Try a Fall 2012 Trend: All Black Everything

If you haven’t noticed, the mood has significantly darkened with our favorite celebrities, with many opting for all black looks, intensified by textures. Though black is a winter staple (and an all-year-round must for city dwellers) the stars have been flaunting the look on red carpets and running errands, going for subtle sophistication and understated chic.

Kim Kardashian hit the Miami airport in a furry coat, along with Tom Ford Anouk sunglasses, J Brand wax jeans, and Tom Ford Fall 2011 sandals.

Rihanna spent part of Halloween en noir, slipping on a the Row ribbed top and Dolce & Gabbana skirt.

Rita Ora made a splash in London in a Karl Lagerfeld Dahli leatherette dress, Giuseppe Zanotti boots, and a Vivienne Westwood Gold Label Fall 2012 coat.

Instead of a regular LBD, Lala Anthony handpicked a shift with plexi panels.

And Melanie Fiona worked a few velvety Versace pieces into a recent rocker chic look.
Fashion editors have been working the ‘all black’ look for years.
Take a look at a few of my faves:

Kate Lanphear of Elle Magazine

Christine Centenera of Vogue Australia

The Former Paris Vogue Team: Géraldine Saglio, Emmanuelle Alt, Carine Roitfeld

Giovanna Battaglia

The key to pulling this look off well is to shoot for pieces offering different feels and proportions (think velvet, fur, fringe, leather, lace). And especially in the winter, the coat, shoes, and hosiery are of prime importance.

Will you be hopping on the all black train?
