Happy Monday everyone! I hope your weekend was filled with fun and some good weekend rest. While it warmed up ever so slightly here in D.C., this was a busy weekend of Award shows, after and pre-parties, and celebrity coverage galore!
But enough about the Awards, let’s get into our Bombshell of the Day, KiRa from Takoma Park, MD:
She says, “ My name is KiRa Henderson and I am from Takoma Park, MD.”
“My style is fun, unique and sometimes androgynous.”
“I rarely wear heels but I still like to feel girly so I definitely believe in pink.”
Okay KiRa! I love your androgynous play on clothing while still adding some hints of femininity with the pink. Ya’ll can stay up to date on KiRa’s whereabouts on IG: @hendersonkira. Let us know, what do you think of her style?

In addition to giving tips on how to do your own makeup if you suffer from a “beard” look in some photos, the model also recounts a story from last September when she got in a heated back and forth with a hair person for standing by what she knew to be right. It’s an interesting video with tips for all women, whether or not you have aspirations to be a model but here we’ve sussed out the five key products at Anderson advises carrying around at all times.
If you don’t know the brand, get familiar. Nubian Skin offers lingerie and underwear for women of color in “nude” shades that more accurately reflect their tones. Pick up some at Nordstrom or online.
If you’re hoping for a wet hair look with out the muckiness of hair gel, use an oil. Anderson’s suggestion comes from L’Oreal.
That does it!

What are some of your beauty essentials?
My homegirl Ty Alexander from Gorgeous in Grey recently posted a screenshot from a glossy UK magazine, lauding new (!) trendy (!) Boxer Braids, known to most as Cornrows.
It reads, “Every so often, a hairstyle becomes so major amongst the A-list that we all get a bit obsessed…Cue the boxer braids: originally used as a way to control curly or Afro hair, the schoolgirl cool style has been making its way through the stars and shows no sign of dying down. We first saw it on model Hailey Baldwin, then Kylie Jenner, Khloe Kardashian, and even North West. But it was Kim Kardashian who cemented the style of the moment.”
Objection #1: Why is this trend obsessed writer calling them boxer braids? Doesn’t she mean cornrows?
Objection #2: The writer admits that they were originally used to control ‘curly or Afro’ hair…so why not feature some brown skinned beauties to display the look?
Objection #3: Why/how do the Kardashian/Jenner ‘s always seem to get credit for ‘cementing’ a style that originated in minority communities?
At any rate, this is yet another example of a magazine admiring a trend that started in a minority community, slapping a new name on it, and giving zero credit or love to brown skinned beauties.
Does this grind your gears, or are you rolling your eyes and over it?

Tracee Ellis Ross attended the African American Film Critics Association Oscar Viewing Party last night in a Thai Nguyen Atelier Fall 2016 Gold Silk Velvet Dress with Lace Inserts:
Instead of rock with ample decolletage, Ms. Ross added a lace bandeau to pick up on the lace accents of the dress.
The Hot! and Hmmm votes were split on Instagram, with some saying, “She kills!” and other simply stating, “So ugly.” I like it! And I love how she added the lace accent. It’s a hot! for me!
What about you?
After the Oscars are the after parties! Hollywood is on fire right now with celebrations.
Check out what the stars donned for the annual Vanity Fair fete, hosted by Graydon Carter:

Tory Burch is adorable, but this bejeweled dress of her design does nothing for her. It needs some shape, no?
That’s all for now! Keep on refreshing as even more pictures filter in.
What do you think of the looks thus far? Any faves?
