Lupita Nyong’o was snapped while en route to her appearance for the Today Show. The Academy Award winning actress stopped by to talk about her lead role in Danai Gurira’s Broadway production, Eclipsed, and looked stunning while doing so.
The beauty splurged on a $1,649 (originally priced at $5,495) rose quartz Escada ‘Cardonay’ coat. With a minimalist silhouette and wide lapels, being able to cinch it at the waist offset such a prominent element. Not to mention, it’s in one of Pantone’s colors of the year.
Penelope Cruz certainly made a few women green with envy at the Zoolander No. 2 Berlin Fan Screening in a Balmain Spring 2016 Green Suede Lace Up Dress:
Joan Smalls wore her dress on the runway, which was paired with a sleek ponytail, statement-making earrings, and black cutout sandals.
Pop starlet Ariana Grande has been dubbed the new face of the British women’s line Lipsy! The 22-year old actress/singer is also set to debut her own Spring collection on March 2nd. According to WWD, this is the performer’s first break into fashion.
Grande’s 20-piece collection will include a variety of seasonal essentials including skirt sets, party dresses and loads of accessories.
And, the price points aren’t too heavy either – the pieces start at $46. In addition, the collection will be sold online via the official Lipsy website.
Although this is her inaugural fashion partnership, this isn’t her first time teaming up with another influential brand. Late last year, the beauty also collaborated with MAC Cosmetics for their Viva La Glam Campaign. I’m sure 2016 will be an amazing year for this young woman.
Go girl!
Will you indulging in Ariana’s new fashion venture?
Who ever thought High-Fashion and apps would ever mesh?
Well, it seems the worlds are colliding, with Creative Director of Balmain, Olivier Rousteing, designing all-new looks exclusively for Kim Kardashian’s famous mobile game, “Kim Kardashian: Hollywood.”
Understand these are not pieces that have already been in past collections of Balmain; while there may be a few pieces from the previous season’s collection, Rousteing creates brand-new pieces exclusively for the site, according to a report from WWD.
If you want your digital styleitte to wear these pieces by the covetable powerhouse, you can pay an actual monetary price or trade in your K-stars: for example, some pieces include a fringed handbag and pair of earrings, which can cost you $14.99, or if you’re an avid KKH gamer, 105 K-stars.
While some people may think a fashion designer’s collaboration with an app is silly or superfluous, it seems the numbers are in favor of Rousteing: within Balmain’s first month of participation in “Kim Kardashian: Hollywood,” WWD reports that 200,000 players “owned” a piece from the French fashion house and 2.2 million players visited the label’s official website. So even if people aren’t owning the real thing, the name and brand are definitely circulating to all of Kim Kardashian’s passionate and avid followers.
What do you think of Creative Director’s partnering with apps and online gaming to promote their products? Is it, in fact, silly, or a new marketing tool more powerhouses should utilize?
Nowadays it seems all eyes are on Taraji P. Henson, and with good reason, too. The Howard alum actress is literally everywhere: starring in the hit TV show Empire, grabbing covers left and right for magazines, and of course, her phenomenal win at the Academy Awards.Over the years, we’ve come to see Taraji’s beauty evolution as well (because we will never forget Baby Boy), dedicating time and energy to distinguish what she likes and wears versus some of her characters (like Cookie, whose always for a strong lip AND eye).Taraji has her personal beauty look down to a science: you’ll always catch her with her dewy skin, arched eyebrows, and a daytime smokey eye. She’ll finish her look off with fluttery eyelashes, a subtle bronze/contour and of course, a nude lip.Every once in a while she may spice up her look by adding a different color on her lips or even experimenting with her lashes (Taraji has vocally expressed her love of faux lashes!), however at the end of the day, she knows what works for her and what to stick with. And why not? Many people pay a lot of money to have the glowing skin of Ms. Henson. In fact, Taraji’s dewy skin is so noticeable that she’s an official spokensperson for Jergens and their skin care line. All we know is we need to use whatever Taraji uses. Her effortless beauty definitely teaches us the biggest lesson of all: great beauty starts with great skin! She’s definitely our Beauty Crush, is she yours?

Well, in shoes news, master mind Riccardo Tisci is set to launch yet another collaboration with Nike…
Back in 2014, Tisci joined forces with Nike in a partnership that re-worked the brand’s classic Air Force 1. The sneaker’s popularity was evident on social media and international street style blogs everywhere.
If you recall, Ciara loved the designer’s last kicks!
“The Nike Dunk has a fascinating legacy. It has been both mainstream and niche, adopted by communities of varying size and influence. But no matter the model, the Dunk has always had a cultural cachet that, as a designer, I’m quite drawn to.”
The Nike Dunk Lux High x RT boasts a full-grain leather upper, memory foam and a quilted collar and tongue. The shoe also features embellished proportions, foxing and eyestay. Perfect for those individuals who love to fuse comfort with designer appeal! They drop on February 11th.
Yes! There’s no word on the prices but I’ll definitely keep you guys posted.
What do you think of Tisci’s take on the Nike Dunk?
Happy Wednesday, folks!
To say life has been busy would be an understatement!
These past few days have seen me hosting brunches for Ciroc, filming ‘mercials for Colgate Optic White (I’m a member of their Designer Smile Squad!), twirling on Black History specials for BET, and participating in tapings for Upscale Magazine/Centric’s 16 Black Women to Watch in 2016 (!). But before all of that, I was invited to Paris by the Ministry of Tourism and the Promosalons trade shows to discover another side of the French fashion industry.
I, along with a contingent of American, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese journalists and digital influencers were welcomed to the city of style and light to tour trade shows like Who’s Next, Bijorhca, and Maison et Objet. Each promosalons showcases thousands of burgeoning designers in lingerie, home, fashion, accessories, jewelry, and more.
While our first few days were filled to the gills with trade shows, we took a luxurious turn on day 3, touring the ateliers of historic French houses like Hermes, jewelry powerhouse Mellerio dits Meller, and chandelier company DeLisle.
While I’m moreso accustomed to twirling in Paris for Fashion Week, it was certainly cool to go behind the scenes a bit and see how France nurtures both their emerging designers and their heritage brands.
It was fabulous and I can’t wait to go back for Paris Fashion Week in March.
