Last week, I was graciously invited to view Italia Independent’s Ghostbusters Collection, curated by rap legend Nas. Of course, Nas Esco was in the building, along with Power’s Omari Hardwick, Malik Yoba, and more.
To commemorate Ghostbusters highly anticipated release, Italia Independent and Nas curated a special capsule of eight models of sunglasses inspired by the film’s notable characters. The limited-edition ItaliaIndependent x Ghostbusters collection includes iconic and oversize frames, as well as classic shapes with movie-inspired digital printed patterns.
The cute collection will be sold at Italia Independent boutiques, on the brand’s e-commerce platform italiaindependent.com, at the online store hypebeast.com and at select retail partners including Ron Herman in Los Angeles and Colette in Paris.
It was a fun event, and I was juiced to see Nas. I’m a fan!
For the occasion, I decided to sparkled in a sequined skirt and jacket by one of my favorite designers, Shades of Shea.

*I’m off to pack for Cuba! Did I tell you I was going? Stay tuned for flicks from Havana.
We’ve talked about her before, but Ashley Graham is definitely taking over the world, one plus size model at a time. The beauty has always been proactive in uplifting and empowering of women, but she’s also had an amazing year. She designed a dress collection for Dressbarn, covered Sports Illustrated, Elle.com, been the ‘It’ girl in music videos, and so much more. Her recent project? Launching her new, plus size swimsuit line.So why is Ashley Graham our Beauty Crush Wednesday? While her aesthetics definitely scream ‘Bombshell’ to us, it is important to continue to spotlight beautiful, intelligent women who stand for an important yet oft overlooked demographic.Girls of all ages and all sizes can rock their summer bodies in style and comfort with a swimwear line that’s geared toward more than just the size 2 frame. As well, Graham’s constant body expression show us ALL that we can exude confidence and appeal in the clothes that we wear, but it truly starts from within. The collection, Graham said in an interview with Elle.com , is inspired by James Bond. “I wanted to be James Bond,” she clarifies. “Not one of the girls. They’re always portrayed as the sexy secondary, but why not be the boss? I’m strong, but also sexy.“
Why not be the boss, indeed. We love Ashley Graham and all she stands for and pushes for women of all sizes!
What do you think of her latest swimsuit line? Is Ashley Graham your Beauty Crush?
So my girl Soma recently put me on to Stefano Maroni, a brand of fantastic flats from Italy.
I stay in a heel, and my feet suffer! It’s hard to find fashionable flats, but Stefano has loads of options, from loafers to chic sandals, just in time for summer.
Loafers come in python, zebra hair with braided gold piping, and metallic tones; sandals shine in hues like yellow, orange, blue, and silver.
I picked up a few pairs for my trip to Cuba!
Prices start around $400 and top off at $700 for more exotic styles.
If you want a pair for yourselves, visit StefanoMorani.com! Bonus: Get 10% off with the code Bomb10 (and free shipping in the US!).
This week has been full of stylish red carpet events! Our favorite fashionable actresses took to the Gracies last night and their looks did not disappoint.
Here’s what they wore:
Mindy Kaling was a blue dream in a one-shoulder, sculpted Elizabeth Kennedy gown. Hot!
Yara Shahidi kept it simple and chic in a Brooks Brothers LBD—given some pizzazz with curly pigtail buns. What’s not to love?
Lesley Ann Brandt couldn’t be missed in a painterly, watercolor print cutout Gauri & Nainika dress. She’s gorgeous.
Andra Day flexed her signature, retro-inspired style in an olive, long-sleeve crochet dress and patterned head wrap. She’s never looked better!
Actress and dancer Michelle Mitchenor uplifted a silky black tank with a kelly green full skirt. I can’t find a flaw here.
I enjoy seeing Scott Foley in suits both off and onscreen! He chose an expertly-tailored pairing and a beard for the evening.
Shaun Robinson slipped on a yellow strapless Jay Godfrey slit gown. Hot!
Beyonce has sported her trusty Saint Laurent jacket before (talk about a great return for your money, huh?), that features leather detailing, two zip side pockets and metallic buttoning throughout.
Comprised of 100% silk, her dress features a deep V neck with layered sleeves and a floral applique throughout.
I think Bey looks good, and this is definitely a cool way to mix femininity with biker chic for a summer evening with bae.
If you have King Bey coins, splurge on her dress at Saks and get her jacket at Net-a-Porter.
The new Roots miniseries on the History channel debuts on Monday! The stars were certainly out for its premiere in strapless numbers, relaxed suits, bold prints, and more.
Let’s see what they wore!
Emayatzy Corinealdi smoldered in a black and white, off-the-shoulder gown by CD Greene. She’s stunning.
Anika Noni Rose slipped on a purple strapless Georges Chakra gown with an embellished bodice.
Artist Derica Cole Washington easily had one of the best looks of the week in a floral-embellished 5:31 JEROME dress. Hot!
It was all about prints for Erica Tazel in a one-shoulder red and black patterned Chiara Boni number. This was fab.
T.I. kept it casual, but polished in a black and navy ensemble, anchored by Jordans.
Anna Paquin shimmered and sparkled in a sequin-encrusted Escada gown with an illusion neckline and belt cinching her waist.
Eternal heartthrob Mario Van Peebles was dapper in all black.
Derek Luke followed Mario’s lead, choosing a contrast lapel suit for the evening.
Actress Kirby Jackson uplifted a simple LBD with strappy sandals and a gemstone-adorned clutch. She’s a beauty!
Head of Television for Will Packer Productions, Korin Huggins, gave some flair to the classic black and white ensemble with a glossy, geometric-print floor grazing skirt.
The beautiful Janelle Monae was spotted at last night’s Gordon Park Foundation Awards event clad in a black Barbara Bui caped dress, Brian Atwood black fringe heels, and a Naeem Khan black clutch:
The dress was originally spotted down the runway of her Winter ’16 collection, the cape boasting a beautiful emerald green color and a checkered print with fringe appearing over the dress.
Her heels have been spotted before on stars like Taraji P. Henson; a skyrocket high heel, these have fringe detailing around the ankle and sport a peep open toe.
Janelle looks stunning as usual, and I’m always impressed on how she revamps a sold black outfit. Yum!
