Hey!
So today the Fashion Bombshell style plane is leaving Europe for the sunshine of Jamaica, where reader and blogger Irie Diva resides:

She says, “Ever had a fashion bombshell from Jamaica? Well, I’m feeling very brave tonight and thought I’d send in a few pics :)”

“I love fashion enough to dabble behind the sewing machine every now and then and hopefully one day will take it on fully!”

“I blog as well at www.iriediva.com.”

Cute looks!
That first picture makes me wish I were on a beach, sippin some rum punch right…now.

  1. i only really like the 1st outfit! it’s FAB! white linen dress/top= essential for us Island Galz

  2. Style is not always going to be over the top and in your face. Some people prefer simple and clean, and I love Irie Diva for that!!! Not everyone can or wants to walk around with loud prints, holes, rips, or bold colors. GO IRIE!!!!

  3. I appreciate Che’lise’s point of view, not everybody’s style is going to be straight from Chictopia.com. Just because I may not wear it doesn’t mean that its not “style” to them. I applaud anybody that has the courage to send their pics in. Her hair/face is cute in the second pic. *speed walks out the comment section*

  4. *peaks head back in* Buuuuuuut I will say, with a simple dress like the first and third, having quality accessories will make it look super nice. *walks back out again*

  5. Ok everyones style is different but idk i thought posting your style pics were to sorta show people how style can be thought of outside of the box with different looks these pics look like something out of rainbow its a cheap store in the mall wit outfits under 19.99 i dnt see different in any of the pics im not impressed

  6. Wow?!?! i am beside myself w/ all of the negative comments some of the same people that gave me slack for stating the same thing about Ivory FashionBomb-less the other day. This young lady’s style is simple yet polished! Her makeup, accessory and hair style choices are casual yet polished! I like Irie and her style even better.

  7. Her style like others stated is just “Mehh” to
me. On a sidenote: About how long does
it take for a Bombshell to be accepted and featured??

  8. well considering jamaica doesnt have an h and m and forever 21 or express on every corner, I think she did good with the looks. Ive been to jamaica and trust me girls we need to be thankful for all the outlets and malls we have! GOOD JOB IRIE!!!

  9. Cute and colorful. I like that you flaunt one of your greatest assests(legs)…I really like the second picture.

  10. and mrs bliss, PLEASE you were straight up hating on Ivory. EVERYONE was in agreement with her style. And you attacked her and made personal jabs at her which was rude. There is a right and wrong way to comment and you were just wrong. And this girl plays up colors JUST like Ivory did. But being in Jamaica with not a lot of stores to choose from, I think this girl did good. some of the thing you posted about Ivory were straight up RUDE. Girl check yourself.

  11. Not really feeling any of the pieces but I agree with @bee in saying “But being in Jamaica with not a lot of stores to choose from, I think this girl did good.”

  12. There really are not many places to buy amazing clothes in Jamaica. If you want something somewhat out of the ordinary, you need to have money or be able to make it yourself. This woman made some of these pieces she is wearing and I think that’s commendable. And I think the clothes she’s wearing complement Jamaica quite well.

  13. Guys chill out, she looks good. No need to hate.., her style is simple yet polished. Also she lives in Jamacia…it wouldnt be smart to layer your clothing. She is a smart dresser, the heat is killer there. YOU GO GIRL!, STRIKE A POSE, FIERCE!

  14. Hey Claire. What happened to comments being monitored and posted at your discretion? While everyone is entitled to their opinions, some of these comments are quite rude. And the back and forth takes away from the fabness of this site. I, too, applaud those who have the courage to send in photos and place themselves under the scrutiny of others. Bring that back please.

  15. I am from Jamaica and i can say we have way better fashionistas around. She is blah and boring! The pink dress is cute but everything else aint nothing special. Not a good representation of the real fashion on the scene but applaud her for the bravery! I read her blog and her post on being a fashionista where she says they follow trends! That is false! Fashionistas make fashion their own…trendy vintage all that is encompassed into their personal style. Her style is outdated and boring. For the person who says there isn’t anywhere to buy clothes…plz be quiet many new boutiques have been popping up with very edgy and modern clothing! As i said i applaud her for the bravery she looks okay and apart from the pink dress she failed! Next!

  16. @CrimsonDiva Sorry I was busy uploading posts to the site for my blogging and your reading enjoyment. Comments Moderated.

