So I’m in Lagos, Nigeria!!
The kind folks at DZRPT Fashion brought Pierre and I over to visit boutiques, fabric markets, and learn more about the Nigerian Fashion Industry!
We flew in yesterday on Arik Air, and they lost my bag. They still haven’t found it. I want to cry.
Thankfully my girl Kanayo is in town, and has been finding me clothes to wear until Arik locates my rogue suitcase. For a night out, I wore a printed set by Eve & Tribe, a Nigerian brand with affordable separates. Some neon fuzzy sandals, and I was good to go!
I’m currently recovering from a night of too much champagne (!), but once I get rested again, I’ll be updating this site and TheBombLife.com with pix of my stylish Nigerian finds. I can’t wait!
So far, so great, however (minus the bag situation). Everyone is really welcoming, and the food is banging (I already love Joloff rice and peppered snails).
Stay tuned for more from Lasgidi!

*Thanks to Kunbi, Kanayo, and the folks at Shop Meidei for the threads.
*In the meantime does anyone have an ‘in’ at Arik Air? I really would love my bag back:)
I’m currently taking in the smells and sounds of my local Starbucks while indulging in a tall Cinnamon Dulce Latte. It feels pretty good to take some time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, ya know? So, without further ado, let’s get into some of our favorite celebrity looks!
Sportsperson of the Year Serena Williams was on hand for the annual Sports Illustrated ceremony while uplifting a sheer black lace number from her very own collection featuring designer Aaron Gray. Her sultry ‘fit boasts an impressive amount of skin and perfectly showcases her chiseled arms. Gosh, she’s stunning!
Actress Lupita Nyong’o served up all kinds of fierceness as she graced the red carpet for the Los Angeles premiere of her new sci-fi film StarWars:EpisodeVII – TheForceAwakens. The gorgeous fashionista (literally) shimmered in a floor-length Alexandre Vauthier Spring 2015 sequin cutout gown. She also donned bold reddish-orange lips and a pair of eye-catching earrings. I love this look – very futuristic, no?
So, Mariah Carey is back on the radar! The iconic vocalist was spotted out and about in NYC in a yellow and black floral number by Roberto Cavalli. Her dress also features a low-cut neckline, a fitted silhouette and long sleeves. As we all know, MiMi never strays too far from her heels – in this case, she slipped into a pair of black peep toe platforms. Hot!
Electric Lady Janelle Monae flaunted her toned abs as she rocked the cameras at the Los Angeles premiere of StarWars:EpisodeVII–TheForceAwakens. Our girl uplifted a metallic-embroidered dress by Erevos Aether and she set the look off even further with a gold strappy sandals. With double arm cuffs and an epic braided coif, Ms. Monae definitely delivered. Werk!
Solange loves some Rosie Assoulin! In the past, we’ve seen Solo rock a few pieces from this brilliant designer and she never ceases to amaze us. Well, in this week’s highlight, the style maven oozed chic sophistication as she rocked a white silk faille top and green wide leg culottes. Now, in my opinion, this was a risky outfit – I mean, with the heavy flares and the statement draping – others would be swimming in fabric but Solange effortlessly slayed. Yes!

