As we reported in today’s news, Diane von Furstenberg has teamed up with Google Glass to create a collection of stylish shades using the cutting edge technology.
Fashionable techies can take their pick from 5 frames, and also get on board with detachable sunglass shades. Like all Google Glass, Furstenberg’s iteration is a wearable computer…for your face. You can search apps, take pictures, get directions, and undoubtedly play games and read books with the hands free device.
Nina Garcia was one of the first fashion editors to try the technology on for size, having captured last season’s collections through the contraption’s discerning lens.
I have no doubt ever more editors and bloggers will be gifted Google Glasses for the collections this Fall. Expect many street style snaps to follow with fabulously coordinated outfits to boot.
I probably will not be partaking in this fashion/tech trend. I find Google Glass to be a bit strange. My friend Jason brought his pair to my high school reunion, and in between turns laughing at him, I tried them on, and just didn’t see the point. It was confusing, I could barely see anything, I didn’t understand, I put them down.
Perhaps I will be one of the late comers to the game.
What about you? Will you be trying them out?
