Kate Spade is known for designs that combine fun, flirtatiousness, and function. The brand didn’t stray from its signature aesthetic for Resort 2017: a pivotal season when it comes to sales and wearability.
Where dresses were animated in print and color, they were quite demure and polite in silhouette—quintessentially feminine accents like bows, ruffles, and pussybows adorned the frocks.
Resort is synonymous with getaway and vacation to many, but it’s important to remember that so much of the world is cold during the time the season hits stores in the early throes of Winter. The frigid temperatures were made cozy and warm with an adorable bunny motif hand muff and a fur polka dot coat.
Separates packed the most punch when it to came to major wardrobe wear. An embellished jacket with elbow-length sleeves made the case for year-round dressing and lots of layering, while a classic button-front shirt in icy blue and white gently whispered “closet staple”.
And naturally, the accessories were standout. Leather dinosaur shoulder bags in baby pink and lilac were what street style snaps are made of, but slingbacks with block kitten heels and mini top-handle bags were just the opposite and a bit more conservative than desired.
Overall, the collection played into the brand’s trademark coquettish and refined silhouettes. There were even some dresses that could work for film photocalls or the red carpet. Guess we’ll have to see which polished and playful stars opt for the brand in the coming months: America Ferrera and Olivia Culpo wore it well at this week’s CFDA Awards.
Bella Thorne showed off her long legs yesterday as she headed to the set of EXTRA wearing $1,295 Military Green Mini Dress, a $2,175 Purple, Green and Black Jacket and Medusa Tri-strap Platform Sandals all from the Versace S/S 2016 collection:
The sleeveless, military green mini dress features a black and taupe medallion belt along with two slits on each side of the skirt.
Her purple, green and black jacket has four pockets on the front with five buttons for closure.
Bella’s green leather Medusa tri-strap platform sandals features open toe, gold-tone hardware, side buckle fastenings, a brand embossed insole, a platform sole and a high block heel.

Now, I admit – I have a pair of furry sandals in my closet. I purchased my version from Topshop a little over a year ago and I LOOVEEE them! I recently wore them to a local event and one of the attendees referred to them as ‘bedroom shoes’, lol. I died!!! But, nevertheless, they’re a fun shoe to rock and they always incorporate an unexpected touch to classic looks. Try your luck with these ice white lovelies!

Let’s be honest: graphic t-shirts are classic. They can be worn with everything from a full, floor-grazing skirt to your favorite pair of cutoffs. And they’ll still look chic: how many pieces of clothing can achieve that? There are a ton of brands doing the timeless tee right now (including your favorite artists like Kanye West and Justin Bieber), but MONOGRAM is presenting some of the coolest graphics in the market this season.
The brains behind the brand are two names we’ve seen in fashion before: Jeff Halmos of Shipley & Halmos and Lisa Mayock of Vena Cava. The husband-wife design duo are getting back into the game by riffing on the iconic wardrobe staple, with prices that are a bit higher than the average t-shirt, but are crafted from much better quality fabric.
With prices ranging from $60 to $90, you can invest in a couple of these bad boys without breaking the bank.
