So 2016 is all about empowering others and using this fantastic platform to make a real difference in the fashion industry!
Thus, Fashion Bomb Daily has launched Claire Cares, an initiative whose goal is to help designers of color scale, show, produce, and flourish!
Our first project is a Fashion Show during this New York Fashion Week: we’re helping designer Jesse Queen put on a fab presentation and we need you.
Pieces by Jesse Queen
We’re searching for female models 5’10” and up and male models over 6’4″; we’re also looking for banging hairstylists and makeup artists who can help bring our vision to life.
This is a community and team effort, so if you know of anyone in the New York area who might be interested in donating their time or talent, please pass it along.
The goal for next season is to have a show featuring 5 designers we handpick.
Instead of complaining about the lack of black models on runways or the paltry number of designers showing, we’re going to do something about it.
Join the movement and e-mail us at Show@FashionBombDaily.com with resumés, comp cards, or examples of your work.
Smootches!
Solange Knowles went for bold as the Honorary Muse in New Orleans’ Krewe Of Muses Parade. For the occasion, the beauty skewed festive in a Moschino Spring 2016 Fringe Tiered Blue And Green Dress:
The eccentric blue and green tiered fringed frock was designed by Jeremy Scott for the brand’s Spring 2016 collection.
Solange paired the festive number with a black high neck top, tights and open toe ankle strap sandals.
Friday’s here! In the spirit of my birthday celebrations this weekend, let’s get some bright colors and fun going! Here’s Brea from Brooklyn:
She says, “My style is freedom. My style is daring. I step outside of my comfort zone most times and put looks together.” “I may not know exactly how it will look in the end but that’s the thrill of it all.”
“My grandmother made this golden outfit. I did not know what to wear with it because it makes a statement alone. I went to Unique. Unique is one of my favorite thrift stores in Brooklyn. I saw this green coat and I knew it was the one. I paired it with red heels to complete the look.“
“This is what I mean by stepping outside of my comfort zone. This look was inspired by Da Brat. “
“This tangy orange two-piece was also made by my grandmother! When I think of orange I think of pink. When I think of pink I think of blue. Just like that, I had an outfit for the day.”
“This look reminds me of lyrics to Nicki Minaj’s song “I’m The Best.” The Phillies Jersey and the red coat are from a thrift store. The boots gave me the exact look that I was going for. The braids and the earrings give the look a 90’s vibe.“
“This brown coat is from a thrift store in Atlanta,GA. The white pants are from the same thrift store. Putting looks together is fun. Thrifting is exciting because it allows me to put looks together that will only be seen on me. A thrift store sells one of a kind pieces.”
Love your style girl! I love fur and bright colors so your photos were definitely fun to look at! Ya’ll can get into Brea’s look on IG: LittleBreaThatCould. What do you think of her looks?

It was all about glitz and glam for Penelope Cruz who sauntered along the red carpet of the UK Premiere of Zoolander 2, outfitted in a custom Atelier Versace Gold Chain Mail Wrap Front Side Slit Gown:
She played up her natural beauty with a nude tone lipstick and shimmering eyeshadow. She is absolutely stunning!
Her statement chain mail number features a wrap front with a concealed zip closure at back.
UK superstar Alesha Dixon hit up the live auditions at the Hippodrome in Birmingham for a Britain’s Got Talent taping. The co-judge snapped a few personal pics before heading to the red carpet… and served it to us hot in a feisty $1,169 Fausto Puglisi Pink Cut Out Dress.
This saucy, thigh-grazing number features cut outs under the bust and on either side, upping the ante on meshing the perfect mix of racy and tasteful.
The modern, yet dainty party frock was dotted with silver embellishments, adding the right amount of dazzle.
These sultry, strappy sandals give a bondage vibe with silver chains about the ankle of the foot. Yet, they still manage to grab attention without looking too garish.
Friday’s are when we give you a dose of the ladies and the gentlemen’s fashion senses. Today we have Darvell from the Bronx:
When describing his style, he said, “Anything inspired by a men’s uniform (from car mechanics shirts to business suits to some edgy urban looks).Tempered by bright colors are some of the looks I go for.
Check out more photos below:
Yaaasss Darvell! I loved all your looks, especially the tailored suits (because, who doesn’t love a man in a tailored suit?) You guys can stay up on his style at IG:@only1venom. What do you guys think of Darvell from the Bronx?

Rio Uribe is not here for your tried and true practices or codes when it comes to fashion. And after his major 2015 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund win, we’d pretty much say that the power players in the industry agree with him. Though unisex fashion has always leaned a bit more on the side of women (“menswear-inspired” and “borrowed from the boys” are much more common), he’s showing that absolutely should not be the case with his brand Gypsy Sport.
With Fall 2016, he continued to do what he does best: defying and veritably eradicating what the industry would classify as “masculine” design. A zip-front cropped white track jacket and matching turtleneck felt equally Prince in the 80’s and b-boy, while a pair of patchwork flares were decidedly Seventies.
What will be interesting to see is how Uribe reworks these exact same pieces when he shows during NYFW’s womenswear shows. This definitely makes the case for swapping clothes with your brother, boyfriend, BFF, and all the other fashionable guys you hold dear.
The diverse cast was also another standout element of the collection and one that seems incredibly important to highlight for men of color. Jaden Smith and Young Thug have caught quite a bit of flack for dressing in a manner that many would describe as “feminine”, but Uribe disputes that entire idea here. If limiting people by gender is restricting, then doing the same with their fashion choices is equally as harmful.
With a powerful message and functional design on his side, we don’t have any doubt that Uribe’s career in fashion will be long. Gypsy Sport has been around since 2012, but this was clearly the beginning of the brand’s foray into the mainstream. It’s definitely a label to watch.
