We’re still obsessing over Skai Jackson’s 2016 Radio Disney Music Awards Giulette Brown look: styled by none other than FBD fave Law Roach. Well, let’s not forget about her stunning hair! Tym Wallace is the man behind her gorgeous tresses for the evening—the hairstylist for many of our favorite celebs including Nene Leakes and Kelly Rowland.
“I was inspired by the bohemian style of Solange Knowles mixed with the femme fatale vibes of the 1940s,” said Wallace of Skai’s gorgeous ‘do.
3.Comb the twists out using a wide tooth comb. This way you are elongating the hair without completely disrupting the curls and adding in more texture.
4.Next, part your hair on your most flattering side. For added volume, feel free to include a couple of extensions in a textured curl pattern.
5.For more curl definition, take small sections and curl using a 1/2 inch barrel iron.
6. After defining the waves, take a small paddle brush—such as a Mason Pearson ($205)— and brush out the waves to create a soft airy texture.
As I recover from my 2016 Met Gala-induced hangover, I’m slowly regaining my composure by featuring a blogger that is near and dear to my heart.
I started following Shea Pedro of Curves and Confidence a few years ago and, ever since then, this style maven has remained consistent in providing her audience with endless outfit inspiration as well as fitness/health tips. Shea gives her followers a glimpse into her healthy lifestyle while encouraging and motivating women to love the skin they’re in.
According to Shea’s ‘About Me’ section, the fierce fashionista didn’t have it in her plans to start a blog, rather life simply moved her in a direction that eventually had her do it. She writes, “I am a 30-something business professional that loves taking the term “office attire” to a new level. I am originally from Brooklyn, NY but was thrown into the country life at the age of 6 when my family moved to NC.”

This young woman’s style is everything! Shea manages to keep her looks clean and simple while adding a bit of unexpected flair every now and then. Kendall Jenner had one of highest number of likes on our IG last night, sizzling in this cut-out blue and tan number from Calvin Klein. I love how she dresses so differently than the majority of her family.
Claire Danes stole the show when photos of her dress circulated on social media hours before she arrived. Her custom-made Zac Posen dress featured fiber optic lights that lit up in the dark. She looked like a Cinderella and definitely glowed like a princess!
Lady Z (can that become her new nickname?) came dressed to impress in a one shoulder high neck shimmery Michael Kors gown. I’m digging the hair choice here as well. Slay Zendaya!
Idris Elba is just one fine man, ya’ll. He gave us menswear simplicity yet elegance in a black Tom Ford suit with white button up. Perfect.
Jourdan Dunn also stole the show in this beautiful Balmain metallic cut-out gown.I definitely loved the metallic vibe that went down last night, but this dress was superb.
Kylie Jenner rocked a blunt haircut and also wore Balmain (no surprise) for the Met gala festivities. It seems she’s following in her big sister Kim’s footsteps, because this definitely screamed Kim to me. Nonetheless, I love Balmain, I love this dress, I have no problems.
Speaking of Kim, she and Kanye made their coveted appearance to the Met Gala both wearing Balmain as well (last night was just a win for Balmain, huh?). Kim rocked a strong contour (I’m wondering if that was intentional considering it’s about tech, or…) and this very futuristic dress while Ye kept it casual aside from a decked-out jacket and those contacts…yeah, what do you guys think?
Cindy Crawford showed absolutely no signs of aging as she glistened alongside Olivier Rousteing in this beautiful metallic Balmain gown. I love how he was able to dress everyone so differently, and I especially love the sheer paneling down the arms and torso. Bravo, Cindy!
Poppy Delevingne gave me ‘The Great Gatsby’ vibes in her embellished Marchesa Fall ’16 gown. I love that she kept the same accessories as the model and paired it with a dark look to offset the coolness in the dress and her blonde hair. Overall, a win for me.
Last, but certainly not least, was Ciara who rocked a high-collar, sleeveless silver metallic gown with nude (brown girl friendly) paneling from H&M. She decided to match her hair with the color of her dress, and though a little out there, I have to say I couldn’t take my eyes off of her! Absolutely stunning.

