Hey!
So a few weeks ago I got a call, asking me to participate in BET’s annual Rip the Runway fashion show. Normally I’d be in Paris for Fashion Week, but decided to delay my travels a bit to seize the fantastic opportunity:

This year the network asked bloggers to take part, so tapped myself along with Gabi of GabiFresh.com and Rae and Gabe of StuffFlyPeopleLike.com to help hosts Selita Ebanks and Pooch Hall introduce the show’s different segments:

Chock full of fantastic urban designs, Rip the Runway is part fashion showcase, part concert, part party–and all fun. This year, brands like Brian Lichtenberg, Sammy B Designs, La Vie, and Monif C took center stage, alongside acts like Robin Thicke, Estelle, Wale, Diggy Simmons, and Lil Kim.

It was a long and full day of taping, but it was an amazing experience. I’m so grateful to BET for having me, and can’t wait to see how I did;)
For the occasion, I decided to go bright and bold, ditching my natural hair color in favor of spring ready blond (if you’ve been reading for a while, you could say I went back to my roots):

As far as my outfit, I wanted to shimmer, so opted for an Ebony/Coral Newaz Dress from All Saints, along with a bright white BCBG Max Azria blazer, and bar III dangling earrings.

I brought out the pink tones in the dress with a pair of coral Fendi Monogram Peep Toes, and added just a pop of interest with a neon yellow American Apparel polish pedicure:

What do you think?
At any rate, it was an exciting night.

If you want to catch it, Rip the Runway will air Wednesday, March 21st at 10pm. Set your DVR’s!

  4. Hey Hey! Thanks y’all. I literally passed out from fatigue after writing that post; it’s good to wake up to your lovely comments. @Mimi We weren’t really allowed to do anything i.e. record video, take twitpics backstage, etc. They were super strict about us not leaking any info and encouraging everyone to wait to watch the show…so…hope you tune in on March 21st! That was just a snippet. Normally I woulda been twitpicing all up in there.

  10. I love the new haircolor, and your clothes and nails. Can anyone tell me what was Claire’s haircolor before she had black hair? And i’m sorry to say, but i’m not feeling the make-up in the redcarpet-photo, maybe it’s just the flashing lights?

  11. claire…all I could think at first was, she dyed her hair, she dyed her hair…platinum or almost…loooooove it and you look great as always…WERK mama!

  14. @Everybody Thanks!!
    @D Hey! Ok.
@Marthe Before black, I was red, blond, etc. I changed to black when I moved to Paris because I knew maintaining color wouldn’t be easy to do abroad. X
PS For an idea of my old color, check my avatar (pic with Marc Jacobs with brownish red tresses)

  15. Claire you look amaze!!! I live for that entire ensemble, especially the dress! WERK!!

  16. Fab as per usual. Shoes, outfit, hair, everything…. FIRE. You’re doing big things! Looking forward to seeing even more growth from you!

  17. Love the hair colour Clair but wearing the dress with that blazer makes you look a little boxy

  18. i didn’t like the make-up.. i think you should of dropped the blazer, added a belt.. but congrats!!!!

  19. You look amazing! I love the pedicure color…I would have never thought to do that but it really does enhance the outfit! Just a point of note/advice…when changing hair color, particularly going brighter – its best to do it a few weeks before your special event so it has time to tone down. That was my initial thought before you even mentioned your freshly colored locs. The entire look is perfection other than that one small constructive criticism. Thanks for sharing!

  20. LMAO I was looking at the pics & I was trying to figure out who that white woman was in the sequin body suit, then I read back & it’s Lil Kim…Oops!