  17. It think her looks are good considering where she is. Ive also been to jamaica and boutique prices are different from huge chain prices. So maybe her style is on a budget. Anywho I like her style and her blog! anyone that thinks jamacia can do better, send in the pics and let them do the talking. In the mean time she was chosen and i think shes reppin diversity in fashion quite nicely! kuddos to you Irie.

  18. another JAMAICAN here, and yeah definitely not the most stylish person to rep the country, and yes there are no H&M or forever 21 out here but there are stores that sell the stuff from those stores or have their own variety of stylish stuff. Then you have ppl like me who can put together an nice outfit that isnt dependent on those stores styles….. being stylish isnt only being able to just go to the store an buy a look already put together for u but being creative an making it work regardless of wat u have

  19. oh p.s. we not living in the 1800s here so we can order things off the internet as well ;)

  20. I think pic 3 is very cute! Irie I really hope that you don’t allow ppl who hide behing computer keys to dictate how u feel about ur style. If YOU think you got it then Honey you got it! No man (or woman) can tear you down. I think that ppl need to learn to be considerate and not just blurt out whatever pops up in thier small minded brain! I usually sit back and observe the goings ons of the comment section but lately ppl hav been irking my nerves with thier rudeness. I would love to see the pics of some of these critics since thier style rivals some of fashions greatest minds (insert sarcastic face here)!

  21. funny that there are always WAY more comments when ppl have something negative to say. CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is the best kind folks. some of u are down right MEAN. I totally understand that they are putting themselves out there to be “judged” by submitting pics, but d*mn. a little humility would be nice. smh.

  22. msbliss: i’m glad to see i’m still on your mind :)
who woulda thunk??? a girl who’s look screams geechi and says that i want the world to look at me, makes a lasting impression…
get a life and i’m so looking forward to your “bombshell” moment

  23. There’s always a way to say things, its not about what you say its about how you say it. To me she looks okay and cute but that is my opinion. I understand the people who send pictures are taking a risk knowing people will talk about them, but i doubt they send there pictures to be talked about so rudely. I don’t think anybody thats judging her rudely would like the same thing to happen to them. Everyone is entitled to a opinion but you should be respectful and considerate to the fashion bombs feelings, there humans too.

  24. I think she is a cutie patootie! She’ s curvy and her style is cute! different accessories could have really taken her look to the next level

  25. She is a pretty woman but it’s her style that is on display. I really feel too many commentators are taking the “negative” comments to heart.
My only comment is what’s up with the drink shots.

  26. again.. pics get posted, comments get left. I dont understand the “hatin on her” comments. Everyone clearly does not like the same thing. When u submit the pics u know what u are submitting so take the judgements as they come… its not that serious! If you think your fly then thats what it is. Me personally dont like her style…bottom line

  27. I think her look is simple and cute with going overboard. Each of her looks include a pop of color. Orange fingernails, a yellow dress, blue shoes and a turquoise belt are not what I would call boring.

  28. I like how she plays with color, but her look is somewhat plain.

I agree with Tanya: I’m a Jamaican American and I’m always traveling to Jamaica. There are plenty of fashionistas in Jamaica. In addition, the country may not have the chain stores found in the States, but there are still some nice places to buy clothes. Similarly to the US, one doesn’t need to break the bank to find nice stuff at some of the stores there.

@ pyt, I’m sure it’s not deliberate, but your comment about her style looking good based on her location is coming off a bit ethnocentric and condescending. Fab style is fab style regardless of where you’re from, unless the foundation of the style is based on that particular culture. Jamaica’s fashion scene is very similar to what can be found in NYC, Toronto, and London.

  29. I think Ari said it best. Nobody is “hating” just because they genuinely don’t like her style. I think in order to be considered a BOMBSHELL, you have to be just that. And based on these pics, her style is at best just average. The pic with the yellow dress is actually cute, simple, and I like the fact that she chose green heels and a simple clutch. The other looks were unimpressive. My “opinion,” not “hate.”

  30. im jamaican. and sorryy i dont like this at all. Ppl there dress better than this. First look is a cute beach look but everything is blah, bland and boring. sorry.

  31. Hey thanks for all the comments! I really appreciate them all and thanks especially to those who say my style is cute. cutesy is what i aim for!

yes there are lots and lots of fashionistas in Jamaica! I’m not trying to rep us all, just doing me. there are many many more quite fabulous ones who I feature on my own blog from time to time…come on by!

    Love,
    Irie

  32. I live here (in Jamaica) and there’s nothing special about this chick’s style. Onto the next one
