Ok. I’ve gotta admit: I haven’t seen Harlem Heights!! I know, I know.

BET.com is soooo slow on my computer–besides the main shows I watch online are Judge Judy and For the Love of Ray J. What can I say, I love trash TV.

So I’ve been getting bits and pieces on the cast from articles, and thankfully today AOL StyleSpotter interviewed the girls for a fashion focused piece:

Seems these ladies have great taste! The girls list Chanel Bags, Zanotti Shoes, Nicole Miller dresses and Versace boots as part of their fashion arsenals.

Snaaaaps!

Read the rest of the article here, but tell me: is the show any good?

  1. WELL I LIKE DA SHOW BECAUSE IT SHOWS US AS BLACK PEOPLE IN A GOOD LIGHT AS FAR AS THEIR EDUCATION & CAREERS ARE IN INVOLVED HELPING GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY…BUT U KNOW IT WOULDN’T BE A SHOW WITHOUT THE MESS AND DRAMA THE WHO’S DATING WHO EX-BEST FRIENDS BROOK AND ASHLIE BUMPING HEADS……etc OVER ITS KOOL!!!!!

  2. Haven’t seen Harlem Heights??

You aren’t missing anything at all. The cattiness between the supposedly grown women is annoying and I swear BET has the worst budget for reality shows but I digress… they’re trying at least.

  3. I personally love this show. It protrays black people at the top of their careers and giving back to the community. Sure its very scripted but the fighting and cattiness are part of the reality tv world. BET has to do something to keep viewers coming back.

  4. Sooo…outside of the fact they are Black and successful…it’s still a “reality show” right?

Not my cup of tea, but hope they do well!

  5. Is the show good…hmmm I’m on the fence. Yes they are educated and accomplishing things but the show seems scripted and contrived. Though I am not a native of Harlem certain scenes don’t seem authentic. Frankly I am getting tired of watching frivolous spending in the midst of a recession. It was annoying how many times they referenced one cast mate as Kanye’s ex, I would have preferred to hear more about her actual accomplishments.

  6. I applaud what BET is TRYING to do, but the editing is horrible! Maybe I need to give the show one more chance. However, judging from the first night when it aired, I just couldn’t take the budget quality of it. Also, I felt like they were highlighting the men’s careers while just showcasing the cattiness amongst some of the women…my two cents.

  7. Okay, honestly I TiVo the show primarily because BET commercials send me over the edge; but then when I watch I’m left with this…this ughhh ya’ll are getting on my nerves type of feeling. And, I’m not that impressed with the “black people in a good light”, “black upperwardly mobile” thing. I’m an HBCU grad and MBA and for real ughh they are getting on my nerves. BTW uberstylista, June Ambrose is the show’s stylist which is a bit confusing for a “reality” show.

Even with all that salt I tossed…I wish the cast the best and I loove loove all of the guys who seem to have it together.

  8. AR, I totally saw June Ambrose as the stylist in the credits. I watch the show, but I don’t know why. I don’t like any of the characters they seem a little blah. I seems like they talk too much about their clothes and careers and not enough about themselves. All I see is bottle poppin and a little half hearted effort to give back from the guys. I do like talking aobut it though.

  9. Its awful! I like that they’re all educated but other than that it comes off as phony. Brooke is the only one that seems authentic. I’ve seen three episodes and I’m over it.

  10. Yeah, like the other ladies said, its okay at first, just on the basic level. But after a few episodes, I started to wonder exactly HOW old these “women” were. The bickering, choosing sides, and stealing men is just ridiculous. And it really puts black women in such a negative light as far as hating on one another. If they are so grown and professional, why can’t they just get on a different level and stop talking mess about one another all day long.

But again, this is “reality” TV, so I’m sure the network has cut and pasted the heck out of the real scenes, so we will never know how these women are in real life.

  11. I have watched the show from the 1st episode. It’s okay, but like everyone else said I’m kind of over it. I do have a question about the clothing though-are they borrowed, or do they belong to the cast? I think the styling is great, but some of the pieces seem to be a bit expensive? Any thoughts?

  12. I have seen HH. I’m sorry but it’s really boring. Fake drama etc…Brooke and Brianna they’re getting on my nerves.

  13. Your are NOT missing anything with this show! I was excited to see young black professionals shown in a positive light doing something good but……this show is full of advertisements (from AT&T to Pizza Hut), phonyness, lots of acting, and they are more bourgeois than down to earth. For some reason I record this every week :-/ Lots of backstabbing going on. In agreeance @ Lily especially Brianna.
