris in Alexander McQueen

Actress Naomie Harris was an absolute vision as she slayed in a strapless floral embroidered dress by Alexander McQueen. Previously showcased in the designer’s Resort 2016 collection, this look certainly makes me want to invest in a few nature-inspired pieces. I mean, she just pulls it off so effortlessly!
4) Kylie Jenner in Olcay Gulsen/Sass + Bide

Whelp! If you’ve been living under rock for the past week, you’re probably not aware about Kylie Jenner’s beauty endeavors. Let me break it down: she basically sold out an entire collection of 3 signature lip colors in a matter of minutes! Impressive, eh? The style maven attended a launch for her lip kits rocking a Olcay Gulsen wool long tail coat and a Sass + Bide bra while keeping the monochromatic vibes fresh. Are we feelin’ the hair?
5) Zendaya in The 2nd Skin Co.

Yes! Zendaya Coleman rocked the red carpet at the Ebony Power 100 Gala in patchwork silk jumpsuit by The 2nd Skin Co. The Fall 2015 piece was accented by a waist-cinching belt, soft curls and flawless makeup. This girl is on fire! (And, be sure to check out her banging Complex magazine spread!)
6) LaLa Anthony in Tom Ford

Last up, we have Mrs. LaLa Anthony! The reality starlet/television personality shut it down in a rose gold sequin dress by Tom Ford. As soon as we posted this look on Instagram, our followers went cray cray! Her sultry ‘fit includes tons of embellishment, crepe fringing at the cuffs and loads of attitude. Another day, another slay!

We’re closing out this week with @TheThriftingTeacher aka Pashen from Philly:
She writes, “As my Intagram name states, I am a public school teacher in/from Philadelphia, PA who has a passion for finding vintage pieces, preferably dresses, in thrift stores.”
“I’ve admired your work from afar for a few years, but subconsciously felt inferior because my clothes came from a thrift store and not a fabulous boutique.”
” In addition, in the past there was a negative connotation associated with shopping in thrift stores.”
” Yes, I shop in thrift stores. No, I’m not poor. Well, needless to say those days are over and those thoughts have vanished.”
” I want to show the world you can be just as fashionable thrifting.”
” Why pay retail when you can thrift!!!!”
“There are great finds just waiting for you at your local thrift store!”
“All of the looks below (excluding my shoes) were $20.00 or less….much less. Lol.”

You look great! Thrifting is a gift and you’ve certainly got an eye!

No matter how much any of us love a full beat face of makeup, there is one thing more important: our skin. Whether you have dry, combination, or just downright stubborn oily skin (raises hand), it is vital to adopt a beauty routine of products to help your skin in the changing weather. With winter weather harshness quickly sneaking up on us, I’m going to share a few beauty products and tips to those of us more prone to oily skin. Don’t worry dry and combination skinned love ones, we will get you covered too.

1. You must moisturize. Don’t give me the “My skin produces enough oil” story, because it doesn’t work. Even us oily-skinned guys and gals have to moisturize after washing our faces, and the secret is this: when you replenish the oils into your skin by moisturizing, your skin doesn’t send the signal to produce more oils. And with winter-time wind and air, you will want moisturized skin. My favorite (and budget-friendly) is Cetaphil, a cult-classic that has thick and thin formulas. In the spring/summer I opt for the lighter formula, while dry weather like fall/winter deserve a heavier cream. Just make sure to throw on a light sunscreen!

2. You must cleanse properly. Don’t strip your skin by depleting it of all its nutrients. Your cleanser is vital because after a long day of being outside (hello, pollution) and wearing makeup on your face, you need to extract all of that junk out of your pores. My favorite cleanser remains the Tea Tree Facial Wash from The Body Shop. It’s light-weight, it smells good, and it leaves my skin tingly clean without stripping it of all its moisture.

