This Friday September 17th in New York: A Talk on Diversity in Publishing

Michaela Angela Davis, Esther Armah, and Isolde Brielmaier are holding a talk on Friday September 17th at 6pm to discuss diversity in publishing:

According to the press release, “[This Fashion Week we see] black beauty on the covers of Elle and Vogue. The image of blackness flourishes, but how is the presence of diversity in the publishing world? We take the pulse of the industry. We ask which magazines have hired, who have they hired and what does that reveal about diversity in post racial USA? Black women may adorn mainstream magazine covers, but, there are no black people holding the top position of Fashion Director at any major magazine. What do you say that means for the fashion, beauty, lifestyle media in post-racial America?”
If you’re interested and in New York, the talk will be held at The Institute of African American Affairs New York University, 41 East 11th St. at University Place 7th floor.
I’m definitely going to be there! Will you attend?