Blake Lively doesn’t rely on stylists to pull together her red carpet ensembles, but she definitely chooses the best in the business when it comes to getting her beauty look right. Makeup artist to the stars, Charlotte Tilbury, opted for a classic, pillar box red lipstick to complement Blake’s pretty pink Burberry gown. Here’s how to recreate it:
1. Charlotte made Blake’s skin flaw-free (she didn’t have much to do in this area) by using a treat and transform demi-matte foundation.
2. She applied a little bit of light reflecting concealer under the eyes to smooth and illuminate where the darkness would naturally gather.
3. Using a soft taupe eyebrow pencil, Charlotte filled in Blake’s brows and elongated them.
4. Charlotte applied a golden bronze eyeshadow to the lids, blending up towards the brow bone and softly defining underneath the eyes.
5. She then used a brown-gold flecked eyeliner along the lash line to define, enhance. and extend the eyes.
6. To finish the eye look and create gorgeous lashes, Charlotte applied several coats of mascara to the top and the bottom lashes.
7. Next, Charlotte used a contour kit to sculpt and contour Blake’s cheekbones using a natural shade.
8. Charlotte never starts a lip look without a lip liner, especially when doing a bold and beautiful pillar-box red lipstick! Use the liner as a stencil and fill in with a moisturizing matte red lipstick.
9. Charlotte finished the skin with a cashmere-soft, finely-milled powder across the t-zone. Not only does this seal in the makeup, it gives the skin a red carpet-ready finish that looks perfected in real life and in HD!
10. Dust a glowing dreamy highlight across the tops of the cheekbones that plays with the light.
11. Finish with a pop of a tawny rose blush from the center of the cheeks—where you would naturally blush for a healthy and happy glow!
Afeni Shakur Davis, mother of late rap legend Tupac Shakur, has died at the age of 69 from a possible heart attack.
Alice Faye Williams legally changed her name to Afeni Shakur shortly after moving to New York and joining the Black Panthers Movement. A native of North Carolina, Davis first gained prominence in the media as one of 21 members of the Black Panther party put on trail in New York in 1969. The trail circles around the members allegedly plotting to shoot and bomb two New York City police stations and an education center. At the time the most expensive trial in New York history, all defendants were acquitted of all charges two years later. A month after her acquittal, Afeni birthed Lesane Parish Crooks, aka, Tupac Shakur.
In 2003 on the release of the movie “Tupac Resurrection,” Davis told CBS News: “I’m not a filmmaker. I’m not a music producer by choice. Whatever it is I’m doing I do because my son was murdered, and he was not able to complete his work. So as his mother, my whole job and responsibility is to see to it that that happens for him, and I do that with love.“
A major influence in Tupac’s life, Afeni would eventually inspire him to write, “Dear Mama,” one of his most vulnerable records where Shakur details his childhood poverty and his mother’s drug addiction. Rather than dote on the negative, the song is about uplifting not only Shakur’s mother, but mother’s everywhere. Take a look at the music video:
After her son’s 1996 shooting death, Shakur took over the late rapper’s estate, which reportedly earns about $900,000 each year.
A movie about Tupac’s life, “All Eyez on Me,” is set for release in November, with Danai Gurira cast as mother Shakur. Afeni served as an executive producer for the film.
May her legacy and all she stood for be forever in our memories. Rest in Power.
Last night, the 2016 MET Gala held us captive as we anxiously awaited the arrivals of our favorite fashionistas, models and it-girls. The Fashion Bomb staff (myself included) were literally glued to our computer and phone screens as we ID’ed breathtaking gowns and showstopping duds. Talk about hard work!
But, the after parties are always pretty epic as well! Whelp, it turns out designer Olivier Rousteing threw a Balmain-drenched bash all his own and, trust me, the stars were absolutely fierce. And, our Editor-in-Chief Claire Sulmers was even in attendance!

Wheeeww! Who rocked your favorite look of the evening?
Zoe Saldana was easily one of the night’s best dressed at the 2016 Met Gala—perhaps even having her best red carpet style moment ever! Makeup artist Vera Steimberg wanted to complement her stunning Dolce & Gabbana gown with a chromatic beauty look. Here are the steps to get it:
1. To prep Zoe’s skin and ensure a flawless, poreless canvas, Steimberg applied Charlotte’s Magic Cream ($100) generously to the entire face, massaging it in to plump skin and create a luminous glow. Then, she followed with Magic Eye Rescue ($60) to smooth the delicate eye area.
2. Next, she applied Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow ($55) on the cheekbones, bridge of the nose and brow bone to create a “spotlight” effect. For a naturally beautiful complexion, apply Light Wonder Foundation in Shade 10 ($45).
4. For the eyes, Steimberg applied a wash of color on the eyelids with creme eyeshadow Eyes to Mesmerise in Mona Lisa and Jean ($32 each), and then used the same combination to line the lower lashes for a serious shimmer. Next, she lined into the lash line with the Colour Chameleon Eyeshadow Pencil in Bronzed Garnet ($27)—using it all the way up the lid and blending the two jewel tones together for a more defined shadow. To enhance Zoe’s eyes and give her a wide-eyed, fresh look, she lined the lower lashes with Colour Chameleon Eyeshadow Pencil in Bronzed Garnet ($27) and used The Feline Flick ($30) to dot between the upper lashes—creating a fuller, false-lash effect. She finished with several coats of of Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes ($29).
Now that the 2016 Met Gala has concluded, let’s get down to the business: the actual Costume Institute designs. Manus x Machina takes on fashionable feats, done both by the hands of expert artists in ateliers all over the world and those completed by sewing machines and the like.