3. Green Tea. This is a strange beauty product, but I promise you it helps. Green tea has long been used for its anti-inflammatory responses, and it also possesses a lot of antioxidants that help fight damaging free radicals (i.e. the pollution in the air that’s attaching itself to your skin). While there are a ton of products out there that have green tea as an ingredient, I just like to brew a huge cup in the morning and in the afternoon to stay internally hydrated, fight off my caffeine addiction, and use the antiflammatory resources when my skin wants to turn red from all the weather changes. And yes, opt in for honey instead of sugar.

4. Vitamin C. Yes, Vitamin C comes in tablets, folks, and I honestly suggest if you are a person with some pigment in your skin, you grab a bottle now. With the changes in the weather and sun exposure, many of us are not outside as often and picking up natural sunlight that has, you guessed it, the nutrients we need for our melanin. You might think, so what? So I lighten up a little, big deal. Actually it can cause health issues such as fatigue, increased thyroid problems, and a bunch of other health issues that can be alleviated if you simply take some Vitamin C tablets to make sure your body is getting everything it deserves.
5. Exfoliate. While you should never exfoliate too often lest you irritate the skin, everyone should exfoliate every so often to remove the top layer of skin cells, allowing a new layer to come up healthy. Exfoliating is also an amazing tool when recovering from acne scarring and hyper pigmentation, but even us oily ones need to exfoliate. Removing the dead layer of skin also allows your next layer to appear brighter, which also tackles the dull skin dilemma we hit around wintertime. I use the St. Ives Apricot Scrub, another cult classic that sits well in the budget range. Some have said they find this scrub too abrasive, in which case I use my hands to lightly massage it into my skin instead of using a tool like a Clarisonic.

6. Put down the setting powder. While I know we’re all trying to get that Kim K makeup-set look, that powder is severely drying your skin out with the air lacking moisture. Say goodbye to your Banana Powder and work to get that moisture back into your skin after you’ve done your makeup. A setting spray works just as well, and many of them include nutrients in them that are good for the skin as well as beneficial to your skin’s dryness. On a tight budget, the Elf Makeup Mist and Set truly delivers without doing too much extra to the skin. Almost like you quickly just drank eight glasses of water. Ya’ll, this thing is like…three dollars. You can’t beat that.
Now of course, these are only the basics to a good beauty routine for those out there with oily skin. You should check out retinols, serums and face masks, as well as switch out your normally mattifying foundation for probably something with more of a dewy or satin finish. Don’t get the winter blues when trying to figure out your skin; it merely takes a little bit of thinking outside your beauty box.

It was back in 1972 that producer Ken Harper came up with an idea for an all-black musical version of “The Wizard of Oz,” titled, “The Wiz”. The project started off as a musical before hitting the silver screen–we all sat transfixed as Diana Ross shined as Dorothy and as Michael Jackson danced to “Ease on Down the Road,” as the Scarecrow.
Fast Forward 43 years later, and NBC took on the project with a 3-hour live event production of, arguably, one of the greatest Black renditions in history. With an all star cast celebs including Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige, Common and David Alan Grier, we couldn’t help but also share excitement to new additions to the team, including: Uzo Aduba (Crazy from Orange is the New Black) starring as Glinda, Amber Riley (Glee) playing Addaperle, crooner Neyo playing Tin Man, and of course, the new girl in town Shanice Williams playing Dorothy.
Nuanced in its own way, this “The Wiz” was clearly different from it older sibling, boasting more contemporary outfits and vocabulary (does anyone else remember when the Tin Man said he would Molly wop anyone to protect Dorothy?). Brought to the 21st century viewer, it was a refreshing and unique take on the classic musical, with new songs and background dancers to convey strange concepts (the wind who blew Dorothy away, those seductive flowers, etc.)

Other than the amazing vocals and stellar performances truly reminiscent of Broadway theatre, nobody could deny the high fashion outfits that completely SLAYED our entire existence. In previous interviews, Tony-nominated costume designer Paul Tazewell had said “[they] were creating a fantasy land that also is inspired by some of the imagery you’d see today…It’s the edgiest of high-fashion from now but in the world of the Emerald City.”

Dorothy hung up her checkered frock for a more inner-city look of a leather jacket, black belted skirt, and a much more “contemporary Kansas“.

