Tokirra says, “I’m going to Kevin Hart’s new show “Let me Explain.” I want to wear thigh high boots but what could I wear to make them stylish and not hooker-ish???”

“… Help!!!”
Thigh high boots are super saucy, and can definitely look like ‘hooker’ boots if worn the ‘wrong’ way. The simple rule is, the less skin, the less likely you are to be mistaken for a street walker.
If you want to go for conservative, take cues from the following fly ladies:

If you live by the axiom, “If you’ve got it, flaunt it,” look to these ladies for inspiration:

I personally don’t mind either iteration of wearing thigh highs. Just don’t wear ’em with, say, micro shorts…

..and you’re good.
What do you ladies think?

  1. Love that you posted this becasue I LOVE thigh high boots and rock them ALOT on my blog. I agree you shouldnt wear them with micro shorts AT ALL… heck you shouldnt go out in public with micro shorts hahah. Just did a post of me in thigh high boots and it was featured in the Washingtonian…. Thanks again Clare… love your blog and this post! You gave me more inspiration!

  2. I’m sorry but I dont’ think thigh high boots work on shorties (i.e. Megan, Kim, Trina, Eva). I fall into that category and as much as I want a pair, know they don’t work for me because of my height.

  3. None of my thigh high’s stay up on my legs, lol. :(
Any suggestions? Could I possibly get them altered?

  4. Rhi is looking too cute in her top and boots! When it comes to thigh highs, I think the more expensive you can get, the better. Those ones from Charlotte Russe would not cut it!

  5. I was happy to read this because I just got a pair and I kept asking if I looked like a hoochie. But I actually wore mine to church and got a lot of compliments. I def agree it all depends on what you wear them with.

  6. Please send/post a pic of those church thigh-highs. Dying to see the ensemble…and the preachers reaction!

  7. I have thick legs and huge thighs! Very hard to find boots, that will get all the way up there let alone past my calf sometimes…PLZ HELP!

  8. The answer…DON”T..leave the thigh high botts alone. They always look hooker-ish!! Just my opinion

  9. I think if you’re going to be wearing thigh high boots and you dont want to avoid look hookerish, dressing more conservatively will work. If you want to look flashy, some great jewelry and hawt make up can take care of that really.

  10. @ Kitty B. I have thick legs/large calfs as well and so far the only place that i’ve been able to get stylish boots are at Torrid. Go figure I’d have plus size legs!

  11. I think that short women can still rock this look and look good.

I’m 5’0” and have the Alexander Wang Freja boots. They come up to right about my knee. I’ve worn them with black leggings, a long shirt, and jacket and I’ve gotten lots of compliments.

I really think it’s all in your confidence.

  12. I have skinny legs smh and i more than likely wont go get them altered so its no point in me getting them. Plus, where do you wear them? I always feel like they’re doing too much.

    SN i agree with @Frost

  13. Death to thigh boots. it is really skripper-esq or for celebs w/they perform. I really wish women understand that they look lik a stripper n not classy..smh

  14. i wear my thigh high and taller boots with heels in public with my fetish leather gear all the time. i love it!

  15. Love Thigh High Boots, wear them a lot when going out at night and allways get nice comments from other ladies