What do you think?
Whew! This year has been quite the whirlwind, no? We’ve seen the emergence of some amazing up-and-coming models as well as witnessed the ongoing reign of others but, one thing remains clear – 2015 was lit!
The ModeloftheYear category consists of women who took the fashion world by storm. From endless campaigns to their impressive runway performances, each of these nominees has proven that the title “model” entails more than just a pretty face.
1) Kendall Jenner
Say what you want about the Kardashian-Jenner clan but let’s state facts – they were an evident fixture within social and entertainment media throughout the entirety of 2015. Yes, Khloe launched her book and Kylie smized on the ‘Gram but it was Kendall Jenner who consistently slayed in the fashion world.
The 20-year old phenom landed some of the biggest fashion campaigns this year including the highly-anticipated Balmain x H&M collection and Estee Lauder’s Modern Muse Rouge deal. Aside from branding her famous face, Kendall also took to the runways where she walked for some iconic designers including Chanel, Elie Saab, Michael Kors, Givenchy and Diane von Furstenberg.
In addition, Kendall’s classically chic street style has even garnered her sartorial praise on nearly every fashion blog. There’s just no denying that this girl is everywhere. Can’t wait to see what she has in store for 2016!
2) Lineisy Montero
I’m a HUGE fan of our next nominee! I literally fell in love with her from the first time I spotted her on that memorable August 2015 cover of Teen Vogue (alongside Imaan Hammam and Aya Jones). Dubbed ‘FashionMonth’sMostPopularModel‘ by Harper’s Bazaar, Lineisy Montero conquered the hearts of millions in a single stride. In total, the Dominican Republic native graced the runway 68 times.
With snagging opening spots for Derek Lam and Jason Wu, the natural-haired siren also solidified contributed as the face of Prada’s Fall ad campaign. Her effortless beauty is what truly make Lineisy a class act. It’s evident that she works hard and looks flawless all while maintaining a cool vibe.
Oh, and let’s not forget this spread by Nico Bustos for Vogue Spain! Lovedit!
3) Gigi Hadid
Next up, we have Miss Gigi Hadid! As one of Kendall Jenner’s gal pals, this fashionista definitely made waves in 2015. No matter where you turned – this chick was in heavy rotation. Earlier this year, Gigi was named Maybelline’s brand ambassdor and she even made her debut in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
She’s also walked for some of fashion’s brightest stars including Balmain, Max Mara, Marc Jacobs and Jean Paul Gaultier. Gigi was also a face for the mind-numbing Balmain x H&M campaign. From the pages of Vogue to the streets of New York, she set the ‘net on fire!
Check out more of her work below!
4) Jourdan Dunn
So, Jourdan Dunn has already been coined the “Model of the Year” by the British Fashion Awards. Pretty impressive, huh? Aside from her epic win, Jourdan has managed to continually rise as one of fashion’s hottest models.
The 25-year old stunner has worked on some dope projects and she was even British Vogue’s first black cover model in 12 years! She’s also worked alongside Naomi Campbell in joint campaign for Burberry’s eyewear line.
Go, Jourdan!
5) Naomi Campbell
To round things out, we have a Queen Naomi! Now, regardless of how long she’s been in the game, home girl is STILL killin’ it. She’s rocked countless red carpets, flaunted it all for La Perla and even shut it down at Jean Paul Gaultier’s Paris Haute Couture show.
Naomi Campbell just consistently proves that age ain’t nothin but a number! And, I’m here for it all. And, if that isn’t worthy of ModeloftheYear, I don’t know what is.
The competition’s getting pretty fierce as we start closing out the year with nominations for Fashion Bombshell of the year. This week we finish off with Ashley from Atlanta, whose definitely serving some looks. Will our Bombshell Ashley take the crown? Check her out below:
Unfortunately, she didn’t include a description of her outfits, but did let us know she is a Stylist in ATL.
Hot! She is definitely serving some ATL heat with these outfits. I’m going to need those white pants, sequin top and green&cream fur stole! Yass hunty!
What do you guys think? Is Ashley worthy of a nomination for Fashion Bombshell of the Year?

*I met the owner of Cupcake Mafia, Mary “Skittlez” Seats at a recent event, and she is a Bomb Entrepreneur. She gifted me her autobiography, The Icing On Top Ain’t Always As Sweet, and I read it while on a recent plane ride.
Skittlez overcame loads of adversity to build her Cupcake Mafia brand, and battled homelessness, death, and violence to rise to the top. It’s a great read. Purchase here. See the trailer here:
We’re unleashing our Bombshell and Bomber of the Year next week! But until then, we can reminisce with a few repeat submissions. Check out David from Boston, who was first featured this February:
He says, “My name is David Lowe and I am a senior at Boston University. I am from Georgia but currently attend school in Boston.”
“I love to play around with the proportions and standards of classic menswear pieces.”
” For example I love stand out pieces like a bright orange trench coat. In a nutshell I am combination of classic menswear style with peacock tendencies.”
“Attached are 7 pictures that give a range of my style from sartorial to streetwear.”
“I hope these pictures fit the description that would qualify me to be placed in the running as a fashion bomber. I was fortunate enough to be featured in the past in the a winter inspired post. Hopefully these new pictures show another angle of my style.”
“Thank you for your blog and giving me the fashion news that I love. My instagram name is doublelowe7.”
Hot! Love that orange trench coat.

Both ladies paired the frock with silver pointed-toe pumps.
The white cady and crocheted lace dress is from the brand’s Fall collection, featuring silver pinball-inspired hardware, a belted waist, long sleeves, and pink pastel floral embroidery.
Olivia won this one for me, though the Queen definitely gets a round of applause for her bold choice!