The Tin-man had a dapper leather look in his patchwork made to resemble metal.

The amazing Scarecrow with his fierce dance moves looked much more hipster-chic than his previous successors, achieving what Tazewell names as “hip-reminiscent of Basquiat character.”

Our favorite lion gave us full blonde-highlights with accented dread locs throughout, truly embodying the mane of a Lion in the jungle. Roar!

King Common became our favorite bouncer of the night in an all-green ensemble with amazing emerald gloves (hello, Christmas list) and spiked bedazzlements embellishing his green coat.

Who knew a witch could look so good? 50 Shades of Blue definitely was the inspiration behind Amber Riley’s Addaperle costume, with a very avant garde aesthetic from her hair to her outfit.

The good witch also gave us a good wardrobe of stunning golds, extra fabric sprawled across the front and a flowing gown to make each one of us feel like a Queen.

Unlike the Wiz, there was nothing to hide in this amazing Green frock for the all-knowing, all-powerful Wizard of Oz. Of course Queen Latifah brought her A game with a floor-length kimono-esque green coat, jeweled and sparkled with all the magic that the Wiz should have. Plus this grey hair with wisps of green? Next hair trend.

While her life was short lived on the show, Evilene, the evil witch, had a costume that married punk rock with prom night. Everything from the sequined trousers under knee length boots, to a boastful purple skirt that flared to a caged corset style top. Everything. Yes.

I hope everyone was able to catch the show but if not, keep your eyes out as NBC will be doing reruns soon.
So let us at Fashion Bomb Daily know, who was your favorite character? Who had the coolest outfit?

First Lady Michelle Obama previewed the 2015 holiday decor at the White House in a Michael Kors olive damask jacquard dress. FLOTUS is always on point!

A slinky black gown from her own line was Victoria’s Beckham’s choice at The Global Gift Gala. She’s truly the best brand ambassador out there.

Sharon Carpenter stuck to neutrals at the Chi-Raq NY Premiere in a long-sleeve keyhole blouse, bandage skirt, and lace pumps.

While exiting the X-Factor UK studios, Rochelle Humes looked Fall-perfect in an army green sleeveless coat, leather moto leggings, and embellished booties. Her style is impeccable!

Rita Ora celebrated her 25th birthday in an apropos crown, printed coat, graphic t-shirt, black leggings, and black lace-up boots.

A red long-sleeve frock with scallop trim, black sheer hosiery, and peep-toe booties made up Mariah Carey’s look at a Christmas book event in NYC. Wasn’t too keen on the shoe choice here, but I loved everything else from the knees-up!

Lupita Nyong’o went bold while making an appearance at SiriusXM Studios in a black leather jacket, yellow cutout back dress, and Christian Louboutin pumps. It’s been a flawless Fall for Lupita.

At the 2015 Hollywood Christmas Parade, Kat Graham shimmered and sparkled in a green glitter gown.

Jessica Alba left a birthday party in West Hollywood in a camel coat, her favorite Tory Burch crossbody bag, black washed skinnies, and grey suede booties.

A curve-hugging LBD and Jimmy Choo Abel Lace Pumps were flawlessly executed on Jennifer Lopez for a date night at Madeo’s in Beverly Hills. Hot! As usual.

Jamie Chung continuously demonstrates that dog walking can be a stylish activity. This time around, she sported a burgundy knit, wine-hued trousers, a black leather backpack, and black patent brogues.

Ilfenesh Hadera is another beauty starring in Chi-Raq! She was on-trend at the film’s NY Premiere in a black duster, gold metallic mini dress, and thigh-high boots. I need to see more of her out and about.

Halle Berry got in some Christmas Shopping in Beverly Hills, wearing all-gray and destructed denim.

At the 2015 Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women of the Year Awards across the pond in London, Fleur East couldn’t be missed in a yellow expertly-tailored suit. Cute no?

Closing out the week was Alicia Quarles at the 2015 UNICEF Snowflake Ball in a long-sleeve silver sequin turtleneck gown.
