Sports Illustrated is recognizing some of the most fashionable athletes in their latest May 2016 issue! In celebration of the featured style stars, the publication held an event at Vandal in New York City. The guests slipped out of their jerseys and sneakers in exchange for sky-high heels, tailored suits and statement-making embellishments.

Hannah Bronfman was the DJ of the Hour! The style maven/fitness extraordinaire slayed in a black Bec and Bridge off-the-shoulder dress which also features lace-up sleeves and a fitted silhouette. Hot!

Model Rose Bertram wore a structured Balmain x H&M black silk velvet dress and over-the-knee boots.

The lovely Chanel Iman went bold in the ‘Cutout Ultrasuede’ dress by Vatanika. Love this!

Nina Agdal went festive in a navy blue embellished mini by Chanel and a matching shoulder bag by Malene Berger.

Denver Broncos linebacker and Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller was all smiles alongside Witney Carson.

DeMarco Murray of the Tennessee Titans and Victor Cruz of the New York Giants were also in attendance. My God, talk about a double dose of handsome!

Swin Cash of the New York Liberty looked flawless as she color-blocked in a fitted blue dress and purple pumps. Yes!

Model Damaris Lewis rocked a black jumpsuit and brown wedges.

And, Michael Strahan struck some pretty impressive poses for the cameras, lol!

The television personality and former New York Giants defensive end looked every bit of dapper in a tailored suit. He better werk!

Earlier this week, the 2016 Breast Cancer Research Foundation held its highly-anticipated Hot Pink Party at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City! Every April, some of the city’s most revered philanthropists and celebrity guests attend this monumental event to help raise funds for lifesaving breast cancer research.

Our girl LaLa Anthony shut it down in a semi-sheer Vera Wang number. Yes!

Actress Elizabeth Hurley was also on hand while uplifting a simple Jovani pink halterneck gown.

Fashionista Olivia Culpo chose a softer hue for the occasion. The beauty slipped into a Alessandra Rich off-the-shoulder pistachio knotted silk dress and matching heels. Cute!

Television personality Nigel Barker graced the cameras alongside his lovely wife Cristen Chin Barker. How adorable are they?!

Designer Vera Wang looked chic in a light pink ensemble.

Actress/singer Patina Miller slayed in all-black as she rocked a fun cocktail dress by Amaya Arzuaga. She accented her look with peep-toe pumps and a flawless top-knot. Werk!

Iconic ballerina Misty Copeland kept it sexy with a plunging neckline and cutout effects. She’s so beautiful!

Bethenny Frankel showcased her enviable frame in a structured burgundy pick.

Comedienne Amy Schumer chatted and chuckled with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show last night and looked sleek amidst the laughter and playful banter.  She wore a $950 Victoria, Victoria Beckham Two-Tone Wool-Crepe Mini Dress:

This ’60s-inspired shift dress is cleverly color-blocked to appear as a separate top and skirt.

 Cut from tactile wool-crepe, this design has a darted bust and is finished with subtle black satin trims. The silk lining creates a smooth and comfortable fit.

The women of today’s Beauty Crush Wednesday are two women that really pull at my heart strings…and not just because they took a photo with me at New York Fashion Week.

These beauties are known individually as TK Wonder and Ciprianna Quann, but collectively known as the Urban Bush Babes.

The first thing many people flock over is their hair, which, yes, is all theirs. Aside from carving out their niche in the natural hair community and true testaments that people with 4C textured hair CAN grow their hair long with proper nutrition and hair care, both young ladies have fostered individual communities through the platforms of motivational speaking, blogging, modeling and music. IIn addition to being a place for naturalistas to feel welcome and at home, UrbanBushBabe also tackles the worlds of beauty, arts, culture, self-affirmation, and definitely female empowerment. Both women have opened up before on how they were bullied about their hair (which I could definitely relate to), their style, and even opened up about their tumultuous childhood racked with addiction, abuse, and self-worth issues:

In all honesty, these women are beautiful for so much more than their physical aesthetics of beauteous facial features, eclectic style and out-of-this-world hair. Anyone willing to share their story and rise on top to not only better themself, but work to inspire and better the community, is totally worthy of being a beauty crush.“I decided a long time ago that I wasn’t going to let my past decide who I was,” was one of the most powerful quotes of the video, which also reveals the beauty in these women who are opening the door, through their own stories, the issue of mental health and addiction in the Black community. While we can sit and discuss how beautiful these women physically are or covet the locs of hair that fall from their crown, I would say the true beauty lies in the fact they represent hope for other young people in similar situations. That we are not byproducts of our past…we possess the magic to create our future.

Do you ever see a product, and are not exactly sure if they’re Hot! or Hmm…? Such are my feelings towards Givenchy’s $375 Logo Leather Slides:

The design? Hot! There’s seriously nothing more comfortable than a leather slide in the summer. The Givenchy logo adds a dash of chic.

The price? Hmmm…these shoes definitely remind me of those Adidas Slides aka shower shoes that were de rigeur in junior high school.

And if those retail for $30, then you know you’re paying $325 extra to have Givenchy on your footwear. Sigh.


The whole ‘slide’ look has been picking up steam this Spring.
