Monroe Steele is one of those bloggers that I’ve kept tabs on since taking an interest in the blogosphere. As a fashion powerhouse, the founder of Fashion Steele NYC is one of my favorite fashionistas because she dresses for herself and no on else. And, in a world full of duplicates and imitation, stumbling upon genuine “personal” style is like finding a diamond in the rough.

Since the launch of Fashion Steele NYC, Monroe’s style transformation has been such a pleasure to watch! This style maven has evolved in so many ways and her stylish journey has only begun. With a love for one-of-a-kind vintage pieces, Tibi footwear and quirky accents, it’s almost impossible to predict what she’ll rock next. In addition, her blog is also the foundation for which she expresses some of life’s most controversial topics including body image, relationships, beauty and even personal growth.

The Bomb Blogger feature is always a delight to research because I get to pull nuggets of sartorial inspiration from some of the dopest girls out there. And, in this case, I had to pull out my notebook to take extra notes, lol! Monroe is a fan of all things eccentric and fun: from her eye-popping skirts (ummm, did ya’ll see the Stella Jean fringe masterpiece?!) to her secret love affair for off-the-shoulder pieces, she’s mastered the balance of mixing her throwback finds with more modern counterparts which translate into sheer chicness.

As we know, boudoir-inspired fashion has re-surfaced as one of spring’s most risky (and questionable) trends. While some may feel that lace bodysuits and satin robes are only suitable for the bedroom, there are a few style mavens who are proving that these pieces can also double as wardrobe essentials. So, in this week’s Rock It! Or Knock It? feature, we’re focusing on the corset.

Let’s get to it!

Rihanna layered her lilac corset over a matching ‘fit which features a flowy button-up, a mini skirt and Givenchy lace/leather mules. This sort of pairing makes the look a little unexpected yet fun.

Street style pro Kim Kardashian West gravitated towards a more neutral palette.

Laura Govan took a more creative approach by donning a basket weave corset. She added a pair of distressed denim, and a gorgeous pink coat by House of CB. Werk!

And Gigi Hadid slayed the look in a striped option by Rubin Singer.

The black sleeveless dress features a side slit with light rouging detail in the mid-section.  Kim altered her dress so that it drapes over the bust area.

She kept her look simple by rockin’ a pair of black single sole sandals and her signature center part.

Refreshing to see Kim in a toned down look.  I say Hot!

Mariah Carey was spotted out and about in New York City earlier today while rocking the same $5,595 Balmain Sequined Tulle Mini Dress Beyoncé wore at the Early Education 75th Anniversary.

While Mimi accessorized with fishnets and Christian Louboutin platform peep toes, Beyonce wore sheer stockings and simple sandals.
The pricey dress features a fierce tiger print, a flattering v-neck and padded shoulders.

The silk-lined tulle piece also boasts a gold, bronze and black color palette.

Hmm…not sure this dress works on either one. It looks more Bebe than Balmain…!

Kendall Jenner continues to put her fashion foot forward at today’s Chopard Event during the Cannes Film Festival wearing an Elie Saab Spring 2015 Couture dress:

The cream colored, sheer dress features a three quarter sleeve with feather detail. Designed in a high-low fashion, the front of the skirt has two pockets and is floor-length in the back.

Kendall ditched the belt worn by the model on the runway and paired her dress with gold, single sole sandals.

At this point, Kendall we can confidently say Kendall has slayed the Cannes Film Festival scene.  This boudoir-inspired look is a hit for me!
